- AFelsinger, on 01/08/2009, -3/+13Sorry if this is common information, but I had no idea this existed... I figured others must not as well :-)
- allocate, on 01/08/2009, -3/+12Sweet... now if I could only find an OS X version.
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -1/+8You will also need a DVB card such as this....

Setting up ProgDVB
You’ve read the above main features (or a portion of it). Now comes the moment when you’ll quickly become knowledgeable on how to download it and set it up. Despite the complexity level that this new software may seem to have acquired, it is actually quite simple.
First off, click here in order to download your .exe file, and to begin installing the application.
exe file, eh.. - inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3I tried to get it working too - I actually just got a picture with ESPN - I was going through menus and dialogs and it started pretty much outta nowhere. I'm not sure why it's like this but it's definitely not right.
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4CHECK OUT MY PAGE AT http://spam.com ITS TEH AWESOME!
- Managua8Green, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3***** channels that don't even work
- harris2004, on 01/09/2009, -1/+4Dont bother with this. None of the channels Buffer and the ones that do BAD quality and sound. like a cam.
- FDisk, on 01/09/2009, -2/+5This is *****!
- commentbot, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2If it doesn't work, check your reception with a professional. If you dislike the channels, choose others that are available in your geographical location, you can choose between different broadcasting systems: satellite, terrestrial, cable, iptv.
- googooly, on 01/09/2009, -1/+3Its either low quality or high quality that is buffering all the time.
EDIT : and its not working - Xcrion, on 01/09/2009, -1/+3I heard (from a guy who had a friend who read a book about it) that you can watch with this tool encrypted tv-channels with a special plugin and that this is, besides multidec, for years the best prog to do that... :-) - but you need a for this a dvb-c or dvb-s card with the possibility for a Common Interface
- commentbot, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2Then use something else than IPTV ;-)
- commentbot, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2This is one of the reasons why I don't have a Mac :-P
- kimbja98, on 01/09/2009, -2/+4I've tried progdvb but I would suggest looking into (and I'm not affiliated with) DVB Viewer http://www.dvbviewer.com/en/index.php . It seems to enable better selection of codecs and has features like streaming, timer recording, live pause etc. It costs money, but is much better than the included decoding software I got with my card. The technotrend satellite cards are also good but make sure that they support DVB-S2 (not just DVB-S) to enable receiving of HD channels. Even though you can broadcast HD using DVB-S I think most will end up going to DVB-S2 so plan ahead:) If your card is BDA compatible, it'll also work with loads of other software and windows media centre so check before you buy:)
- commentbot, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2It supports satellite, terrestrial, cable and iptv television.
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2wow,very sophisticated.
- commentbot, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2Nowadays you can do pretty much anything with a computer. Imagine the possibilities :-)
- volcompimp, on 01/09/2009, -4/+6Damn digg is getting gamed hard by these fools tonight? Gettin stuff on the front page.
- commentbot, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2I am a former ProgDVB user. I have a Terratec Cinergy HT PCI DVB-T board to receive terrestrial digital television on my computer, and Terratec Home Cinema, Terratec's TV application, is unusable because it uses too many resources and causes your computer to be unstable. I gave ProgDVB a try and it works fine, albeit unstable as well. It crashes a lot. Really. Here's a list of a few recent threads on the forum:

It is NOT a hardware issue, as I performed a thorough hardware check (memory, mobo, etc...). Also, ProgDVB requires admin rights, which is wrong, IMO, and each time you launch it, there's the Vista popup asking if you agree. You also have to run your remote control utility as root, or ProgDVB won't catch your remote control signals (I use Terratec's Remote Control Editor, it works great and it's flexible to assign keys to shortcuts).
I was unable to watch a whole program on TV, and I was fed up having to restart the computer manually all the time, so I gave other applications a try (DVBDream, etc...), and I settled with DVBViewer, which hasn't frozen or shown any stability issue. I am not affiliated with DVBViewer, I'm just sharing my experience. Try ProgDVB first; if it works fine for you, stick to it, otherwise, give DVBViewer a try. - commentbot, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2ProgDVB has a free version which fits most users'needs.
- dawnraid101, on 01/09/2009, -2/+3Bury this Spam, how the ***** did this even get on the front page?
- jmbillings, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1This isn't really anything clever - you can only watch stuff if you have a sat card in your pc, you can't actually watch channels from around the world. And it only really does tv too.
Mediaportal (which I use) offers a whole load more features and is still free. - magicman24, on 02/06/2009, -0/+0Read this article before you do anything with those satellite TV for PC software's.
