- kitzke, on 10/26/2007, -3/+16This let's you import Google Calendars into Outlook, NOT syncronize. Inaccurate.
- kitzke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Didn't mean to be harsh, but true syncronization (bidirectional) is a hot topic that many people are looking for. Just trying to prevent people from getting disappointed.
- shindig111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I agree with kitzke on the sync definition.
I really wish that google calendar synced with outlook... - SoccerBoy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6If it was syncronize it would be great... sorry no DIGG
- dizzley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Looks like the latest beta of this will actually SYNC Google and Outlook calendar looking at comments in the blog and at SourceForge.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3With the Gcal API being released what we're all asking for shouldn't be too far away.
- shaund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I sync Outlook with my treo... It would be cool to have outlook sync with Google Calendar so other people can make appointments that will be sent to my treo...Sorry... my comment wasnt meant to put you down or anything
- shaund, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Syncing the two is just what I am looking for... unfortunately...just as kitske said... it just exports google's to outlook's... we need something to go both ways!!
- wardawg31, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Grinndaddy, you are correct in saying you are synchronizing your calendars. The definition of synchronize is: to represent or arrange (events) to indicate coincidence or coexistence. What the harsh responders mean in their post is that you are not explaining how to automatically synchronizing your calendars.
It just seems that they have some latent anger at their work or MS for not allowing an easier "auto" sync. function. - tahim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1close, but not yet. gcal doesn't support recurring events from outlook. would love to get rid of outlook, but not there yet.
- cr0wn3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Either way, your write up is great. Thanks a tonne. I find google calendar so useful Ive all but stopped using my PDA - so to have it all on there again will be brilliant. Cheers.
- eric613, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think everyone is a little too worried about the definition of Sync. This is a great tool and as I maintain my google calendar, outlook follows right along. Sure, I've noticed tiny little quirks but I am willing to take them. My wife and I share my google calendar online so we can always be up to date with each other. It is much easier than trying to verbally update each other all the time. So I guess for me, it isn't such a huge deal that it works with outlook, or syncs both ways, per se. However, the google calendar has pretty crummy printing abilities right now and outlook is much more versatile in that regard, so this program works great for me. Thanks for the great walk-through!
- hankosky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ther has got to be an Eaiser way..
- sdhull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would just like to point out that in the options it provides the option to "sync both ways". Sounds like syncing to me. Only problem is that it doesn't work at all. Not one way or the other for me.
- abouthere, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Installed it. Set it up. It wiped over 2000 entries from my Outlook Calendar and left me in a cold sweat. Thankfully I managed to reclaim everything from the deleted items folder but it cleared my PDA before I realised I could do this.
AVOID THIS PRODUCT and wait for Office 2007 which I'm sure will have some kind of "Live" service integrated to do it. - Morelia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Calgoo, http://calgoo.com does sync (bidirectional) with Google calendar ... but I wish that Google had a desktop verson of the calendar to sync with the online version. Sometimes I need to make an appointment on my laptop when I am not online.
- jar240, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can also try CompanionLink for Google Calendar. It isn't a free product, but will work. The only major/minor annoyance is that it doesn't handle exceptions to recurring appointments, as apparently Google Calendar itself doesn't support this feature.
Chris - sunk818, on 06/07/2009, -0/+0Google has a desktop Calendar & Contact Sync with Outlook. But for those of us still using Windows 2000, we can't use Google Sync. CalGoo, recommended above, seems to work okay with Windows 2000. For sync Google Contacts with Outlook Contacts (two-way), I'm trying GO Contact Sync (a company out of New Zealand).
- Huwd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just imported a calendar, previously saved as a CSV file from Outlook 2003, into a Google calendar. I'm having trouble going the other way. I'm going to check Grindaddy's contribution now........
- martien, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0This sync app is an extremely unsafe tool! It says on the Google sync web page that it only syncs your primary Google calendar. But that is misleading: I just synched and found my work Outlook schedule on one of my secondary calendars. This calendar is public! Beware.
- antifoundation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0See http://www.jakeludington.com/ask_jake/20060818_how_to_sync_google_calendar_with_outlook_and_smartphones_automatically.html for instructions that are more clear.
- whoisvaibhav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You can always checkout SyncMyCal at http://www.syncmycal.com. This plugin offers one-way, two-way many-to-many sync between Outlook and Google.
- devilish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well, we're brutal because (I think) most of us want it in the other direction --- we're forced to use Outlook at work and would love to export to GCal so that we have it all in one place that's reachable from anywhere.
I can't get to my work calendar without my secureID, laptop, etc. - mertiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I looked at all possibilities and the best is really scheduleworld.com with the funambol client for outlook. It can access and sync your Google Calendar automatically at each synchronisation with the funambol client for outlook.
Just sign in to scheduleworld.com , go to preferences and add your google calendar, make sure that scheduleworld.com will synchronise automatically your google calendar. After this, just download the outlook funambol client here :
http://www.scheduleworld.com/tg/syncmlInfo.jsp
install it, configure it with outlook and with your scheduleworld Webdav adress, and you're all done! You can even sync contacts with thunderbird this way with the thunderbird syncml client. - jtretakoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's not a sync. It's a master->slave. Sync means make changes in either, and changes propagate to both.
- cyberhex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I also use Google calendar and Microsoft Outlook and wanted a two-way sync. I developed a product called gSyncit that accomplishes this. If interested, you can downloading it here...
http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/ - whoisvaibhav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0SyncMyCal has released a new version (1.3) which adds new features and also fixes some issued that users were facing. http://www.syncmycal.com/whats_new.htm
- cybertron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Actually... "Sync Google Calendar *WITH* Outlook" is accurate. It does not read... sync google calendar *AND* outlook. This application is mostly useful for its ability to sync outlook with say... a cellphone, or treo or whatever you can normally sync with outlook. That way google calendar can be your primary calendar and outlook only used to sync handheld devices. If you're using outlook to POST events, that is defeating the purpose of google calendar, no? and yeah, recurring events would be nice, but that feature was JUST added to goocal (google desktop plugin) so I bet that feature is soon to be added to this outlook plugin.
- somatt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0does not work at all. Deleted all my calendar information off of outlook. do not use this unless you know what you are doing and back up your stuff first. All I want to do is publish my calendar from smartphone/windows mobile to gcal. This product, even if it did work, syncs only one way and it is the WRONG way!
- somatt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0does not work at all. Deleted all my calendar information off of outlook. do not use this unless you know what you are doing and back up your stuff first.
- DarrenS, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Actually, it should be "Sync Outlook *WITH* Google Calendar" since Google Calendar is being copied to Outlook.
- grinndaddy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Wow. You guys are brutal. I guess I didn't think of it that way. I maintain my Google Calendar and it downloads into Outlook, effectively keeping the two synchronized. They are therefore synced. So Google Calendar is synced with Outlook.
