- Snarfalunch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I got to the end of the Internet once. The last guy is really hard.
- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I can't believe some of the tools on the internet these days. It took me less than an hour to get Vista off MSDN, install it, and have my setting tailored to fit my needs. Needless to say, the install was easy. There weren't any random cryptic messages or config files like in Linux. Everything was found and everything works great even on my laptop. Aero runs really fast. I almost think it's faster than XP. It's certainly faster than Gnome on Ubuntu ever was. Not only that, but Vista has millions of really cool features. If you can get past your 1337 toolness and actually use Vista you'll find that there's very little wrong with it.
- valis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Vista is simple to install. Not sure why Patrick had such a problem. Like 7of7 said, you just pop in the DVD, press a couple of buttons and enter the Key ... and bingo. Up and running. You can whine and complain all you like, but it works pretty well. And I don't care who thought up the use of buttons, transparent windows, hierarchical file browsing or anything else. Vista brings a lot of improvement to the world's most installed operating system, and that's a good thing. So what if it isn't as pretty as my Mac OSX. I'm a practical man and mostly use Windows. Vista is a welcome improvement.
- freonchill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DL.tv is just like the old days on TSS
well maybe not the TSS, but there is a similar mood to the original TSS (not the g4 version, or whatever that techno-trendy show that replaced it: AOTS)
its patrick norton and robert heron doing that they do - talk tech and joke around - tlink211, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The reason you get Vista the day it comes out is because you're probably the family geek ( you are reading Digg comments, aren't you?) and you know you're going to be called upon to make it work for everyone who know you. When they get their new Vista, from the Dells and Hps of the world, it will twist their minds up worse that XP did.
Just save your money, buy Vista the first day it hits the shelves, enjoy your new toy and amaze your family and friends. - boscorelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DLTV is great show btw
- curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The downloads usually are posted a few hours after the live IPcast or the next day in multiple formats, with the iPod Video format comes out a day after all the others!

Sorry to go off topic, but I just got curious as to what happened to Albertpacino, he hit is 800 stories to the homepage on digg, and 28 days ago he disappeared it would seem from the Internet all together, from digg, from his blog, everywhere with no traces left behind! Did he finally reach the end of the Internet?! - helfire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0finally? just download the beta if you wanta see it... + the other stories with screenshots
- shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Vista. Not gonna buy it. No reason to.
- wraithemail, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using Windows boxes for almost 20 years now. Last December I bought a PowerBook 15" top of the line model. Before I tell you how much I really enjoy this investment, let me state a few things:
1) I have been part of a couple of the Vista Install Fests since last year
2) I currently own 2 win-tel laptops, 1 amd Server 2003, 1 win-tel desktop, a G4 desktop (recent from garage sale), and my PowerBook PowerPC Laptop.
If you asked me how I found Vista about 4 months ago, with all the user account protection, aero-glass, the search box everywhere you look, with all your files indexed, and smart folders etc etc etc etc,
I would have told you "WOW, This new OS from MS rocks, and I want to make sure I help everyone install it."
Today, I would still tell people "if you buy a new computer 6 months after Vista is out, you might as well install it, or be left behind"
Every one of the features that I though were amazing in Vista, were either cut-out, or HAVE BEEN IN OSX FOR QUITE SOMETIME.
Wake up and buy a PowerPC before the Mac is a ***** windows box. - kkapoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw it. Not that good of a tour. They say they will go more in depth in a couple of weeks which indicates to me that the next beta should be out by then.
- meatshop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL !!!
bad install disc lol......
Vista is going to turn everyone into gamers because of it's system requirements. The console will soon fade away ;) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dumb comments ^^ get off my site please. K thanks.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh boy!!! Windon't Vista tour! Thanks, Patrick! Nothing like a new Microsoft product demo to put me right to sleep. I need to catch up on my rest.
- Rounin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Albert Pacino probably finally got a job.
- amigiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was a lame "tour", no sign of the new glass interface, it looked like he was making it up as he went along, plus way too much chatter, Oi Norton get to the point!
- sailor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think 1337 is the word..."fooled by MicroSoft's lame attempt at making everyone think that vista is new" might be more accurate.
All the "new" features are things linux and mac users have had for years. So plunk down your money for pretty colors and menus but little else. - spxiii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0People who believe that microsoft is the only sensible business solution are the reason for their monopoly (well, along with some questionable business practices and general FUD). I'm glad I can get my job done and still stand for something other than the almighty buck.
Can you imagine a world where M$ had no competition? They gave us a preview with IE6. Now how about we support diversity in the marketplace by pushing for standards in interoperability rather than explaining why Linux and Macs are worthless in the "real world" or why Microsoft is for "n00b loosers".
If it weren't for Linux and Mac, MS would be releasing rehashed Windows ME year after year. If it weren't for Microsoft, no one would be fed up enough to work on Linux and Mac.
That's a bit of a generalization, but the point is we need competition or capitalism is retarded. - GreenAlien, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple and Microsoft could do each other a favour here. If Vista works on an Intel-Mac then I can see myself upgrading to a MacBook Pro and Mac OS X / Vista dual boot. (otherwise I'll stick with XP on my Vaio). That is unless XP is cracked to work with EFI, or Apple see sense and sell a generic shrink wrapped OS X. Basically, whichever route leads to dual-booting XP and OS X - I'm there. Could use XP for software dev, and OS X for non-work stuff. Bliss.
- logost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0www.nathanbirckartist.com
anyone catch that - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Vista could be Win 95 all over again. I think I'm gonna wait at least 6 months before I take the plunge. That's if I do at all...
- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0""I graduate in May, and the first thing I'm going to buy is a MacBook Pro."
Obviously you didn't get much out of your education."
That's what happens when you major in basket weaving. - 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I graduate in May, and the first thing I'm going to buy is a MacBook Pro."
Obviously you didn't get much out of your education. - sulestis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lame show. Really lame "tour."
I'll probably put Vista on my gaming PC when it comes out, but I am definitely not going to pay for it.
I graduate in May, and the first thing I'm going to buy is a MacBook Pro. - cosmotic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Their pc must not be able to handle all the fun things that xp does. =(
- mattclare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been seeing both Vista and IE 7 in my Apache logs. Anyone else?
- MikhoohkiM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I could find it anything but funny to see how many times the install failed, reminds me of when I paid for a real copy of XP Pro, took me days to install it, now the hacked XP pro I downloaded that installed first try.
- popetorak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Tom_Riddle, your a ***** moron. you have to be a MSDN member
we cant have it as simple as apple, because PC can do more than 5 things - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Jesus christ, hurry up and download so I can skip past this lame introduction news crap.
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0paul thurrot (winsupersite) has more or less the only good unbiased vista reviews.
- Aleks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@i_bellone
iPod's are junk?!? - 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Care to elaborate a little bit on the irony of my post geoboy? If you think I'm calling myself 1337 for installing Vista you should probably try to install it yourself. Basically you slide the DVD in, click yes a coupld of times, type in the key, then let it sit for a few minutes and viola, it's there. It's so easy. I can't tell you the ET heart warming moment I had when I set up a standard user account and tried to install the AFS client. A little box popped up that asked for an administrator password. I know Linux and all those have had that forever, but they just aren't very good OSs for people who want to do things besides work on their OS.
- wraithemail, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and btw there is no reason not to love OSX. i have not come across one single thing that i cannot do on the mac that i can on a windows box.
- Aleks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I can't stand Robert Heroine's look everytime Robert mentions some Apple product... his thoughts/actions/mannerisms depict that Apple products are just hype.
Some instances:
- Why get an iPod when theres array of other players that has built-in radio and WMA plays for sure support?
- Mac OS X is useless due to not being able to play the latest games
- No problems with Windows due to his flawless system building skills.
I just want to punch him in the mouth - deut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why the hell would I want to upgrade my XP machine (which has done me well for over two years now) to Vista. What is the point?
This product is a dodo. If it wasn't for Dell offering it as standard on new PCs, I can't honestly see anyone else buying it.
BTW, my next computer is going to be a Intel-Mac. - OneEye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1>1/2 of these comments are useless and don't contribute to the article.
You didn't comment on the article either. I think digg is full of whiners. - geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Does anyone else see the pure irony of 7of7's comment? Just thought I'd point that out.
- Xipher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0When can I download it?
- Tom_Riddle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0okay so now I find the POS after looking for a half hour. and whenever I click download it redirects me to the MSDN subscribers home page. and yes i am logged in.

Wow, I hit people in their faces because of dorks like you.....
WTF.....grow up! - j_bellone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@aleks
Why? He is right. In order to buy anything from Apple (sans iTunes songs, but that's not from Apple) you pay a hefty MacTax for nothing other than the fact that it looks different. Well, I'll tell you what, I can build a computer that looks just as good, performs better, and runs all the latest games. He's right. The iPod's are junk, they break after minimal use for less than a year, and Apple has a releases at least two new ones each year. I would not go as far as saying OSX is useless, but to me, its useless. It does not play the latest games (I don't play WoW), and it does not have the development tools I need.
So, yes, Robert's views are in line with my views. Why should I pay more money to get something that is essentially the same thing (now more than ever) and can't run more than half of my applications (thereby needing to buy a slew of applications from Apple, or Apple vendors). - electic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Watched the first 5 mins and turned it off, looked lame.
- Tom_Riddle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0SO this is why I don't like windows.
I go to the site. and it sucks so bad I can't even find the ***** beta to download. I swear i want to know who designs their web pages and slap him.
I can't even try to give it a chance. - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0^^^^ I've noticed that CLIFFosakaJAPAN has taken his place as the most frequent news poster on digg, especially in getting to the homepage! Again sorry for being off topic, I'm just a curious george!
- MonkeyFit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Whatever did happen to Albert Pacino? Someone needs to write a blog entry on it and submit it to digg. Then we'll have a big discussion on what happened to him and maybe he'll come and visit and tell us where he's been.
- KillerX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Max OS X RIPPOFF done poorly...

- MrsApril, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0You kids should learn how to post intelligent comments. 1/2 of these comments are useless and don't contribute to the article. Digg is full of kids.
- NotoriousPot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Patrick Norton is such a tool. I never understood why they kept him around. Dork Load TV.
