Thunderbird 3 fledges with first alpha release

arstechnica.com — Mozilla Messaging has released Shredder alpha 1, the first official Thunderbird 3 prerelease. It uses Gecko 1.9, a significantly improved version of the underlying rendering engine used by the Mozilla platform. New features in the works include Address Book integration on Mac OS X.
