- inactive, on 03/30/2008, -0/+50Come on guys... here is the 'official' announcement from Matt himself.
http://wordpress.org/development/2008/03/wordpress ... - Falldog, on 03/30/2008, -2/+20But is it Digg proof?
- otis12, on 03/30/2008, -3/+19Database error
- Verdanic, on 03/30/2008, -0/+12Longest string of blogspam ever, and I never call out blogspam but it was actually DIFFICULT to get to an official post through links.
http://wordpress.org/development/2008/03/wordpress ... - klick37, on 03/30/2008, -6/+17Does it still go down faster than Paris Hilton in one of her family's hotels?
- Radan, on 03/30/2008, -0/+10Oh, the irony.
- boymotion, on 03/30/2008, -2/+8Buried for being blogspam. Should've linked to WordPress.org
- Digisphere, on 03/30/2008, -0/+5no.
- inactive, on 03/30/2008, -0/+4And in other news, Digg users have found that they can actually read more than 1 in 20 Wordpress-based sites without the help of a mirror.
- piwy, on 03/30/2008, -0/+4The digg effect on Wordpress has less to do with Wordpress than most people seem to realise. Most of those sites that go down under the digg effect have a) not used a decent caching plugin, b) a ***** host. without those two every cms will pretty much go down under digg's caress.
- Vigacmoe, on 03/30/2008, -1/+5I don't know why but I just dugg the first 10 comments down.
- TheKorn2, on 03/30/2008, -1/+4All I want to know is if they improved the "WORDPRESS CANNOT ESTABLISH A DATABASE CONNECTION" page...
...because that's all the content I ever see on Wordpress. It'd be nice if they made *that* at least not look like ass. - RajDhillon, on 03/30/2008, -3/+6Wordpress has always been digg proof, idiots just don't know how to run it properly.
http://digg.com/software/How_to_survive_the_Digg_E ... - kupa, on 03/30/2008, -0/+2so much wp hate from people who seem intelligent, but really seem to be going for the moron award whenever wordpress is mentioned. it's not the software's fault for people running it on a slow host -- and most importantly not using any sort of caching system. the fact is that many high traffic websites use wordpress just fine, *****, many get front paged without so much as a hiccup, so what the *****? god forbid someone mention something positive or relevant to the new version.
- antechinus, on 03/30/2008, -1/+3Have they fixed the totally ***** up AJAX/abortion of an html editor yet?
- cbdgr, on 03/30/2008, -0/+2but he asked so nicely
- getrealnow, on 03/30/2008, -2/+4I bet wordpress will still fall to the digg effect
- unitedkronos, on 03/30/2008, -0/+2But if a stranger asked you to kill someone in a nice tone of voice would you do it?
- innerpenguin, on 03/30/2008, -1/+2Nice update
- Gogogo111, on 03/30/2008, -1/+2Thats like installing a graphics card without installing drivers.
- getrealnow, on 03/30/2008, -2/+3Woo database error!
- trisweb, on 03/30/2008, -0/+1Apparently, but I don't trust them. Haven't tried it yet.
- sahaskatta, on 03/30/2008, -2/+3just upgraded, and the admin panel looks beautiful.
i love all the new ajax features! - asurroca, on 04/04/2008, -0/+1Been using the new version for a few days and I'm digging the interface...
- benjosp, on 03/30/2008, -0/+1It was about time
- thailand1972, on 03/30/2008, -2/+3Who cares - does it cache? - will it stand up to traffic spikes? - if you care about these things and 2.5 does take care of these issues, then go ahead and drool over the shiny new admin features knowing you have your priorities right and your visitor's priorities (i.e. they can see your site) are being answered.
- theotheragentm, on 03/30/2008, -0/+1The auto plugin updater is awesome. With one click, the plugin is updated! Now, how to prevent malicious plugins from popping up?
- unisol, on 03/30/2008, -1/+1i love all the new ajax features! =)
- mindsnare, on 03/30/2008, -2/+2Yep upgraded earlier today, very nice new admin interface. And hopefully it is more robust when it encounters high traffic, but I think when my website copped it it was the server more than the CMS.
- thailand1972, on 03/30/2008, -2/+2The big question: does it cache?
- berfarah, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0I'm having problems with the update...goddamnit.
- scottperezfox, on 03/30/2008, -1/+1A very welcome update. I love the new interface! Makes us wonder why we used the previous version!
- thailand1972, on 03/31/2008, -1/+1Answer to caching question : IT DOES NOT CACHE, and I could not see any reference to this in the detailed updates. Same old story then - WP pages rendered from database every single time - every element, including category listings, number of posts in categories etc. So, basically don't expect WP blogs to stand up to any kind of traffic spike whatever its hosting.
- inactive, on 03/30/2008, -2/+1New desing, better GUI. What else?
- wm666, on 03/30/2008, -3/+1http://www.winandmac.com/review/review-wordpress-2 ...
Tried already. - cr3ative, on 03/30/2008, -5/+2Sorry, but if it doesn't work out of the box, that doesn't count.
- copesc, on 03/30/2008, -5/+1For those calling it blog spam, this post was sent before the official post on the Wordpress.org blog was made. So, what's up?
- leetninja, on 03/30/2008, -5/+1still crashes ... what other "improvements" have been made?
- xyu1, on 03/30/2008, -6/+2God damnit, I just upgraded the thing when I installed an older version a week or two ago. Can't they slow down a bit? Will go through the messing around when I feel like it.
- jggube, on 03/30/2008, -8/+4And they updated the look-and-feel of wordpress.org to boot.
- romistrub, on 03/30/2008, -6/+2Question since I'm way too lazy to read anything about wordpress on a Saturday night: Does it still suck?
Edit: Referring specifically to the narsty code it spews forth, and (apparently?) it's reliability (see: Digg Effect). - RetepNamenots, on 03/30/2008, -10/+5Buried for Wordpress.
- copesc, on 03/30/2008, -8/+2Yep, it's a long wait until we'll be able to upgrade our full-of-plugins blogs :)
- JErick, on 03/30/2008, -12/+6Wooo Wordpress!
- inactive, on 03/30/2008, -8/+2great news for the wordpress community
- AzzidReign, on 03/30/2008, -8/+1Great! I've been waiting for this for the release of my new site.
- bradkovach, on 03/30/2008, -9/+2FINALLY IS RIGHT! I got impatient yesterday and installed Release Candidate 3.
- copesc, on 03/30/2008, -9/+2you're right jggube! They've made it look like the admin panel, like the old layout looked like the old admin interface
