Pretty sure it was Viddler that did this, because I went to click a link to their site, and it had died, then I tried to watch the video again, and it was dead as well.

  • DJNewStyle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Vimeo is a service provided by Connected Ventures. They're the company behind CollegeHumor and Busted Tees. Vimeo is great for what it is - a place where you can share videos you create. Privacy options far exceed YouTube as well.

  • troymccluresf, on 10/22/2007, -0/+4I can't stand youtube, really. Video quality is horrible and the userbase's favorite breakfast seems to be a nice, tall Jager & glue on the rocks.

    I like Vimeo, and know them from Flagpole Sitta - http://www.vimeo.com/173714-- , and I like it so far, though their upload process needs some work.

  • box7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Yeah I thought it was a good review. It didn't seem slanted. Shame that the traffic is killing viddler right now, but once everything is said and done it works great. I think the player has improved in terms of minimizing it. Its very full featured. And since its heavy on the community side i think that there needs to be a lot of features. Especially when embedded.

    I haven't tried Viddler, but I have a special contempt for Vimeo after they broke their arm patting themselves on the back for their "lip dub" of Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta. Not bad, but certainly not as good as they apparently thought.

    The renaming of lip-syncing to lip-dub is especially rich.

For those that don't know, it was done in one take with a cast of what looks like 50 people. As far as patting themselves on the back, that's a bit exaggerated. The clip received a lot of attention from blogs, the media, and according to SamReich.com, even the lead singer of Harvey Danger contacted them to give props.

    I hate TV! I hate what I've seen here! It's even worse!
