- sinfree, on 10/12/2007, -28/+10Yeah, it looks like spam. If you check out his/her profile you see quite a few links about "zamzar" stuff. Buried as spam.
- sinfree, on 10/12/2007, -44/+8Dupe comment. Yay for dupes.

I dugg you down just because I've read your other comments. And you my friend are the Christian version of anicejew. - sinfree, on 10/12/2007, -21/+2@coollettuce
My apologies. - Mtap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree. I personally use Ook? Video Ook! for all my youtube/gv/ any other site downloads. Yeah it has a weird name, but it works flawlessly and, after its done, I use the Free Riva Flv encoder to switch it over to any file I want.
- therrol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is more than helpful. wooo.
- tinapaal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Youtube videos can be easily ripped and can be converted to the available formats.

"Enter your email address to receive converted files:"- howzitgoin88, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6dodgeit.com
- redwallhp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It just emails you the link, not the actual file.

- Sautechef, on 10/12/2007, -13/+37Great, now someone can download and save a video only to repost it back onto Youtube so we end up with 10 videos of the exact same thing.
- npsken, on 10/12/2007, -11/+26That already happens...
- Sautechef, on 10/12/2007, -18/+7I know that. It was an attempt at sarcasm. I thought I would leave out the obvious bit about the fact that it already happens, except now it will be that much easier to do. Apparrently you are not capable of reading between the lines.

- uhdean, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Or try this. It is also free and does a great job. http://vixy.net/
- Jjcd7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I just use keepvid, or look at the activity in Safari.
- sepultura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ uhdean
Thanks. Works very well and it's definitely better than Zamzar. - idiggit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I use this one which works greath (videodownloader): http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php
- JDParshall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thank you, it works great!
- summitr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I don't know if this guy is spamming for zamzar, but I've used the service before and it works great. Only thing I received in my email was the converted file.
- drgirlfriend, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4http://videodl.org is also a good one. Still in beta, but requires no silly personal info.
- Stirk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for sharing, looks good!

http://blog.zamzar.com/2007/02/16/support-launched-for-youtube-video-conversion/ - riccohasdug, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I suppose you could simply give him a throwaway email address, but why go through all of that? Why doesn't it simply convert the file and give you a download link at the site (like KeepVid and all the others)?
- Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Because keepvid doesn't convert anything, only gives your the link to the hidden FLV file.
But zamzar has to upload it to their servers, then convert it which takes time. So they use the email notification as means of letting you know when the file is ready. When I tried it, it took several hours... so it's good to be able to close the page and not lose your conversion.
I prefer vixy.net
- Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Because keepvid doesn't convert anything, only gives your the link to the hidden FLV file.
- Hayes, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7You are a bunch of ***** idiots. ZamZar is not spam, this guy just copied and pasted the post from their blog found here: http://blog.zamzar.com/2007/02/16/support-launched-for-youtube-video-conversion/

- TheMachine1, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I've used http://keepvid.com/ which generates a link that can be saved as a *.flv format file. I have heard firefox can do this for you(I use Opera).
- Gryph1, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Don't know why you got dugg down, but this one seemed fast, and works with lots of formats. I needed one to do google video and this one did it just fine.
- TheMachine1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Maybe it works too good for some people.
- newdiggdude, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1I can't wait to see if it works on http://www.myfreepaysite . If that's the case, I'm going to have lots and lots and lots of converted porn.
- colinm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I can recommend using (open source) ffmpeg to convert audio and video files. The huge list of supported formats is here: http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/ffmpeg-doc.html#SEC21 There are also loads of options for tweaking the encoding settings too...
You don't have to wait and use your bandwidth uploading and downloading files and you don't have to give away your email address.
Windows binaries: http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/ffmpeg/- ropers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5(Honestly, I cannot comprehend how they would digg you down.)
Does ffmpeg support rtmp ?
Ever since watching it @ atomfilms, I've had this strong urge to download this film:
rtmp://fms2.atom.speedera.net/ondemand/fms2.atom/haha_america_700.flv
But the only app that appears to support rtmp downloading is a commercial Windows app (http://www.applian.com/replay-media-catcher/) and I'm on Ubuntu.
(I also had a hunch that red5 (http://osflash.org/red5) could somehow do this, but I couldn't get it to do what I wanted.)

http://www.getdemocracy.com/ - icedevil6, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Got enough keywords?
- Nickerz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7how the ***** does this have all those digs? The whole thread is calling this guy an asshat, yet it's gonna be frontpage on the right if this keeps going.
- gameforge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Heh, when you read that stuff about people "gaming" Digg, have you ever thought "gee, where was I when all that was going on?"
A lot of submissions would go into the thousands if they hit the front page, just because some people digg stuff on the front page for later reading, while others digg solely based on the headline, etc.
But this stuff usually doesn't go to the front page because the real Digg lovers who read and participate in raw upcoming stories bury garbage like this before it gets the chance. If too many people choose to bury it before it gets to so many diggs, it never makes the front page. To game the system, you get and/or pay a swarm of people to come in and Digg the story.
It's 8:50PM where I live. At 9:30AM tomorrow morning, this will STILL be in the "Top 10" list. It was made popular in 5 hours. It seems reasonable that the system gets "suspicious" if too many people jump right into the "Upcoming Stories" section and Digg a particular story on page 25 immediately after creating an account... but if you own a domain, you can create e-mail addresses & new Digg accounts all day - over time (5 hrs?), you can "pretend" to browse and read and post a few fake comments, Digg some stuff, "including that one on page 25 ahem" as each fake user and it won't look too suspicious. Maybe the admins will see it later and ban the accounts, but it still made the front page and got the required no. of hits to their site for their "marketing strategy".
After 10 hours, it has 1,671 Diggs, but only 60 comments.
Gamed? Who knows. Suspicious? Well, yes, very.

- handheldchimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3...it sucks, i can't convert a file from youtube to avi apparently...there is an internal problem where it doesn't agree with their servers? Wtf does that mean?
- mendigg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The author of clause has mentioned and has opened excellent and a vital topic presently. Clause is written interestingly and the main thing actual. The same theme on Russian sites: http://pivo.in.ua http://www.alcogol.kiev.ua
- fatadamblog, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1There is an easier way to watch youtube videos.
Step 1. Find the youtube url
Step 2. Input URl into http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php
Step 3. Download .flv file.
Step 4. Download a FLV player or VLC Player works well to.
enjoy your online media....offline!- grendel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2real easy...that 5 steps is certainly easier than the 1 step on vixy.
I got 6 pennies for your 1 dollar.
Cause 6 is better than 1.

- ladyarcher85, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0There aren't many youtube videos that I like. And none which I like to download.
- nonokiaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about saving Myspace music off the flash players?
- LeBlue, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Youtube or Video Hostin sites for that matter, are a waste of time.
Nufced - barnis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I personally think this is a great service and don't give a F#@$ if it's SPAM. I've used it for my wife when she was at work, received a TIF email and couldn't view it with any of the aps on her restricted work laptop as well as at various work and school computers when installing an ap (even if it's just a stand-alone eve) seems like wasted effort.
I've also sent students to this site who want to show a video in class and haven't a clue about FFMPEG, VLV, FLV player or any other "better" solution.
The reason this is on the front page is because it's useful...stop being such a bunch of greater-than-thou techie pricks...some people are different guys. - doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1spam.
get this offa the front page now. - RoflMyWaffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7this is straight crap. Vixy has been around longer and doesn't ask you for an email or anything. It's also much quicker

- diggboy101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Try media-convert.com, no personal info, faster, and it supports more formats.
- JesterFPS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is better: http://vixy.net/
- tharippa1be, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just tested both zamzar and vixy, and I'd go for vixy.
You get the converted file a lot faster and the filesize is less then half of zamzar's.
But I do have to say that the quality of the zamzar converted file is better. But then again, not that much better that the filesize should be double the size...
(conversion format used for both DivX AVI & MP3)
