- humanchimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25"The Origami device is approximately 7 ½ inches x 3 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches thick and uses:
• Extensive multimedia features in Windows XP Embedded to support its customized video record and snapshot application and to provide video-conferencing capabilities
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 to provide the latest Web browsing capabilities including playback support for Flash and Shockwave files
• Outlook® Express for e-mail "
"At first glance, the device looks like a small camera and camcorder until you open it to reveal a brilliant 4-inch, 640 x 480 display that looks more like a terminal. "That's why we call the device Origami; it changes shape depending on what function you're using," Matson notes. "You twist it one way to use it as a personal access device, another way to write an e-mail, and other way to use it as a camera." A patent-pending hinge on the unit allows users to bend the device into different shapes."

- rebz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15what mean you? english in these headline are an perfect example of the english
- theLingoKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I think It has something to do with an application that microsoft is going to launch that is like a vector animation package, with the powerpoint audience in mind as its target market. It will be scalable accross the gamit of devices like flash. so it could be used on cell phones, pdas all that. It makes sense to me when you think about the word oragami and how it could be associated with the scalability of manipulation of the medium, in this case the providing of digital content that is scalable and can be anything you want it to be, is lap top, cell phone, pda?????
Whadda ya think? - teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7how the heck to you just "happen" to come across something like that?
- piper999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3humanchimp's information is more than 4 years out of date...

http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/assistance/HP011765331033.aspx - WolfBoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If this is what I remember hearing about then it could be a cell phone, PDA, camera, and laptop in one.
Digg++, because it could be cool. - stephdau, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Wh wants to bet it's a MySpace contender?
- regeya, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5'My grammer sucks'
So does your spelling. - Quactaur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks very interesting, "do you know what i can do? how i can change your life?" it had better not be some silly web2.0 collaboration thing; i'm expecting life-changing results...
Perhaps microsoft are going to unveil the operating system they've *really* spent the last few years on? - tarak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Would it be that their Windows Live project goes out of beta?
- flump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"learn more on 3.2.06" that was ages ago!
- jwade1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wish people would post useful comments rather than bitching about a simple grammatical error. It is not as though he said “OMG OMG, Micro$of7 is maxoring the mystery syte, lol lol lol!!!1!!1oneone”
Nice addition humanchimp

- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seems to be hinting at yet another social network project. In other words, the Flash animation is probably cooler than the project itself.
- miketrin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have a hunch it's a new version of Microsoft Bob.
What's with the freaking grammar on this site. Last time I checked DIGG wasn't a division of MySpace.com. - mmcquade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree with the portable media device... can't wait to see it unveiled, whatever it is.
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"what mean you? english in these headline are an perfect example of the english"
Classic.
I bet you the Apple nerds are flocking here to see if there is something they can scoff at from their mighty thrones at the top of the technological empire. Or not. - bendak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1maybe microsofts mp3 player to compete with the iPod?

nah, probably that thing. +digg - DarthHangover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Found this, too. Looks like a web design company that developed (unknown at what point though) a web image for the NSC Origami. Of interest, to me anyway, is that the color of the device on their site is orange and reminds me of one of the pictures in the origamiproject.com flash animation of what looks to be a camera lens....

- System84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are all digg members the grammar police now? Good grief...
Anyway, interesting website. We will have to wait and see what its all about. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@KCasier -
Since I was the one who first accused you of being a shill, let me apologize publicly. I'm very impressed by the introduction you gave. In fact, I'm impressed by your project.
My comment about the Origami link itself should have been limited to the fact that I can't stand teaser sites that try to be "viral." I think automatically doubting your motives was uncalled for.
So, to sum up - Origami teaser = still lame. KCasier = way cool. - piper999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>> "learn more on 3.2.06" that was ages ago!
Are you from the future? Or just the UK? - pinsomniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought the (Nat. Semi) Origami was dead in the water?
- KCasier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Introducing Me:
KCasier Or Koen Casier from Belgium so that explains my bad English Grammer.
Am unemployed working on an personal project that takes an big load of RSS feeds and sorts them to my personal preferences using the same type algorithm that most people use to sort out Junk Mail out (bysentain algorithm) (it also autogenerates search queryies and performs other funky stuff on it quite nice if slow) so that I came upon an post I learned about it was from kOnTheRun (http://jkontherun.blogs.com/jkontherun/2006/02/what_is_this_we.html) and I wanted to share it whit everybody. - makso9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
I think it has to do with Aero Glass and how a 3D OS is going to be the next big thing. Note the same graphics from the release of all the screen shots of Vista from pcmag.com. Anyway I don't believe we will find out what it is until the 3 week deadline see this article next Thursday! - goatrandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0felchdonkey - Actually after a little research, I believe that he is not a MS 'Shill'. I think he is the same K . Casier who works for the IBCN. This is of course based on little other than googling, and his comments history, but he is smart, and the first google result for that name leads to a paper co-authored by someone named KCasier about fiber networking.
Grammer Nazis - If it is the dude I think it is, than english is not his native language, so cut him some slack, Jerks. Otherwise he is not the dude I think he is, so cut him some slack, Jerks. :) - sulestis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty cool, regardless of how lame it might turn out to be
- smash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's probably the new Frontpage replacement. (folding pages... webpages.... etc.)

National Semiconductor Conceptual Products Group
http://members.microsoft.com/CustomerEvidence/Common/FileOpen.aspx?FileName=8998_National_Semiconductor_Conceptual_P.doc
"We wanted to have all the rich features of Windows XP for the desktop but in a small footprint. Windows XP Embedded enables us to build our device image in a small footprint and gives us all of the features we need to support our design."
Typically when Matson's group develops a reference design, it starts out with a long list of items and ends up having to cut some of them because they run out of time. For the Origami project, that isn't the case. "This year we hit virtually everything, largely because of the developer-friendly features included in Windows XP Embedded and the Visual Studio® development system," Matson says. "We can run Win32®-based applications out of the box. Also, because we can use Windows XP–based drivers for both Windows XP and Windows XP Embedded, we only have to create one set of drivers for both operating systems," Matson says. - JakeMcMahon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would anyone like the .fla file?
http://rapidshare.de/files/13988196/origamiproject.fla.html - ahoier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well, origami is a form of art....so maybe it's an upgrade for Microsoft Paint?
Or a video game. - h0lyHandGrenade, on 02/20/2008, -0/+0Seriously... this is my prophetic belief. It is a new touch screen technology that Microsoft is developing secretly for a portable device maybe?
