- warbird, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21ddrirc:
You just proved how much the Japanese translation sucks :) - saroth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16これはきれいなよい鳴る。大きい発見! -> This clean is good, you sound. Large discovery!
- PaulOwen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Professional translation ddrirc's poor Japanese attempt:
"This is a nice good play. Large detection!"
(hakken here can't mean discovery because it's not compounded correctly)
What you meant to say (or what the translator meant) is probably:
kore ha iizo. daihakken da!
(I've romanized it because digg's "Update" function incorrectly parses 2-bit encoding).
And it's not a big discovery at all.
It's only really good for mangled nonsensical translation.
This is a principle of language which seems really obvious to me - a whole science dedicated to Natural Language Processing has been around for decades, and if they can't figure natural speech out, what makes ANYONE think that they can buld a system to map it accurately between distinct languages?
Never underestimate the services of a good translator, and never overestimate the usefulness of automatic translation. - TheComputerMutt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Original English: This sounds pretty good. Great Find!

...to English: Large number of Fava of this resounds. It is large the fortunate Ritrovamento!
The reports of Google's next translator make it sounds incredible, I wonder how what it would make of this process? - PaulOwen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9これはいいぞ。大発見だ。
is a more correct translation.
(note to site admins - you need to use unicode parsing for the "Update" function too!) - ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@thecomputermatt:
I don't know about the others... but the spanish translation really...totally...deeply sucks. I don't think a spanish cavemen would have said it like that :). - DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Somebody set us up the extension!

http://leetkey.mozdev.org/ - aaron_dyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yet another reason to dump ie and move to the firefox browser, if only we could get it to the Enterprise space
- cbdgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It would be cool if it could automatically detect the language and automatically translate it without any user interaction
- Rapax, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3You mean...this is just like the built in function Opera has had for ages? Wow!
- Hexxagonal, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5FYI...

- zentro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Can I have a drag of what you're all smoking in here?
- zinic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Even if it has been built into Opera for so long, this is still a nice addition to my FireFox extensions.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Esta extension para firefox vale verga!

That was an exaggeration.
Nonetheless, seems like a very helpful extension, although I want to see more more languages supported. - CumShot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ayudame Obi-Wan Kenobi, eres mi unica esperanza. - "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."

"Drop your panties, Sir William; I cannot wait 'til lunchtime." - FunkstarDeLux, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1This is sooooo old. No digg :-(
- skidzilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Another great Firefox extension for learning Japanese is Rikaichan.
http://www.polarcloud.com/rikaichan/- bloodborne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Agreed, using it right now! Love the kanji feature.
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is old, it was on digg for more than a day!(no this post)
- MOGua, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Google is evil; they removed Chinese Traditional from their translation tool.
If you were Chinese you would know how big of a "kiss-up" that is to the Chinese government. (Complicated matter between Taiwan and China)
Even Yahoo! still has Chinese Traditional in their language tool, and they've been in China longer than Google. (Maybe because Jerry Yang is Taiwanese...) - DawgBytez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0http://babelfish.altavista.com/ is still the best :)
- mattroberts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its good - the extension within firefox is incredibly convenient. Thanks for the heads up.

- Quality26, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I suppose I can't blame the extention, but the translation is spotty at best. It keeps thinking Portugese is French, and struggles with both.
- XMORDECAIX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is fantastic. I really could use this since I import many games.
digg++++++++++++++++++++++ - Tommstein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Konqueror can translate entire pages.

No offense kevin, you're really funny on diggnation, but if anyone else posted this, it would get like 18 diggs - teitoku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Man, would open source have ANYTHING if they didn't constantly steal every last idea from large closed-source apps?
- Pharoah6905, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I actually just reformated my hard drive and was looking for some good firefox extensions and so i downloaded this yesterday and have been very happy with the results so far
- amoeba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I recommend checking out http://www.tashian.com/multibabel/
It translates languages back and forth several times using babelfish, with highly amusing results.
