- buckaroo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You know, for a site called "SpreadFirefox", you'd think there would be a clear "Download FireFox!" link somewhere above the fold. Sure, I know where to grab it, and so does most everyone here. But if you're new to this, and someone told you "oh, just go to the speadfirefox.com site", you'd have to hunt around a little for the link (and btw, the download.com Mac link is broken).
I'm not a marketing person, but I'd say "put the damn link up top where people with a 5 second attention span can see it!" - chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3buckaroo
There have been some very loud, and prominent voices at SFX who have said that a clear "getfirefox now" button at the top right hand corner of the site wouldn't hurt anything, and could only help.
I think SFX would do better as a Wiki... but as it stands now, it is quagmired in politics. And by politics I mean pretend politics where the admins pretend that SFX needs 16 layers of defense and stability to defend it against the unwashed masses. It is unfortunate that they don't see that the unwashed masses are the ones who would be using a central Wiki state to organize ideas and correct others (standard wiki stuff), and otherwise make the site cleaner, faster, and ultimately, more productive.
It was like pulling teeth to get the admins to admit that they needed to hand some control over to a few more people to help deal with all the spam (for which users couldn't moderate out of existence... it would just sit there... for as long as a week until an admin got around to fixing it).
Then there were the unclosed tags. Yes... a href was the worst. You could essentially lock your post from being voted on (making the vote button link to whatever you wanted) and various other glitches and problems. There are still many current problems that I won't post here, as they would be exploited.
Bottom line, there needs to be an OFFICIAL SFX Wiki. - chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interestingly enough, http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q= seems to still default to the old page.
- chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love this video:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5553375459677145292&q=funnyfox (Google flash video).
Funny, though I saw it quite a while back, it is nice to see it, and other similar efforts, more prominent on SFX. - ani-pockdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DONE!!!

- kherrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0for some stupid reason, the audio doesn't play on my Firefox 1.5, Linux box... yes, my audio is turned up.
- franksands, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe they think SFX is for people who already have FF...(it's the best I could think) though a get FF on the top wouldn't hurt :P
- sudoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good stuff chrono13
- MindTrigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Think of SFX as a "corporate" site for the advertising division of Firefox. "getfirefox.com" is the download site where spreadfirefox.com is about people getting involved in the viral advertising of the browser.
I agree though, they should use a button on the front page at least. - mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Am I the only one who thinks that the Ads they have so far as examples are terrible? They make no sense at all. I was excited for the firefox ad campaign, but only before I saw these.
- ani-pockdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I got the music, just need the FLV file converted into a video file.
- rexstuff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Firefox? Bah! Real geeks use Opera :)
- demonthises, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ani-pockdotnet try the guys over at redvsblue.com
They did a little piece on "mac gamers" a while back, and I believe they used the same music or something similiar to it.
On a side note, if you move about 4-5 feet away from your monitor and look at the "l" and "i" in "Firefox Flicks", those 2 characters look like a "u". - hugotheschmugo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can also spread IE if you're in that mood.

Heh.. - HackWithRamzi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Those are the worst piece of crap ads I have ever seen, next to a few for some local companies (man they suck).
Why have geeks submit their crappy videos, when they could spend a little $$ and get some talented people to make them.
Cheap Euros! (joking of course) - DMCau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Those sample ads are really terrible.
- theletterg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice firefox paint job on alienware
- ani-pockdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok I got the music. I need a Windows user to use fraps to capture this google video (with the sound please) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4721098883546722619&q=firefox and email me the file: thisismarky at yahoo and I'll slap in the "Switch" music.
- ani-pockdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok does anyone know where I can get he background music that was used with the Apple "Switch" campaign? Cuz these Firefox video testimonials are dying to have it added.
- nitemike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0extentions rock, manage multiple gmail accounts.
- titeuf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0nice, how more people know about firefox and use it, how better.
- tweeto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Mastertech, I've just blocked you, that's it, no more spam, ***** and whining from you Microsoft spy's...
