- canewediggit, on 10/11/2007, -10/+185great idea, i think it could work. now get the hell out of our clubhouse! i want to walk around digg in my boxers while scratching myself.
somebody beer me. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -12/+169Women might be more effective on Digg if they were allowed to vote, which they are not.
They also cannot drive very well. - canewediggit, on 10/11/2007, -8/+114you want to walk around in your bra? solid! extra digg if you go topless!
- antispimmer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+89The site went down on me.
- mrsvandertramp, on 10/11/2007, -6/+77two things:
#A) any chick with a desk job? how bout we just leave it at web wandering women.
#B) canewedigggit -- we don't mind you walking around in your digg boxers if you don't mind us prancing about in our sk*rt bras. cool? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+67Site's down. *perfect time for sexual innuendo*
- tomboy501, on 10/11/2007, -2/+61Wow...I just took a look.
umm...here's a few from the FP:
"Looking for the most beautiful return address labels ever?"
"Decorate your own felt cake with the Twinkle Cake Kit!"
"How to Get Nichole Richies Shoes for $25..."
...and my personal favorite: "MomSpit. It's for moms who don't want to spit."
Kidding, right? I'll think I'd rather deal with the boxers and scratching around here. - dani8559, on 10/11/2007, -6/+59"Now I'm sure that there are women out there who care that 'Dell quietly drops extended warranty support for Ubuntu' or that "3rd Party iPhone App SDK to Launch at WWDC?", but I certainly don't know them. Get my drift?"
Um, I'm a woman and I care about these things. Digg is a technology site, not a boys-only club. It doesn't help the gender divide at all to say "oh, well, since there are men we should just further the gap by leaving." But the worst part is that they are making assumptions about what is characteristically female-oriented, which is exactly why there are so many assumptions about what women are interested in in the first place. Sure, I wear mascara and enjoy a skirt on a warm day, but please don't tell me that because I'm a "chick with a desk job," I shouldn't be interested as interested in technology.
Also, I hate blog spam. just link to the main site (when it works.) - tomboy501, on 10/11/2007, -2/+54yeah, but it's the variety on digg's FP...where else will you see this kind of stuff all in a row??
The gay KKK dude
Jesus Camp
Picture of two people falling to their death
Car stuff
Something about someone's big bum
Global Warming
Disney
More cars
The Universe
the Guy peeing on Google Earth
Cheney being a dick again
Microsoft bashing
...and Olbemann
????
Life is good :) - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+58Site down?? Don't worry their support team is on it.
http://www.birkoph.com/tech/IT_femaleit.jpg - mrfreeziexp, on 10/11/2007, -5/+52Am I the only one that read, "and for men who want to get head"?
- telair, on 10/11/2007, -0/+45Why do I feel something is censored everytime I read that name?
- rosefu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+47While digg is not the friendliest of places to the female viewpoint, self-segregation does not pave the way to a more enlightened world.
- herrshuster, on 10/11/2007, -1/+45it's like digg...without the news
- gwenkelly, on 10/11/2007, -5/+36*** WARNING: POST BY A CHICK ***
I had no idea Digg was "geared toward males". I always thought of it as "geared towards tech geeks". It's user driven community, and we post and digg things that we find interesting, cool, or useful. There are chicks on digg, and we may be a minority, but we are here because we want to be, not because we couldn't find something better. This is the internet for *****'s sake. We can all be in our underwear, and we can be equal. My digg counts as much as yours. Why bother pointing out repeatedly that this site lacks chicks? I would assume it has exactly the community it needs: those who want to be here. What I really have to say about the gender thing is, DUDES, GET OVER IT!! There are chicks on digg, and we digg it just as much as you do. Stop assuming we are of a different species. I want my tech news, and I enjoy it in my boxers with a beer the same as you.
Now beer me! - thenativeraver, on 10/11/2007, -14/+45Your mother should have swallowed.
- disabled4diggin, on 10/11/2007, -11/+39great, now all 5 female diggers have a place of their own.
- tom6a, on 10/11/2007, -0/+28Direct link: http://www.sk-rt.com/
- lotusone, on 10/11/2007, -2/+29Or the ladies of digg could just start digging more feminine stories...
- hs112186, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22testosterone??? on digg??? i think you mean mountain dew and diet coke
- amphoterous, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Ask and you shall receive:
http://digg.com/offbeat_news/BREAKING_DIGG_OWNS_SK_RT_IN_DUEL_AMAZING_BEST_EVER - monkeymoo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17im a girl and i enjoy digg, im here all the time. although it was my boyfreind who showed it to me... i think im here more than him
- Kelgann, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19Now all we need is a story titled "BREAKING, DIGG OWNS SK*RT IN DUEL, AMAZING, BEST EVER!"
- sail191912, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16It'll take more than twinkle cake kits to get us ladies out of digg.
- jiggawoot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16The "*" in Sk*rt is obviously there to add an air of mystique to it, everyone knows the ladies love the mysterious types.
It could be skurt, or skart, or skert... Or it could be skort? I hate f*cking skorts. - Gameflyer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Down after 100 diggs? Something tells me you can't run a digg clone site with your host.
- sloo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+18Went down awful fast...OHHH SNAP
- saladtossser, on 10/11/2007, -10/+22"This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota"
Pfft... women... - canewediggit, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14@dtd00d - missing 'i' is the new missing 'e'. keep up on your web 2.0 fashion.
- ryantgrady, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Am I the only one who finds this sort of thinking offensive and narrow minded?
- indraa, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14"Now I'm sure that there are women out there who care that "Dell quietly drops extended warranty support for Ubuntu" or that "3rd Party iPhone App SDK to Launch at WWDC?", but I certainly don't know them."
Although being female, I find those a lot more interesting to me than "hip eco-friendly clothes" and "buying yellow summer shoes." Shudder. - VillaStraylight, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Word to all of the above. I come here for tech and gaming news. A geek is a geek is a geek, regardless of gender. To paraphrase, you'll never get rid of me, Digg. Ever.
And boxers are damn comfortable. - kentifer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13"Amazing Frozen Coconut Key Lime Tart Recipe"
is to Sk*rt as
"[PIC]Traffic Light propaganda"
is to Digg. - colincornaby, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13"Site's down. *perfect time for sexual innuendo*"
Ummm... That's what she said? - fef560, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12@colincornaby (#7041567) said: ""Site's down. *perfect time for sexual innuendo*"
Ummm... That's what she said?"
antispimmer pretty much covered it with "The site went down on me" - dtd00d, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Why the wildcard character in the middle of their name?!
- morriscat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8F*ck that.
- vulgate, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11sk*rt - "Vote it UP!!!"
- petsounds01, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8There are a lot of males here, but there is hardly any testosterone. C'mon, 99% of the people here cry when someone uses a browser other than Firefox.
- xstarsprinklesx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Lame. First of all, I can't even look at the site, it's already down. Second of all, if I wanted to go to some girly site I would be at iVillage. Third of all, how is it helping anyone to have to have separate magazines/sites/whatever for each gender for this kind of material? If it's all going to be makeup tips then it's not going to be a Digg rival; if it's going to have the same types of stories as Digg why should chicks require a separate site? I realize I'm a minority when I come here but it's just part of the "system", as it is when I play video games or go to sci-fi conventions.. I don't care, it's my interest so I get over it.. they don't need to make it all pink and frilly just because I'm XX and not XY.
- Ai3d, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Digg *Burps and licks fingers.* "This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota"
- EvilVin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10Up with Digg, down with Sk*rts!
- l0k1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5from the linked blog:
"Now I'm sure that there are women out there who care that "Dell quietly drops extended warranty support for Ubuntu" or that "3rd Party iPhone App SDK to Launch at WWDC?", but I certainly don't know them."
well, that'd be me. i'm that woman. very interested that dell dropped the extended warranty for ubuntu, totally thrilled that there will be an iPhone SDK (i'm a programmer). heavily into reading slashdot/digg/engadget and a total gadget freak and technofetishist. unless this "sk*rt" thing is going to be a talking about gadgets, operating systems and the latest RIAA idiocies, it interests me not at all. it sounds more like we're expected to sit around an braid each other's hair. - xstarsprinklesx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Word. I think the guys here have a very skewed view of how many geek girls there actually are, and how many there are on Digg.
- sogracefully, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4or maybe it just wishes you'd take a shower once in a while.
- xister, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I'd rather it the other way around ;)
- sogracefully, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4that was pretty much my reaction. am i no longer free to avoid discussion of shoes and makeup? how totally patronizing and awful. if it had some form of political and social content that involved women, it might actually have a chance, but a site about makeup and superficial crap is just another clone of every women's magazine out there that i'm already ignoring.
- kindrobot, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9Digg for women=the same as IRC.
25% women, 73% men pretending to be women, 2% cops trolling for pervs. (10% of which are jerking off while doing it) - Samiyam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Sk*rt up yet?
- kidd3ckz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7This giving women the right to vote is getting out of control.
