- NoonienSoong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lets say you just want to share them between pc's on the local network, heres how:
Open Firefox and type in the address about:config.
Right click on the page and select ‘New->String’.
Enter browser.bookmarks.file and hit ok.
Now you can enter \NetworkFolderbookmarks.html as the value.
Once this is set, restart Firefox. Thats it
about:config
New->String
browser.bookmarks.file
\NetworkFolderbookmarks.html
Please be aware that each time you close firefox it saves its current bookmarks, if you have firefox open on two computers then one that you close last will overwrite any changes you made on the other. - lazylegs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bookmark Synchronizer is great, but with no 1.5-compatible version in sight, it's time to start looking for alternatives.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If anyone is interested I have a PHP file that will parse the uploaded XML file from this extension. This basically allows you to access your bookmarks from anywhere on any browser. If your interested in a copy drop me an email @ y393ichkh9ofl7r@jetable.com (this email will expire by 5th Dec 2005).
- andyatkinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just installed FF 1.5 since Ars Technica mentioned that 1.5 is sitting on the Mozilla FTP servers. Bookmarks Synchronizer works great after you update it.
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5/
When you FF the first time it will say that Bookmarks Synchronizer is not compatible. Hit 'OK' then go grab the update for the extension (thanks dcormann):
http://btcorp.dyndns.org/Tools/FireFoxExtensions/FF_1.5_extensions/ - CritterNYC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lots of Portable Firefox users are using this as well. I generally suggest using your own FTP space though rather than a free one, though.
- aubrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In the comments section of the Bookmark Synchronizer page is a link to a 1.5RC3 compatible version. I'm using that and it seems to work as expected. But ya, hopefully, the offical version will get updated soon.
- beefster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Use del.icio.us and the sync extension here : http://dietrich.ganx4.com/foxylicious/ then you don't need to use an ftp server.
- SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Poor timing on the posting of this extension. Everybody who is digging it will be sorely disappointed to find it broken when they upgrade to 1.5 later today.
- deadkenny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I prefer the Yahoo toolbar for this (http://toolbar.yahoo.com/). It means I get my bookmarks anywhere in the world on any Firefox or IE browser with the Yahoo toolbar installed.
- kf_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I personally love this extension, but it's not new by any means. In fact, I've been using this for about a year now and I am growing more and more depressed that there is no update in sight. Hopefully someone will step up and take over the project, but in the meantime it looks as though the developer has abandoned the project. This is very disappointing since I can't seem to find anything else that works the way I would like it to.
- whizzbang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its great! but I'm waiting for the 1.5 upgrade! My Bookmarks are getting seriously out of synch!
- kderby2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Try out www.abstractmouse.com instead.
The Bookmarks Synchronizer extension hasn't been updated in over a year (nor have any of the other extensions by this author), so I'm not so sure he's going to update it for 1.5.
In addition, I had some problems using this extension, when it was set to sync the bookmarks upon browser start-up; the Sage newsreader feed folder would get screwed up, because the file was in use by the bookmark sync tool when the RSS feed folder was trying to be determined. - DarthDaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A lot easier to export bookmarks than go through the trouble of this.
no digg - bg_27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been using this for a long time now and LOVE IT, my bookmarks are synched perfectly with my home and work pc's to my own FTP. I really hope that they update it for 1.5, or else i wont upgrade!
- edmicman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do you handle bookmarks at home that you don't, ahem, want to be listed at work? :-P
- leha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0check out sitebar , much more convenient
- ciaocibai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it has never worked for me on my webdav server, and the support is unexistent! i love the idea though. bastards.
- ruadrift, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This doesn't work very well if you are using folders with your bookmarks. Aside from not keeping the bookmarks in the same order, it doesn't copy all of them. I've also been using the chipmark extension, which doesn't lose anything but it doesn't support folders.
I'm going to be trying some the extensions mentioned here for a hopefully better solution.
thanks - mm1power, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've tried a few tools, none work flawlessly. Another good one is Sync2It's. www.sync2it.com
- PlayWithFire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this was good, when it worked
there's no 1.5 version
abstactmouse.com is much better. - MemoryDump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very nice.. works great via ftp! can't wait to see sftp support added! (i hope) I don't really want to "share" my bookmarks with everybody on del.icio.us so this is perfect!
good +digg - bryan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Be nice if there was a extension loke this that did; bookmarks, cookies, passwords, and history.
- MasterDwarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yep, just what I need. Now they need it for 1.5!
- ScottC94, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This thing is perfect! For months I've been importing and exporting my bookmarks between mine and my parents computer. Good way to backup your bookmarks too. Thank you!!
- vh1`, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use keywords for to quickly access bookmarks and for quick searches
does del.icio.us let me do that?
cause I really need a way to keep all my bookmarks in synch - pirateboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok this is cool and all but is there something cool enough to let me sync my extensions? i have alot of them now.
- spin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ehhh, im going to stick to the bash script i wrote that uses rsync
- paOol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0goddam, i needed this BEFORE i reformatted my computer and lost all my bookmarks. -_-
- joeyjojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use http://spurl.net for this
- datter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0www.spurl.net
- dcormann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://btcorp.dyndns.org/Tools/FireFoxExtensions/FF_1.5_extensions/
BambiTroll has updated this plugin so that it works in FF 1.5 - erissiva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've had quite a few problems with this and del.icio.us, so I just use ConnectedY (http://www.connectedy.com)
- zelig2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Syncing between computers? OSX does it all for me on my .mac account.
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hopefully they'll update the extension to work with 1.5. It sounds great :)
- jojo81, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Exactly what I was looking for!
- mercury81, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You can do the same thing with Yahoo Toolbar and I think the Windows Live suite also has something like this as well.
- dep01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Syncing bookmarks between computers? Yeah, it's called http://del.icio.us.
- julieomg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0awesome!
- andyatkinson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Me too. The extension is great, and looks like it will work with FF 1.5 when it comes out this/next week.
- decompiler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0uh... del.icio.us? ever heard of it? no digg.
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Who'd use fiddly Firefox when there's Opera?

What is Digg?
