- standsolid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1very nice.
congratulations xorg team - Elleo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Nice, I hope that it finally manages to render dropshadows and other eyecandy, x6.8 was not good at these things"
With the new EXA render acceleration system (replacing XAA) composite tasks such as drop shadows and transparent windows will be much faster. (EXA is currently only supported in radeon, sis and i128 drivers, see http://wiki.x.org/wiki/ExaStatus for more details). - Tsuroerusu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This should be a good update, since Xorg is crusial to ALL UNIX desktops, both the present ones, and future ones.

- proglottis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a good thing for Linux. I'm definitely excited about X.Org's development.
Finally I wont have to have a ridiculous config for my Logitech mouse. - mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's nice to see X continue moving on into the future, after years of stagnation with the XFree86 project.
- lambda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes!
- toasterwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet! Now lets get this bad boy in some major distros ASAP!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Coolness!
- jhuebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Congrats to the Xorg crew. This is a solid indication that many Linux distributions chose wisely when they switched from XFree to Xorg.
- thread, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This sounds like really good news 'n all... but I think I think a lot of people still are going to need acceleration on their nvidia cards. Can this "nv" driver (that is apparently a work in progress at this point) realistically replace my fancy driver from NVidia? Is there any hope for accelerated desktop effects for nvidia board owners like me?
- illynova, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hopefully the release of a modularized system will FINALLY allow people to start hacking away at X without spending a year learning imake. I'm kind of interested, though I doubt I have the time.
- PirateFSM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0will it give me mouse configurations!?
- noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0a. does this mean that developers can make add-ons to X.org?
b. is it true that they made a few changes in composite, causing it extension to be usable without a high-end graphics card? - dharm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1ubuntu is great... for linux noobs... so dont bash it... lol
but, cypher35, makes it sound like its a elite distro...which its not... - etx313, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"***** yes! can't wait for it to make it's way into kubuntu repositorys.
although i bet half the diggers on this site don't know what the ***** this means."
Holy ***** dude your so 3r33t. The best part is your using kde AND ubuntu. Don't post dumb ***** like this when your proudly sportin the two biggest pieces of ***** to hit linux in years. - cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1***** yes! can't wait for it to make it's way into kubuntu repositorys.
although i bet half the diggers on this site don't know what the ***** this means. - MrPhelps, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0X11R7 ??!
