- chuckmagnum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1seems like there is a firefox 10 best extensions story everyweek
- nugget, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or, I could find out which ones are for me and people could stop posting these, everyone has their own preferences. Like I do not like mouse gestures, so this is not what everyone should have its all based off of what the author likes. yes lots of people use adblock, but not everyone has to use it.
- bouche, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i hate those headlines "can't live without". I'm living just fine without any extensions.
- spectre_25gt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Personally, I don't really care for any of the extensions on that page. I can certainly live without them.
- Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lot of nice add-ons that weren't on the last top 10 list, even installed 4 of them :)
I'll digg it. - hasbeen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I kinda like Top10 firefox extension posts as you can always find hidden gems. I think this one is a fairly good list, especially with tab mix plus and adblock plus, ones most lists don't have. However, it's also missing several major ones, likes PDF Download and IE tab, which I think is superior to IE view.
- skoskie, on 04/15/2009, -0/+0Six pages? You need six pages of writing to tell me about a top 10 list. Bullet that bitch and get on with it.
- vodkamattvt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had to disable fasterfox because it tended to bloat firefox with extreme use. For example, after an hour of html based instant messaging (lots of opening and closing of small windows) or looking at many images, or just opening many pages, firefox would take around 900+ megs of memory. Then it would frequently crash.
Disabling fasterfox and the problem is no more. The speed difference is pretty much unnoticeable from my end between using it and not. - acemilo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If its a dupe then i missed it before. I installed most of these plugins and I'm lovin em, so +digg.
- crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I lived fine without! Now stop sumbitting this crap.
- quigglepuss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16 pages? At least link to the for-print version: http://www.personaltechpipeline.com/shared/article/printablePipelineArticle.jhtml?articleId=177103998
- 0Troy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gave up trying to keep up with extensions a long time ago. Just have adblock. Now I know what really works without having to trust "most popular" or "highest rated" which may not be either after the next version is released... Good article. Dugg...
- Gir1337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mozilla Foundation has already built as many features in as you need. All of these extensions are bloatware.
- CoolWind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice article. Although I already had over 50 extensions installed, I added 3 more from his list.
- Gir1337, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Wow, stop it with all the Extensions. I've seen about 138743 so far, and I use one. This is freaking spam, and it's annoying. Post news and tech stuff that matters (like Slashdot!).
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0some extensions I never knew about....kinda useful tho a dupe.
- joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2looks like someone else got the 'the only way to be a tech journalist is to list your favorite firefox extensions in an article and try and get people to read it' memo
if i list my favorite extensions does that make me cool?
or better yet i need to come up with an extension that blocks pages of lists of firefox extensions - jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't DLed these yet, but it would be nice if the Mozilla Foundation could build as many extensions in as they could without making Firefox bloated, if that's even possible.
- vfwlkr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Atleast he got this right:
"The original adlbock is THE reason some people switched to firefox" - redivider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love the FlashBlock example. If you're on the actual page on the Macromedia site where you learn about Flash's features and buy the program, why would you want to block Flash content? I agree they kind of overdo it on their own site, but they have a product for sale and they're trying to showcase what it can do. If you don't like seeing Flash content you're probably not gonna be on the Flash website thinking about buying a program that creates the same content you're trying to block.
- Reliant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This ranks right up there with seeing Jack Thompson all the time on the front page of Digg. Please Digg users check the damn search feature before posting. That's one of the reasons its there for!!
- mousky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMG, I have only one of those extensions. How will I continue on? Life has no meaning. Time to call it quits. See ya all. Lame article. No digg.
- thetyrant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like this post.. There are a few extentions that i never got into at first glance.. but after seeing a brief review and know how of it.. It looks like my browser has been dug.. thanks digg.
- nymph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can live without Firefox so no digg
Opera FTW! - gagin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't "Tab mix Plus" provides "Disable Targets For Downloads" functionality?
- BusyME, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Found 5 I'd never heard of and LOVE! Great article! +digg!
- jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0With all due dis and/or respect gir1337, you don't know -what- the hell I need. So kindly go hump the proverbial stump.
- sampun00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have add Tab Mix Plus and IE View lite to my extensions.
Digggggg! - saysaknow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it just me, or does Faster fox actually slow web page loads?
- capajc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Die, diggbots, die. ("no no, it's merely German for, "The diggbots, the.")
I'd digg the idea if the article didn't have 6 pages. Why couldn't they just do it in one? Do people seriously like clicking through all those pages to get the info they came for? Why can't the "Print this story" option be the default? - donolsen1155, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Not only is this a dupe, it's starting to be more like spam.
Yes, Firefox is awsome, but how many times do we need to hear
Top 10 [whatever] you can't live without!!!
And somehow they end up getting dugg to the top? Are there Diggbot's making this happen? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I've yet to get adblock plus to work reliably for extended periods of times. I'll stick with adblock. Any article that tells me to ignore complaints (and many complaints for this particularly buggy product) can go boil an oil.
- joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0also, let's not forget what a horrible list this actually is aside from the fact it's a crappy article
this list is much much better
http://pchere.blogspot.com/2005/12/50-best-firefox-extensions-for-power.html
and yes, i got this list from a digg link (maybe i should submit it again, because apparently, that's the only way to be cool around here)
i'm also re-submitting my modded down coments from above
---------------------------------------
looks like someone else got the 'the only way to be a tech journalist is to list your favorite firefox extensions in an article and try and get people to read it' memo

-------------------------------------------------
please find it in your heart to +lame - Dirk7589, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I agree not only do we see way to many top ten FireFox articles, this one isn't particularly helpful. I found it to be long and full of irritating adds. In the end I didn't find anything I needed or wanted in this article.
- donolsen1155, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Is that really Chuck Norris disguised as joel2600!!!
Would you do us a favor and roundhouse kick all submissions like this one?
There really is no such thing as the Digg effect, only web sites Chuck Norris has round house kicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - swaxhog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I think it's funny that the #1 extension is adblock and he explains how great it is while there are 35 blocked elements on the page that adblock zapped. I'm sure their revenue is awsome.
- KriLL3.2™, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Radial Context. (Context sensitive mouse gestures)
http://www.radialthinking.de/radialcontext
Set it to "drag only".
One of the best addons, ever. - plasticmind, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1That and the writing was terrible. Utterly horrible.
- phunlee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1So don't digg it. Don't ***** comment on it. Doesn't all that ***** push it up???
I hate you whiny *****.
There are new digg users everyday, let them read some stuff we got to months ago...Damnit. - nberry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2man, we need more "X Firefox Extensions You Can't Live Without" like we need more "Ultimate Guide to do cool CSS stuff".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Piss off. How many of these stories will you torture us with each week? CHOKE & DIE.
- dmron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Oh, sweet, this is only what, the 5 billionth "best firefox extensions" article? Wow, that's sweet. Just what we freaking need.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Piss off. How many of these stories will you torture us with each week. CHOKE & DIE.
- juan23, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1No digg, this sucks...
- mistshadow2k4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"Piss off. How many of these stories will you torture us with each week. CHOKE & DIE."
I feel much the same about the continual barrage of Mac stories. There are a lot more of them every single frigging day than firefox stories. - joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1how did my comment get a -2 ... first a crappy article (that nobody wants to see) makes it to the front page, then you mod my relevant comments down?
seems like they let the people in the special ed classes in highschool surf digg - fr0z3nph03n1x, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I hate to flame, but I'm going to anyway. Opera you don't need 400 million "extensions". No more lists and lists of stuff I can't live without that the browser did not come with originally.
- SmartyMcGenius, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Yeah, you don't need extensions in Opera -- you just have to edit js files. Real user friendly there.
I went to look for Opera's version of AdBlock. Buried among the myriad comments of "you shouldn't block ads" were instructions on how to set it up manually or you could download an entire .exe file and install that.
Yes, much easier and better than Firefox. /sarcasm - kcornwell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+06 stupid pages of ads for what? a list I've seen a thousand times. whoooopie. and this is #1 article on digg? wtf?
- Lorian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0"Are extensions safe?
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html"
Some of that stuff is clearly bias, most notably is the thing about the acid test at the bottom, sure, it doesn't render right in FF, but they fail to mention the truly horrendous rendering in IE
What is Digg?
