- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Firefox should have an undo close tab feature by default. Opera has Ctrl-Z for that.
- mendicant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Still a really good review. By far the most unbiased one that I've read. While it's obvious that the author prefers FireFox, he really did his best to be objective and provided a really good review.
- willlangford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thanks! I will agree that I do love Firefox but Opera now has a special place in my heart. I am still using it on and off trying to find solutions to problems I have with Firefox.
- lefthandedlinux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3spyware? must be a MS-Windows thing not necessarily a Opera or Firefox thing, don't expect a browser to patch a vulnerability that is actually a flaw in the operating system...
- mendicant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Comparing installer size is kind of like comparing apples and oranges in this case too. First off because you can get an opera installer (US English only) that's only 4MB.
But beyond that, once you find and download all the extensions from firefox that make it so indespensible you are looking at a much larger amount than it's 4.9MB size.
Basically, if you're going to make that comparison it seems like you need to make the point that 4.9MB doesn't give you advanced tab controls, greasemonkey, mouse gestures, mail addon, irc, and whatever else that comes packed into that 6.17MB install file. - mendicant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I never get any spy/adware with opera, and I've been using it for years.
My only problem is that the new bury story button doesn't play well with opera 9. - bazuden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cool! I've been looking for undo tab close on Opera since I installed it a couple of weeks ago. I like it, but there doesn't seem to be a 'Back to Top' button. The Back to Top extension for Firefox has increased my procrastination exponentially.
- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No, but I use Linux, it might be OS dependent
- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2To be honest, I don't care a whole lot about install size. I guess it makes a difference if you're still on dial-up, but for me, it's maybe an extra 5 seconds to download the international install versus the english installer, which is less than what I saved by not navigating through the site to get the "correct" installer.
I've always found it impressive that Opera packs all its features into the small installer. 4mb for all its power (except for voice control) is really good. - suribe, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1thanks for the review, greats tips :-)
- lefthandedlinux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1get the tab mix plus extension
- thedonquixote, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I tend to get alot of spyware/adware with opera. Does anyone else have the same problem?
