- brianfischer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1CamStudio is by far the best and it is free. They got bought out by macromedia, so it is difficult to find the files, but you can get all of them at my website here:
http://www.hydrapipe.com/downloads/camstudio/ - n-g-k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can get CamStudio, including the lossless codec, open source, free here, this deserves it's own digg, I wish people would stop digging $300 software when there are BETTER and FREE Open Source alternatives!!!!!!

digg it :) - hycotuss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0camtasia is alright, but the easiest program for capturing screens out right now is captivate [ http://www.macromedia.com/software/captivate/ ]
Unfortunately I believe it's 500 bucks but there is a free trial link. Doesn't output to all those formats but it creates very small flash files good for web distribution.. - Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And only $300 for the privelege! ...No thanks. I've used Camtasia for work purposes, and it is good software, but if you're just helping your friends/family or messing around, there are cheaper solutions.
- pfdogs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This program is freakin awesome. Much better than the free one I tried recently.
