- snlildude87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Umm, TechCrunch runs on Wordpress.
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11RE: Spammer
That doesn't even make sense. - headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8But it goes to 11!
- sembetu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Every effin day, it's another account with this linkspam. Good thing there's not a cap on how many folks you can block, but this is getting ridiculous. You would think that by now this nuisance would be filtered out. And WTF is up with posting that meatspin crap? I feel like I am in grade school on here sometimes.
/sheesh... - ahcomeon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Maybe diggs to WordPress will withstand the digg effect now. Wishful thinking?
- coldfusion055, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4All I really want is the Shuttle project implemented. http://www.brokenkode.com/shuttle
- clay900, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5How come there are never 11 things you need to know lists? I mean, 10 seems kind of short sighted...
- technosailor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Probably not a bad idea if there aren't features in 2.1 that you need. On the flip side, 2.1 has gone through extensive testing specifically for launch as well as on wordpress.com, so you might be okay.
- gnawph2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There is one plugin for phpBB that replaces comments with threads. You can find it by searching for "phpBB wordpress". Good thing you looked before making a comment!
- wsriley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42.1 sounds great - but I agree with neoknight - I'll wait until the bugs get fixed.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4gah, and I just got every one on my site updated to 2.0.7 :S
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32# don't make blind comments without thinking
- shovel10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While he probably is going to be right about the release date (happy to know in advance), just claiming ITS TOMMOROW!, how does he know ?
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3*They* don't make plugins at all.
- logic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"In addition, the addition of WordPress widgets as an add-on..."
Wow. - macosx86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So where is it??? I'm still waiting...
- technosailor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I pay attention to the WordPress development mailing lists and am responsible for one of the largest WordPress-based companies in existence. I have an ear at WordPress. You too could have known that WordPress 2.1 was slated for tomorrow (Jan 22). This, for instance, was on Jan 8 (http://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-hackers/2007-January/010218.html). Since then, Jan 22 has been the date.
- vfault, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When are they going to make a forum plugin compatible with phpbb, vbulletin, or ipb? That's something should take into consideration.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wordpress.com work?
- Salmar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3None of it makes any sense, as I've got that ass clown on block.
- tomi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3mirror, KiBLeSnBiTs = +block
- ishmal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I looked, and it appears (maybe I'm wrong) that Mysql is still firmly locked in as the only database backend. I thought that database agnosticism was, for at least a year, a priority goal. Did I miss something?
- sweintraub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Shuttle looks good but the new 3.0 version of Tiger Admin rocks
http://orderedlist.com/articles/wordpress-administration-design-tiger/ - mikebritton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not sure I like the idea of combining categories and links. While they are used in similar ways, they aren't the same thing.
- jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's a good idea for a plugin... Maybe something to work on on my spare time.
- Drahkar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Problem is that filtering it out automatically would risk hitting non-spam posts that put links into them. Unfortunately as long as there are morons of this sort there will be spam.
I still can't believe some of the statistics on Email spam I've seen out there. I have no doubt they are true, but you'd think with stats like those people would be more interested in resolving the issue and taking spammers down.
In regards to the article, most of these features are running on the wordpress site itself and I have to admit they are nice. - DD32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1for the record these are the ones that are currently supported for import:
Old Blogger
Blogware
DotClear
GreyMatter
LiveJournal
Movable Type and TypePad
RSS
Textpattern
WordPress
I wonder if Blogger2.0 can be done via the RSS option?
D
(BTW, been running CVS wordpress 2.1, i was about to write my own customised one for myself instead of using 2.0 because of some letdowns, but, wordpress 2.1 is much better IMO) - GunsGermsSteel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Soooo....when will the make it so I can import my Blogger 2.0 into WordPress? Because that would be nice.
- sclark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God I hope that it'll import Old Blogger with comments this time. That's been a nightmare.
- hardwarehank, on 10/12/2007, -1/+111. Wordpress < Typo
- fac3less, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Only if you use a host that doesn't oversell :p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, not everyone is going to want to upgrade to the 2.1 branch, so it's good that they make bug fix releases for 2.0, regardless of the status of 2.1.
- ChrisAlbon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1My prediction:
Headline from Day 1: "Apple releases a Linux-Based Wordpress friendly Google-inspired iPhone that doubles as a Wii remote."
Headline from Day 2: "Digg.com runs out of 'diggs', Ebay blackmarket for 'diggs' flourishes." - technosailor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The 2.0 branch will be around until at least 2010 thanks to it being in Debian.
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Uh, it's definitely true. Does that /really/ make him an ass?
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2[reply]ing is hard.
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1No.
- technosailor, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6Waterispoison: not to be an ass, but you're an ass.
- neoknight, on 10/12/2007, -19/+8I might have to wait for wordpress 2.1.1 so that the bugs that come with 2.1 are kicked out.
- Waterispoison, on 10/12/2007, -26/+8#1- Never post a WordPress blog link on Digg. Ever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -32/+1Me?
