- PAStheLoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mine is using 240megs at the moment.. and I'm using AdBlock 0.5.2.056, Fasterfox, DictionarySearch, Tabbrowser Prefs.,Session Saver, Web Developer and FLST (focus last selected tab) ..
I'll try the another adblock, thanks for the advise. - PAStheLoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh, and I've forgotten to mention, that I've 16 tabs open .. but hell, 240 MB should be more than enough for FFx. Because "640K ought to be enough for anybody." :D
- Lochedahnan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Memory does creep up when Firefox is minimized but to clear memory again, restore and reminimize it.
- Han5010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks, jinexile. I'll have to update my Adblock to see if it fixes my problem because I often see Firefox memory use in the 100MB+ range, and I've only got 384MB on this thing..heheh.
- jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh and Large Memory Usage != Leak
Leaks are when memory is allocated and never released. Firefox 1.5 has patched MANY leaks over 1.0.7, if I left 1.0.x open over night the program would completely choke in the morning. I've left 1.5 open for two weeks now with no performance issues what-so-ever. - jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The reason this was disable was because if you leave the program minimized for and extended period of time the memory gets put into swap and it's EXTREMELY sluggish restoring.
Most memory issues with firefox are stemming from the old version of Adblock and if you upgrade to Adblock plus it fixes it.
My Firefox rarely goes over 80mb unless I'm on a image intensive page, as firefox doesn't store images compressed in memory. But upon leaving the page the memory is almost always released.
