      Ah, the joys of encountering you young guns! (no offence intended). Amiga OS is a legend, quite possibly the best OS ever made IMHO - sure, superseded nowadays in pure feature terms, but when running on the Amiga hardware never have I seen such a symphony of design before or since - seriously. You know how some designs are beautiful? Well that was the Amiga hardware/software combination. A million lightyears from the ***** that is the Windows series, or indeed the great Mac OS (great, but not quite that great). Having programmed and tech supported those and other platforms, I know quality when I see it.

      The only thing since that comes close in greatness is "intent" from the Tao Group - which was once Tao OS. http://tao-group.com/ . That is also a piece of beautiful code, and genius design. Trouble is, not many people know about it. Put it in a networked environment, on a multitude of different processors and it comes to life, from a small, neat codebase. Put it on a mobile phone and it surpasses the built in J2ME virtual machine by some 20 times.

      Interesting that the most used OS is one of the worst pieces of software ever built, while genius remains in obscurity.

      We had to use Amiga OS at school in Music for midi sequencing...then we got iMacs.

    I got OS X. Damn, what a bummer.

    Dont get me wrong, lots of folks might think thats a good thing, but I was hoping for a real system. Like XP. Linux would be ok, even though it has no use in real life, only in servers.

    I guess i will have to grow a goatee and hang out in art museums and coffee houses like the rest of the OS X / Mac people. sigh............................
