- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+76good. more funny letters to read.
- pexor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+71They have a porn section that they hide, it's 500 in the Pirate Bay decimal system. For example:
http://thepiratebay.org/browse/500
or
http://thepiratebay.org/top/500
http://thepiratebay.org/top/501
Holla - renegade334, on 10/12/2007, -1/+52Beat me to it!
This is going to make the worlds film industries even more pissed. - davesphone00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Better than Tivo
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19great, easier to find stuff *hides*
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15You're right stealing is bad...good thing downloading tv shows that I already pay for with my cable bill isn't stealing! Even if weren't paying for them already, it still wouldn't be stealing. Please look into the difference between copyright infringement and stealing. KThx.
- deezp1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12This is sweet! but I hope they add RSS feeds to all the shows individually, not just TV as a whole, but sweet none the less.
- Wootery, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13"I know you lot are gonna digg me down for that..."
Let's assume for one minute that digg comments pages are completely fair, a democratic utopia where only bad posts are dugg down.
Even then, is an unsupported flame like "***** Pirate Bay. (I know you lot are gonna digg me down for that...)" going to get modded to anywhere other than oblivion?
Your post is flamebait spam, nothing more. You deserve to be dugg down.
As well as it being useless spam, it also speaks against The Pirate Bay, so what do you expect.
Oh wait, you said already. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11The Pirate Bay is definitely a force for good. Not because we all ultimately want to rip off everybody in the creative industries until the end of time (I for one am happy to pay the actual actors, musicians, technicians etc. that directly contribute to a performance that I enjoy - not only happy to, I WANT to reward them). But instead because it will restore some sanity to the whole business of rewarding performers for their art.
In the old (old, old) days you threw a few coins at the court jester, or bard when he performed at royal court, or in the street. You did not have a row of 20 fat greedy useless people standing in line between you and the performer, all taking their cut for ultimately no real reason.
Filesharing on one hand, and a direct connection between artist and audience on the other (e.g. through MySpace etc) will rapidly democratise the process and force the music and movie industries to become fair again - fair to the artists and the audiences. Respect to Disney for recognising they have to compete with piracy as a business model
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20061010-7946.html
It is the only way forward - those industries are guaranteed to adapt, or die.
I am happy to pay 20c to $1.50 say, for a viewing of a movie etc. if I can get a high quality download which I found easily, downloaded quickly (far more quickly than the snail's pace of an illegal BitTorrent download) and know that most of that money will go to the people that made it. AND if I want to keep a copy, or get a proper printed box to look nice, what I've already paid counts towards the cost.
Currently The Pirate Bay is a modern day Robin Hood - rob from the rich and corrupt, and give to the poor. And more power to them.... - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12[jacobmp92]> ...because the MPAA rely on Digg to find out about The Pirate Bay? Besides, after the last time The Pirate Bay was taken down, I think people will be.. hesitant.. to try again
- Ben - taylorhayward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Here's my music and it's free to download.
http://taylorhayward.org
I'm tired of the music industry slowing down direct to musician progress. - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7fkr2 : It makes it more convent, and that is a large reason piracy is such a "problem" - Because DRM is now so "good", it's very inconvenient to legal watch TV shows without happening to be in the right Country (America, where most of the big TV shows are aired months/years before anywhere else - Prison Break, Lost etc), and if you don't have Satellite TV, your going to have to wait even longer.
Online things like iTMS are fine if you want to watch them on a £300 player that is only available from Apple, the quality isn't as good, I can't play it on XBMC, can't easily move it around computer-to-computer etc..
It's slightly ironic(?) that the anti-piracy methods are increasing piracy - If they (Say, Apple) supplied DRM free films, which downloaded solidly at your connections top speed (Not possible with torrents), at decent quality. *Sure* people could buy it once, and upload a torrent, but they already can - people will pay for convince (Not having to setup RSS feed scanners, check downloads all the time, wait days for torrents to finish, have reliable quality) - Having content locked to a propriety codec, that only plays on a few machines is not convince..
- Ben - sporktek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Sweet! They've got ALF in there!
- tpaine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10seriously ... it always seemed stupid how little categorization bit torrent sites have
- xigxag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Ganner:
I love you
-xigxag - positron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@pexor
I think the reason the porn is hidden is because they have a sister site dedicated to all the adult materials.
http://www.puretna.com
Interesting that you can access this content through TPB's main site, but the search capabilities and other features of PureTnA are much better. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Isn't there something done by the Supreme Court years ago that makes it legal to record tv shows or download tv shows for private viewing? Since it was aired over public air waves?
Isn't that why they've declared its legal to record VHS tapes of movies displayed on TV or TV shows on TV for later viewing? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Erm, I doubt any execs are reading this actually. I'm sure they have better things to do to be quite honest. But your sentiments are broadly correct ;-)
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7all of The Office episodes i've downloaded were from TPB... now there's a section for each season...
two words: suh - weeeet - lucaskiker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@Ganner
I agree. I use tvrss and the rss feature in utorrent and love it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I love knowing that execs are reading this, hell, even this comment, knowing there is NOTHING they can do to stop it :)
Stupid *****.
Now I'm off to download commercial free shows without paying a dime! Weeeee! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
I think that's what they cited for saying why people could record TV shows on VHS tapes. And if you think about it, what's so different about TiVOing a show and downloading it off the internet? You skip the commercials either way. - Kamic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I really enjoy these when I miss shows live or tivo errors, sports like to ruin some of my shows.
- crsd36, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ahhhh the ALF memories. Speaking of which...has anyone seen my cat?
- exobyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@dbr_onix: Some MPAA/RIAA guy admitted that; bad, incompatable DRM drives people to piracy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I don't see how recatagorising torrents to group tv shows together is going to make them more pissed. The torrents for them have been there all along.
- thegenome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I dont think tpb is the most amazing site if you want obscure stuff but whats so great about it is its status and how they've been tried to have been taken down so many times. I have read that now if tpb goes down or servers stolen it will be up again within a few minutes...if you want to see more about tpb's history, there was a film made about it aptly called "steal this fim" which you can get from http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3515729/STEAL_THIS_FILM_(XviD only by torrent :D
- capitapf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think this is what your talking about.
http://www.eff.org/legal/cases/betamax/ - chris86wm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4awsome, thanks for posting this
- 808kick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Porno Valley is a show where they follow around Vivid girls. It's kind of a behind the scenes look at the porn industry.
- bbp9857, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4the difference between recording via tivo and just downloading the content is in who controls the means of distribution. personally, if you already have legal rights to the material in one form, it ought not to matter if you obtain it via another. but scores of copyright holders would disagree with me there.
- SergeStormz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've never used Pirate Bay. What's better Pirate Bay or isohunt? I've used isohunt for ages, and I just don't know if there's anything that beats it.
Also, the TV companies have wanted to make recording even on VHS illegal for sometime. But, it's just not going to fly.
Consumers have more power in this world than ever. The internet will end up being the next TV for sure. It's just a matter of time before one network makes a show that's ONLY available for download, it becomes a hit, then everyone follows. - toodamfast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I used tvrss twice and got a nasty letter from my ISP/NBC.

>antipiracy@nbcuni.com" - jackminardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Finally, I can watch House MD season one
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3(The means of) Piracy is the future.. Look at MP3's, VHS tapes, Cassette tapes - All feared as the death of the music/film industry, later all were/are a huge part of those industries. Best (most recent) example : Apple's Music Store - Without things like mp3's (Or AIFF files), it wouldn't exist (And neither would MP3 players like the iPod), and it's "changing the face of the music industry"
Seeing as how bittorrent (And similar "services") are currently being hailed as the death of the movie industry, it can't be long till it follows a similar path..
As for The Pirate Bay being better than ISOHunt, it's, well, not.. It is how-ever a very popular site/tracker, thusly there is a lot of stuff, and it's mostly well seeded.. The torrent sites aren't really important, it's what's on them that is
- Ben - Atlantics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What's Porno Valley?...
- starguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Fortunes are built upon piracy
PIRACY made the PC (from bills pirated basic tapes, to thousands of pirated copies of DOS and early software programs)
PIRACY, I dare say, fueled the growth of the internet (you could argue porn... but software came first)
PIRACY built Comcast (its the bulk of their traffic and they know it)
PIRACY *made* the Ipod (made, as in made man... or rather, propelled it). There wold be no Ipod if there hadn't been a Napster, or Morpheus before hand. - tito13kfm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You realize that tvrss.net is not a tracker correct? They are just an RSS of indexed torrent files available on other trackers. They pull most of their content from TPB.
- drafhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Awesome. What I don't like: the only reason I use bittorrents in the first place is so I can download in bulk (ie, seasons, discographies, etc). None of the torrents for the major shows download more than one episode. Btjunkie, we love you. But props to TPB just for doing it so unabashedly and shoving their proverbial thumb further up the film industries' collective asses.
- scarwars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.mininova.org/cat/8
got all the tvshows you need (plus rss feeds) - KitsunePaws, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That's what I was waiting for :)
- Sassanix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2thesprawl.se has been my fave tv torrent sites for months now but then again more sites better :)
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm not claiming to pay for the cost of creating the show. I'm claiming by paying my cable bill, I'm paying for access to the channels and the right to watch the shows. Also if not watching the advertisements classifies as "stealing" (do you mean copyright infringement? wtf?) then no one "pays" for the content.
- furryplanet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was just about to make a digg story about this but ya beat me to it... Yeah im a little slow :P
Still a really cool find. Nice Post! - bangmalley, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2i will use it after I have a new hard drive.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is real good and fine but I want a place with Twin Peaks season 2 and on, either a not all huge file size torrent, or rss. A stream would rule. Any help?
- FarcicalFart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Tvrss.net is the best I have found. I used to use tvtorrent.info until they went down. TVRss.net + democracy really is awsome.
- Thor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2
This is great. The episodes are sorted so I can find the most recent. But where's Doc Who? - brian_hundt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@pexor, I hereby do speculate that you're a genius.
- ruyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Super Slick
Way to go Pirate Bay! :) -
