- RamezaniK, on 12/13/2007, -7/+51I'm sitting across the table from the dude who made the site... he says he loves you all.
- fkr3, on 12/13/2007, -5/+35Ask him how long he thinks it'll be before they C&D his dumb ass for at the least, trademark infringement.
- spyd3rweb, on 12/13/2007, -3/+30OPENCthulhu Watch the most evil content, no registration.
- Bostocks, on 12/13/2007, -1/+27As an interesting side note if you are Canadian Hulu doesn't work. Amazon Unbox also doesn't work here, and itunes no longer has any NBC shows. But don't steal the shows from Bittorrent, okay?
- GredMcAlen, on 12/13/2007, -1/+21not available in my country :(
- ostracize, on 12/13/2007, -2/+18Available to Americans only (GRRR!!!)
- JudgeMonkey, on 12/13/2007, -0/+13I don't see the problem. I haven't read the EULA but hulu lets people embed the videos on their sites. That's all he did, no?
- pixelat3d, on 12/13/2007, -0/+11Eh, i'm in the Hulu Beta and the embeds are significantly lower quality that those on the site, cool idea ... but not really a great alternative.
- chris9902, on 12/13/2007, -3/+12next week you'll be sitting on the other side of the protective glass passing him cigarettes to trade.
- mklopez, on 12/13/2007, -1/+8Found via http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/12/11/openhulu-r ...
- Bobpaulson, on 12/13/2007, -0/+6Here's how to do full screen. It's a really easy solution, This should definitely be added to the site.
Just view the source (ctrl+u in firefox), and look for the word param (use ctrl+f to find the word). Then inside one of tags you'll see src="some link here" Copy that link and paste it into your address bar.
So it'll look something like this:
Just copy http://www.hulu.com/embed/QSAAWyvj-QFRTQXxDIcI1VQ7 ... in this case and put it in your address bar. This should work for all movies, flash games, etc. So it's a really good trick to know. - webweb, on 12/13/2007, -1/+6For those of you that have no idea what Hulu is (ie. me), Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulu ) has a good summary:
The service offers full-length episodes of NBC and FOX television programs, including shows from the Bravo, Fuel TV, FX, Sci Fi, Style, Sundance, and Oxygen channels. Hulu also offers selected movies while also accepting user-submitted videos in direct competition with YouTube. - brenoink, on 12/13/2007, -0/+5I imagine Hulu has some kind of tracking code for embedded players. Will not end well.
- Rekzai, on 12/13/2007, -3/+8Unfortunately this video is not currently available in your country or region, We apologize for the inconvenience.
Buried - roger6106, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3The embeds also do not have a fullscreen mode. The real Hulu site does.
- ma11man, on 12/13/2007, -1/+4Haha, CNET mentioned openHULU http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-11455_7-9833049-10.ht ... (move the cursor under the "i" of "weird" to hear it)
- CannibalTom, on 12/13/2007, -3/+6Bull crap, not available in my country? Buried.
- inactive, on 12/13/2007, -1/+4Get a job...
- MWeather, on 12/13/2007, -1/+4Spoken like someone who has never tried playing a video via a proxy.
- djbon2112, on 12/13/2007, -0/+3One step forward, two back.
- relaxiknwarchie, on 12/13/2007, -1/+4good to see the good ol Canadian's get the shaft again.... if you are going to steal the Hulu format at least make it region free.
Oh yeah, we JUST got itunes TV this week. yay...... - HesNikke, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2BUG REPORT: the bury button changes into a favorite button. if you digg and then click where favorite SHOULD be, it'll bury it if you're faster than digg.
i dugg and then buried this article because digg was slower than me X_X - guinnessstout, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2Hopefully a plugin will be added to XMBC soon!
- Phusion, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2This is pretty sweet, but I'd imagine that it won't last very long. It's a shame I didn't know about this on Saturday, when I was still awake (blame hoffman) at 6am and needed something to watch while the room stopped swirling.
- inactive, on 12/13/2007, -1/+3Grrrrr indeed :(
- Vinvin, on 12/13/2007, -1/+3I got the !@#$%^&*() invite, but nooooooooooo, I'm not in the US, I can't see it...
- Nico_, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2I have watched a lot of science shows and it works fine. But it is a pain. So get the torrent and steal the shows instead, if you don't have the patience. Its not like you cant get family guy or the office from a torrent.
I do buy, gasp!, TV shows also. They are pretty cheap here. I have all the seasons of The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood and Carnivale on disc. Of course I stream them from my hdd but the boxes do look nice in my movie collection. - Ralphy, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2Um.... Full Screen?
- hamlid, on 12/13/2007, -2/+3this sucks.. it also doesn't give access to the streams for countries outside US
- honkybong, on 12/15/2007, -1/+2Ask the guy, why the videos are not viewable in my country!
- smokinguns, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1any walk arounds for this ?
- antdude, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1Hulu has fullscreen.
- kambiz, on 12/13/2007, -4/+5I'm sitting across the table from the dude lawyer that will be suing the guy that made this site. He says he loves you all for digging this site and letting more people know about it!
- jiub, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1I've been at a loss since tv links went down but had pretty good luck with 56.com. I believe it's Chinese (not positive though) which makes navigation a bit difficult but the search works surprisingly well. Just have to deal with subtitles which I don't mind.
- stiggynet, on 12/13/2007, -1/+2a fellow powncer pointed out .... you can embed the code right into your website AND hulu is paying the bandwidth:
- stiggynet, on 12/13/2007, -2/+3a fellow powncer pointed out ....the embed codes are coming straight from HULU, so they're paying for the bandwidth..... AND you can embed the code right into your own website

http://pownce.com/castig/notes/1082059/ - blackbrutha, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1kick ass. NBC ***** U
- Bostocks, on 12/13/2007, -1/+2You could always download from the American store.. they just added Corner Gas, Rick Mercer and the other Canadian show.
- gprime, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Why not just get an invite? Once you sign up for an invite, it'll take a couple of days at most, and then you'll have the option to do things like watch the episode in full screen.
- 2oonhed, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1Hey, what with the writers strike going on & my favorite sitcoms in reruns I am currently looking for more content on the web than ever before. This is especially good for catching up on missed episodes & looking at series I previously dismissed. I just caught episode S3-E11 of My Name Is Earl that missed.
Thanks Digg!
And thanks OPENhulu! - EmoOnParade, on 12/13/2007, -1/+2theres still no "full screen" option when viewing
- Chris24, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1It's sad that Canada doesn't get any of these things available. That's ok though, we've all found our workarounds :)
- Atomic1fire, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Well maybe if the canadians nag ge and nc enough they might give the Hosers what they want
- sh3l1, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1This is completely legal, the site allows you to embed videos, they wouldn't let you do it if they didn't want you to post it.
http://comicalcomics.com/huluscreenshot.JPG - NightDragon, on 01/01/2008, -0/+1Dear hulu:
Sounds like an interesting offer, but as you wont let me into your little club, i will continue to download shows illegally and you will continue not to make money off me through advertisements.
Hulu's money-making scheme
1. Limit potential earnings through invites and private betas (oh so gmail-esque)
2. ???
3. Profit! - ma11man, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Exactly. They don't want to sue me, they love me =)
....I think. - dajernts, on 03/01/2008, -0/+1Because the rights have not been established yet. It'll come, be patient.
- faz9, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Nothing gets past you powncers.
"Since Hulu lets registered users embed videos on their own web sites, why not grab all the embeddable content from Hulu and post it on an open site?" - mrchristian, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I found a way to get around the region restrictions that works pretty well. I am in Ireland using a mac too boot and it works pretty well. I wrote a mini "how-to" for anyone else to help out:
