- pasteler0, on 12/17/2007, -5/+267uTorrent is clean and lightweight. Azureus is big and heavy.
- inactive, on 12/17/2007, -12/+123God how I wish there was an OS X version for this beautiful client.
- Diggtatorship, on 12/17/2007, -5/+99Like most people, I switched to uTorrent when Azureus got commercialized.

- TheNik, on 12/17/2007, -9/+62Transmission or xTorrent for the win on OS X. Azureus is a bloated POS.
- PHiZ187, on 12/17/2007, -16/+57Azureus is bloated java crap

..is based on data published from PC Pitstop, a company that gathers data by “inspecting” the computers of users that try their free online virus / spyware scanners. The data used in this report are collected from Windows registry and table entries of over a million PC’s.
Or maybe more utorrent users use pcpitstop than azurues users? - XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 12/17/2007, -23/+58java client = lots of overhead
- thebellmaster1x, on 12/17/2007, -5/+39So, what you're saying is, if I like being able to do other things on my computer while I'm downloading something from a torrent, I should use µTorrent. Gotcha.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 12/17/2007, -2/+36Yeah Vuze sucks.
- timpkmn89, on 12/17/2007, -0/+30They're trying to get one made, Linux too, but apparently they ran into programmer problems.
- colonels1020, on 12/17/2007, -3/+33Azureus should just dump the who VUZE thing or whatever it's called. I've tried to stick with version 2.5, but then they started making the 3.0/VUZE a forced upgrade... uTorrent ftw
- Noctem, on 12/17/2007, -1/+30Hey look everyone! Unsubstantiated claims! The latest versions of uTorrent are, indeed, safe to use. Almost all (if not all) private trackers now allow it. Original 'spying' claims were due to a new feature introduced for local peer discovery.

- TimmyGUNZ, on 12/17/2007, -5/+31I couldn't be happier with Transmission for OS X. I used to use Azureus, but it's obscene use of memory pushed me to alternatives. Now, it would take a lot for me to ditch Transmission.
- there, on 12/17/2007, -5/+30 After considering Bittorent (that now owes utorrent)...
1. signed that deal with Hollywood which gives it plenty of incentive to be industry tracking software
2. effectively give a big middle finger to the open source community that made them (by close sourcing BT)
3. "herioc" Ashwin Navin (CE0 of BT) is a big Randroid fan?
Azereus all the way baby. - pehpsi, on 12/17/2007, -8/+32The first rule of _ _ _ _ _ _ is you don't talk about _ _ _ _ _ _!
- courtjester555, on 12/17/2007, -3/+27Props for using the actual character, "mu."
- colonelbuckshot, on 12/17/2007, -11/+35µTorrent is a great piece of software. Light, clean, fast, useable, stable, functional, pretty, configurable, free. It pisses all over Azureus and Bitcomet.
www.utorrent.com - MacSuxWindozSux, on 12/17/2007, -1/+24Um... uTorrent was bought by Bittorent Inc.
That's the commerical client. Azureus has Vuze, which is just an extra menu that thumbails downloads from their store.
And ultimately uTorrent is closed source, so it is physically possible, however unlikely, that it could snitch on you in some way. - masterc, on 12/17/2007, -1/+22Comment from the site:

- prthealien, on 12/17/2007, -4/+23C++ > Java
- spyrochaete, on 12/17/2007, -6/+25Azureus is awesome. If you call tons more features "bloat" then it's just not the client for you. If you haven't tried it in a long time you should give it another chance. It loads up in less than 5 seconds (still longer than uTorrent, yes) and the number of options is just incredible.
I just switched back to Azureus from uTorrent because Az lets me enforce transfer encryption while uT only supports it optionally. The only thing I miss from uT is the option to randomize the ports at startup.
So anyway, don't diss uTorrent's free open source cousin. They're both great clients but neither is for everybody. - BlaenkDenum, on 12/17/2007, -2/+20My little brother drew that graph in MS Paint.
- gcnaddict, on 12/17/2007, -0/+18Obvious troll is obvious.
- Dohko_Xar, on 12/17/2007, -0/+18uTorrent sold out to anti-p2p overlords and Azureus is just trying to earn some bucks WITHOUT selling out...
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 12/17/2007, -1/+18i agree, after trying all of the os x torrent applications (and i do mean all of them) i had given up and settled on azureus. after reading that transmission had been majorly retooled i decided to give it a (reluctant) second try. i was surprised to find a light weight, quick and efficient application. the developers are still constantly improving it, seems like once a week or so there's an upgraded version to download and install and finally, it's open source: http://transmission.m0k.org/
no, i'm not affiliated with the client. :) - Spanq, on 12/17/2007, -4/+21I don't give a ***** which one is better. As long as I get my filez.
- lovestospooge, on 12/17/2007, -0/+16Or you could pronounce it as microTorrent
- cwgannon, on 12/17/2007, -3/+19Wow for the Digg mob. Not that anecdotal evidence should sway your opinion, but I have Azureus open, downloading and uploading two 700 MB torrents, and seeding a 21 GB and two 2 GB torrents, and get this: It's using 100 MB of RAM. And this is even after I turned off friendly hash checking and a couple other options to increase my performance (and therefore consequently my RAM usage).
I still use uTorrent on XP, but I've become attached to the insane amount of options I'm given by Azureus. It's a bit like the difference between KDE and GNOME perhaps, but I refuse to myself open that can of worms. - stoppedcode12, on 12/17/2007, -0/+16free and fast?
- infwonder, on 12/17/2007, -0/+16I think it's due to Azureus 3 release... The worst idea I've ever seen...
- ashlocke, on 12/17/2007, -8/+24µtorrent is so ***** awesome, it added 2 1/2 inches to my penis. It also managed to get me a swedish whore who was willing to wear a french-maid outfit and clean my house WHILE having sex!

- FireAtWill, on 12/17/2007, -1/+17I find it to be a phenomenal, configurable client. I started with Shadow's but I find that µTorrent is a far better program.
- NiGHTSChao, on 12/17/2007, -1/+16Thats because your a ***** noob when it comes to BT...
- pukiman, on 12/17/2007, -2/+17keyboard = keypad, that is on the right side of the keyboard.
- phixed, on 12/17/2007, -0/+14I tried so many different clients before discovering uTorrent. Suffering through bittornado was worth it just to make it seem that much sweeter.
- clperez390, on 12/17/2007, -1/+15big and heavy?
- spyrochaete, on 12/17/2007, -2/+15Oh yeah, and the plugins!! Azureus has dozens of great plugins including SafePeer which checks every connection versus a blacklist of suspicious IP addresses like Disney Corp and the RIAA and blocks them. Azureus has a very nice plugins interface that lets you browse and install extra features from right inside the client.
uTorrent is monolithic and not modular or extensible. Take it or leave it. - Clelland, on 12/17/2007, -1/+14Boo! xTorrent costs moneys. For a Bittorrent client!? Pah. I couldn't even pirate it
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 12/17/2007, -1/+13peerguardian != false sense of security.
Nobody expects it to make it impossible for you to be tracked. It works very well, and blocks most people you don't want to connect with.
So the fact that "it's still possible to be tracked" doesn't justify not using it at all.
In fact you'd be pretty dumb not to use a filter of that kind.
Small chance of being tracked > No chance at avoiding it. - jpt62089, on 12/17/2007, -1/+13Don't forget unstable! Especially the Mac client... I want to kill the thing so many times! Sad thing is it's the best one I've used that has a Mac client.
Yes I am keeping my eye on Transmission, but Azereus' download speed is far superior to Transmittion. - ImperatorTerrae, on 12/17/2007, -1/+13de·fer1 /dɪˈfɜr/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[di-fur] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, -ferred, -fer·ring.
