has had this type of functionality for quite some time now though. The difference is that the person who starts the conversation on Tokbox has to be registered on the site (it's free though). Also there's a few cool features there like being able to watch a YouTube video at the same time as everyone else in the chat.

I've used meebo.com and the IM client digsby, both of which connect to Tokbox. All you had to do was be able to log on to one of yours screen names.
