  • BlaenkDenum, on 01/23/2008, -2/+10This is a common misconception. The crashing is usually due to cheap hosting or poor site design (Too much Javascript and/or CSS), get WP-Super Cache and all your problems begone.

WordPress can and will take down a properly configured dedicated server, unless max clients is set ridiculously low. when i say 'can' i mean that it is more dependent upon the WordPress setup - if you plan on being dugg at all, wp-cache is a necessity. of course, implementing mod_cband in apache 2 can also help keep the server up - but that's rate limiting and (similarly to lowering max clients) is kind of 'cheating' to get the server to stay up.

    Movable Type is no where near as intense as WordPress. I've witness sites running both pieces of software get dugg and can say without a doubt that MT (for the most part) handles the load much better.

    I think I'd want those links up all the time, although highlighting just the one related to the site the visitor came from could be nice, sure. Just want to make sure I understand it.

    Of course, this mangling is a WordPress "feature." Back to typography school! At least Digg is keeping it real and nonjudgmental with the straight quote. Typewriter style!
