Tip: Disable Automatic Restarts in Windows Update

aviransplace.com — Tired of when Windows Update asks you to restart every 10 minutes no matter how many times you say "restart later". Did you get burned the last time Windows XP SP2 Automatic Update decided to automatically restart your computer while you were away? Turn that crap off with group policies.

I have sp2 and it downloads, installs them, then when i go to turn my comp off it says that it's going to install the update before shutting down. The only time my comp shutsdown with out me wanting it to is when windows crashes normally.

    I recently ran the update from the web site, and installed several "important" but not critical updates and it prompted me every 10 min thereafter to restart. Stupid!
