- UnpossibIe, on 07/03/2009, -2/+37Why are you downloading unsupported third party software into a work computer? I'll have to report you now, and remove your administrator rights. I knew you were trouble!
- pstroll, on 07/03/2009, -5/+23***** Microsoft ad won't shut the ***** up.
- whoreable, on 07/03/2009, -3/+16I just fapped my way through 7 layers of porn.
- chronobyte, on 07/03/2009, -4/+15Dugg for the trippy pic of Mr. Bean
- timschuit, on 07/03/2009, -4/+12Nobody uses macs.
- insertAliasHere, on 07/03/2009, -4/+11Except that this isn't just opacity. It not only goes translucent, but clicks go through it as if it wasn't actually there. For all it's amazing *****, I don't remember Compiz being able to do that.
Also Compiz is a "third party" piece of software too. Sure, some distros bundle Compiz by default now, but it's not actually built in to the OS. - devila2208, on 07/03/2009, -2/+5Doesn't do any good when youtube is blocked at work.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -2/+5And half of the adults.
- Mizzike, on 07/03/2009, -3/+6The article says that you can click through the window to the application below it. Kinda different from setting opacity levels.
- nugx, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Get back to work you lazy *****.
- CityandColourrr, on 07/03/2009, -6/+8I doubt half the little kids on Digg even have jobs.
- insertAliasHere, on 07/03/2009, -3/+5Yeah it does, but....how is that relevant? This browser will go transparent and let you click through it. Visual Studio's browsing is basically a WebBrowser object, a gimped IE instance that acts as another tab in the IDE. Not really the same thing.
- TrancePhreak, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2Because you'd have the IDE up and easily able to switch to other things. Sounds like the point of this whole thing.
- oriondr, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Ever heard of adblock?
- illspirit, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Not the best grammatical skills; some parts of the article were barely understandable.
- Litespeed, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1It doesn't, which is why the title is so wildly inaccurate.
- peaceFrogs, on 07/03/2009, -6/+7macs are overpriced and useless unless you are into video arts, you plan to treat the thing like *****(theyre very solidly built), or are some stupid pathetic souls whose only concern is that it looks pretty :P
- yuanzhoulu, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1well the problem i always have is, these kind of keys like Ctrl+Esc never respond quick enough when your PC is processing data at full capacity.
nothing like a good old KVM switch and another computer. - Traumaa, on 07/03/2009, -2/+3thats cos it isnt cost effective making these kind of apps for macs considering the domination of windows in the market.
- colk, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1so how does this let you see youtube when its blocked or bypass the proxy logs showing you browsing bad stuff
- wmuldoon, on 08/19/2009, -0/+1Desktop Publishing, Graphic Arts in general...
a lot easier to admin, mostly due to it now being UNIX.
Not a Fanboy, but do some IT work at a newspaper, and i'd much rather hang out on Mac's over XP builds. even with the corporate builds, XP is a pain in the ass. - 7aji, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Ghosts at Starbucks?? I see them all the time drinking coffee there.
- randumbusername, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1ghostzilla was cool back in the day. don't know much about it now.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -1/+2I love having that excuse.
- uzair21, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1And Half of that reason the silly things they do at work
- uzair21, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Only Ghosts use Mac
- pkizzle, on 07/04/2009, -1/+2Plus not a lot of people can run Linux at work. it is a windows/corporate world.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1iPhone
- CityandColourrr, on 07/03/2009, -2/+2That's true.. but half of that reason is because of the economy.
- mparker21311, on 07/03/2009, -8/+8Time to install Faronics Deepfreeze.
- ElBeh, on 07/03/2009, -4/+4If anyone doesn't understand it, the application is a web browser that can turn semitransparent and lets you interact with what's under the browser window.
- tfm123, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1not something new I guess, I often set my linux terminal to transparent
- bloogey, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1GBTFW!
- Traumaa, on 07/05/2009, -0/+0insertAliasHere > Yes its Free but still takes time to build and maintain, there for adding a whole new operating system to the works doubles this work load. i.e. the phrase "cost effective" = "time is money, money is time" =)
- mrBitch, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1RE: " Faronics Deepfreeze"
" .. Faronics Deep Freeze has all but bitten the dust at this point. They have been struggling to secure their program against a program called Unfreezer by Emiliano Torres (a black hat programmer in Santa Rosario, Argentina).
In the last three versions of Deep Freeze, they have completely failed to stop Unfreezer from being able to thaw systems
without the password."

Foreigner - Double Vision - Vedlen, on 07/04/2009, -0/+0Yup, but something new for Windows
- deadsoldier, on 07/03/2009, -9/+8Compiz Fusion had the ability to do this for Linux LONG ago.. even before it was renamed to Compiz Fusion in fact!
I use it to do exactly this actually, when im taking lecture notes.
Opacity isn't a wow feature unless you run windows. So yay for windows finally getting features from a third party, it should have had years ago, built into the OS itself. Bunch of muppets - insertAliasHere, on 07/03/2009, -3/+2Except that this is a free download. How does cost-effectiveness have anything to do with an app that they are giving away?
- drex8, on 07/03/2009, -3/+2So is it a browser by itself, or an application which can be run on FF or IE or other browsers? The faqs and help section at http://www.godoublevision.com/ wasn't very helpful in this regard.
For me, there's no point in downloading just another browser just to watch them in transparent mode, while working on another application. - Prometeus, on 07/03/2009, -6/+5...am I the only one who can set unique opacity levels for windows? It's very easy to do in KDE, I assume you can do the same in GNOME and others.
- mparker21311, on 07/03/2009, -8/+6To the person who buried me, do you know what Deepfreeze is? You can prevent anyone from making changes on your computer if you have it installed.
- crit1caL, on 07/03/2009, -4/+2Leave, leave now before the admin banz you.
- Plonkely, on 07/03/2009, -4/+2Has the translucent gentleman in front of the Photoshop window been taking fashion tips from Bill Gates?
- Boogiedude, on 07/03/2009, -5/+3Good stuff!
- TrendyTim, on 07/04/2009, -4/+2Ive been using transparency for 10 years on windows, i dont know how long compiz fusion has been around, but im a windows fanboy (and don't worry i have cognitive dissonance about that all the time) so i dont really care either.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -5/+1Buried for caring about what other people like.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -6/+2oh boohoo i'm a mac user and i have to pay ***** tons for expensive software boohoo
