- fu_fish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't play WoW because I'm not interested in the fantasy genre, but this plague was almost enough to get me to try it. I love that this happened. It really adds to the illusion of the world. Kudos to the developer who accidentally created this plague.
- mikeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What's interesting is that this was posted 6 days ago and just now only popped up? I blame the diggers.
- eigh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i second the notion mikeon. it was posted before the last twit came out and it barely got 20 diggs and never saw the front page. exact same link.
- Draconiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1True story? its nothing i haven't already heard a dozen times over. in-game, blizzard-made, disease causes mass deaths.
- dr.tchock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i'm not one to leave pissed off comments, but this article has no different information than any of the others that have been posted.
misleading title, crap article, don't digg it.
digg has gone to the dogs. - anagami, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0this story is one of the more interesting I've read (the whole Corrupted Blood saga).
+digg - jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is sweet. Its too bad it didn't happen intentionally. I love the idea of a "quarantine"...I bet it was damn scary hiding in the city and seeing it spread.
- phishyJon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very interesting. digg+
- cosmic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0in the PVE (player versus environment) servers where NPC's get affected by area of effect spells and such there was NPC infection i believe.
too funny though, before we know it things like this will probably be intentional for realism in MMORPGS.... - Cheirdal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old lame news. And inaccurate "reporting" in the blog. Everquest II released a plague months before WoW copied the idea. It was also lame on EQ2.
- Firefly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The BBC is now carrying the story as well: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4272418.stm
- adamcurtis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thenik even the NPCs got the plague, it was not just the players
- syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol had you fooled
- clouder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL last line of article made me chuckle. not a fan but i can imagine how sucked in these people get. digg solely based on that 14 year old's comment
- flamencoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This seems very unlikely. How can NPCs "catch" a plague?
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The NPCs didn't, the players did. :/
Good Digg. - GamblerZG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It was just a kind of viral marketing!
- Madcelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I read the article and found it mildly interesting, then I read the comments that were attached to the article.
According to most of those, it's full of inaccuracies, so no Digg from me... - chaoticjelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The true "plague" here is the drug-like addiction of this game. When and where is the first AA for MMORPGers?
- jarinudom, on 03/31/2008, -0/+0Haha I was surprised to hear them discuss this on TWiT
...and even more surprised to find out Leo plays WoW !!!! - CyberWindCloud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0PUBLICITY STUNT.......
- mkjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old news really but I love that 14yr old quote :-)
- greengiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why should I care?
- noobalicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ummmm this has made the front page before. that's the only way i ever would've seen it... so yeah. it made the front page.
- mikeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Amazing, it gained 400 more digs in the 11 hours since my last comment. I wish they would move the digg it button to the bottom of the page next to the "Submit a comment" box, then that way, hopefully, people read the comments first.
- RankenPhile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Again, why is this still being posted? This isn't even the "True" story. The plague escaped the dungeon because it infected someone's pet, and the code didn't check the pet when they left the dungeon, subsequently infecting others.
*sigh* no dig. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BBC..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4272418.stm BBS Story much better
- Calculon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This isnt anything new or "true".. its the same exact story that has been out for weeks! -3 diggs..
- joebus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"How is this different than the 10 OTHER TIMES THIS STORY HAS HIT FRONT PAGE!? Jesus H. ***** Christ. This isn't the "true story behind" it's the same story thats been around for weeks."
^^ lol i bet he died from the plague and ya i digged because of the 14 year old comment :P and yes this thing almost got me playing WoW, even though i think the game is evil - digitaltrav, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1How is this different than the 10 OTHER TIMES THIS STORY HAS HIT FRONT PAGE!? Jesus H. ***** Christ. This isn't the "true story behind" it's the same story thats been around for weeks.
- Greg-J, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Here's what's interesting. I don't play WoW. Not interested in WoW. It's all crap afaik. I heard of some such plague, but didn't even glance at more than a headline.
Digg came along. Put it on the front page. I saw someone digg it because of the last line so I read it. You know what? That last line was worth the Digg.
'One 14-year-old Orc told me openly of the incident: "Humans were dying left and right. We just laughed and laughed."'
That's hillarious. Besides, It's not like there's a shortage of space on the front page for diggs. Quitcherbitchen. - wiu_life, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0http://wowaids.ytmnd.com/
