- msaleem, on 12/05/2007, -0/+28And a thousand online photo-editing 2.0 companies weep in unison.
- DaveMN, on 12/05/2007, -0/+16If you want to use all the Picnik tools it'll cost you another $24.95 to upgrade, even for a flickr pro account. :-(
- RuffRidr, on 12/05/2007, -0/+14But how is GIMP at online photo storage?!?! Huh? Obviously, they are different products aimed at different user segments.
- MikeonTV, on 12/05/2007, -0/+10Alot of picture news happening in the world of web 2.0
- MikeonTV, on 12/05/2007, -0/+10This is good. But I want a colorpicker and a pen! Nobodys perfect!
- TimmyGUNZ, on 12/05/2007, -0/+10I just played around with this for a bit and I'm quite impressed!
I just wish that the Pro users were able to access the "premium features" w/o paying $25 a year. - pointpointclick, on 12/05/2007, -1/+10This is great news...
- Jeffler, on 12/05/2007, -0/+6Flickrshopped.
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -0/+4huh
- PdxPhoenix, on 12/05/2007, -0/+4Awe. Kids today, they're just so...well, the right word escapes me.
Though I do agree with the sentiment...I think. - gaanagaa, on 12/05/2007, -1/+4If you are a Flickr PRO, you are an editing pro.......
- hollismb, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3More like 4.95 a year, seems about right. One function built into my Flickr account should not add up to the cost of my entire Flickr account.
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3I'll stick with photoshop. But I guess this is ok for people who don't have any software to edit photos.
- beatomatic, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Yes it is. A lot of people just want to crop a photo and remove some red-eye. Now maybe I can talk some other family members and friends into joining flickr.
- stalman, on 12/05/2007, -1/+3I love it! Great for party shots that need a quick crop, but I don't quite feel like running photoshop for. I think Picnik deserves $25 a year for such a great web app.
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2Works well for me, certain limitations, but hey its not photoshop.
- starexplorer, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2this is really really awesome - i'm a digital photo nut with my kids and just the fact that i can go back and get rid of red eye is gold... no matter what praise people pile on flickr, they are still underrated and under the radar screen
- dtrinh, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2I saw the Humanized crew tear apart Splashup (http://humanized.com/weblog/2007/12/03/user-interf ... so I'm a little curious about how Picnik stacks up.
- jkharris07, on 12/05/2007, -1/+3"And a thousand online photo-editing 2.0 companies weep in unison." - msaleem You couldn't have said it any better than that. No need for them any longer lol
- decker12, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2Yes, I found this discouraging as well. I've already forked out the cash for Photoshop (Well my company has that is), and many of the Premium effects will only take a few extra minutes in Photoshop anyway. Plus it just kind of feel like being nickle and dimed, I've already paid for Flickr yet they couldn't figure out some resource sharing agreement when they made their partnership? Bah..
- 3rumoneisa, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Then it is ok for me.
- sbassin, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1I've been using it with the Picknik plugin for a while, and it's very solid. No photoshop replacement, nor will it probably ever be, but it does a lot of things well.
- suinmind, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1If I can edit OTHER users' pictures, that'd be interesting.......
- fyngyrz, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1I want to be able to provide settings another user can use - setup some levels, saturation, etc - so many pics you could help people with, but its just not organized for that. I edit my pics before they ever hit the site, no use to just be able to fiddle with my pics.
Too bad. - Falc, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1i already paid my $25 for my premium status on picnik because of how useful i've found it. i use it a lot to do quick edits for all of my baby pictures. its much more convenient than opening every individual picture in photoshop and saving and then uploading. with picnik you can just edit and overwrite the existing copy on flickr or make a new copy. really convenient.
also, one of the things that sold me on picnik was that it was co-founded by by Mike Harrington. who happens to be one of the co-founders of another little software company called 'Valve Software'. you may have heard of them... - mikepotter, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Picnik is built using Flex. You can learn more about Flex at http://flex.org/
Adobe is working on an online version of Photoshop that has similar functionality to Picnik.
Mike
Adobe Flex Team - benplaut, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1What are the premium features? It just says "advanced photo editing tools" plus a bunch of template crap.
- Sushubh, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1the problem is that if you end an old image that is already embedded on third party sites. and if you replace that photo. the old photo links would be dead. flickr renames the images and you would have to fix those links manually.

http://search.ashtech.info/programs - RajDhillon, on 12/06/2007, -0/+0No it wouldn't, it would be lame. Just save the picture to your computer and edit it. If you wanna show it to them then send them the picture.
- ChrisTek, on 12/05/2007, -1/+1@jenny867: Assuming that was witty sarcasm, I totally understand. Apparently, no one else does.
If you were serious, however... - willno2, on 12/31/2008, -0/+0thanks very much
- Spinsterama, on 12/05/2007, -1/+0Thanks; I wouldn't have noticed this otherwise!
- elk80, on 12/05/2007, -1/+0Wow, this is really amazing! How do you suppose they do this, flash? This could really hurt Photoshop elements sales if it catches on.
- mikehill33, on 12/05/2007, -2/+1RAD.
- thinkart, on 12/05/2007, -2/+1picasa, anyone?
- RajDhillon, on 12/06/2007, -1/+0Do you not realize there is a convenient "Reply" button at the end of every post so you don't have to look like an idiot and say @Username
- spider418, on 12/05/2007, -3/+2So he mis-posted a reply. Don't bash the dude. Besides... I don't think that it's really fair for him. I mean you'd have to see his side of the story.
Whoa! Maybe this was a post from the future. Kinda like a thread in reverse. - airj1012, on 12/05/2007, -8/+2http://www.digg.com/design/Photo_Editing_On_Flickr ...
Doesn't look like Diggs new Dupe system is working all that well. Nor does it save personal settings. - directrix13, on 12/05/2007, -6/+0OMGz Photoshop is like so much b3tterz.
- nallelcm, on 12/05/2007, -9/+2I don't think that it's really fair for him. I mean you'd have to see his side of the story.
- jenny867, on 12/05/2007, -14/+2But does the ui stack up to GIMP?
I think NOT!!
