Using: Ubuntu 6.06 - jdkelley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This tool would be for those interested in more than just their normal IP address.
- kawai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Vista = NT 6.0
- Lorian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Wait, there are ads?
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Well, than use the other thousand websites that do that, as jdkelly said this is obviously for those who don't want just the basic info.
- corsar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5this guy spammed his site all the way to the front page like this:
http://www.dnforum.com/thread176100.html
This is lame, unethical, annoying. - kabo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://showmyip.com/ shows a lot more information (where you are, currency of that country, see the IP-range of the organization your'e connected thru etc.)
- siliconglen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I use this site
http://projectip.com/
It has significantly more info than the URL above and it's also free. - goggleBOX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Paid spammer. What an idiot.
- lakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Big Wow".
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4no useless information? score!
- d0gg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Didn't know about this kind of tool, useful imho.

its all wrong :) - rick2k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4no digg... that site is terrible!
- Alex.w, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very pretty 'n' all.. but it gets my address wrong.
You've got to look for the $ENV{HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR} parameter... - inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn! Now *that* is a cool site (even if it is bogged down with a lot of advertising.)
- skunkman62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3this is the best ip tool ever!!!!!11!!eleventy
now where is my money
http://www.dnforum.com/thread176100.html - inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmm... not as impressive as it was made out to sound in the summary and, on top of that, it got a couple of bits of info wrong.
I'm not generally one of those types that comes in to gripe about whether a story is Digg-worthy or not, but what is it about this "Mother of all IP tools" that's supposed to impress me? - MAdaXe42, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Why not just make a php file with
< ? phpinfo(); ? >
Gives you all the same information. - dmh11686, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Operating System: Linux
Smart Move!!! - skunkman62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2very cool
- AlmostEvil, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I like having a bit of fun since it gets the strings from the browser:
User Agent: This site sucks (Cheesy Poofs OS 1.0RC1)
Operating System: (version unknown)
Browser: This Site Sucks - Lorian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1szelij: Same here, it then proceeded to say it wasn't a proxy :
Great. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It appears to be fixed. It now reads:
"Operating System: Linux
Smart Move!!!"
/Ubuntu 6.06 - starmanjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1missed me too. got user agent. got OS wrong.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No host name?
- MAdaXe42, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3176% here!
- szelij, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It's not very good...it reported my proxy instead of my IP.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1b1) Gecko/20060601 BonEcho/2.0b1 (Ubuntu-edgy)
Operating System: Windows NT
So I'm running Firefox 2.0 for Linux, but on Windows NT? kthxbye
/ubuntu user - pippin1980, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yeah right:
User Agent:Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5) Gecko/20060731 Ubuntu/dapper-security Firefox/1.5.0.5
Operating System: Windows NT
I didn't change to linux to see this! - BigStar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those of you who want to get straight to the point and display your external IP address then this is for you, save the following to a file and upload it to your web host (php)
http://www.trvx.net/ip.txt
or you can use the one I setup at http://www.trvx.net/iplookup - thesimo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2it does nothing new, this is just echoing out all the basic variables the other scripts do
- DD32, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4To the submitter(and co-incidentally; the website owner ):
What sets you apart from all the others out there?
Your page has NO useless information for people other than the IP, People allready know 99.9995% of whats displayed.
Also consider making everythign 150% larger.
i dont suggest advertising your new site like this either.. esp. when its boring like the rest of them.
$digg--; - AlmostEvil, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Sorry, but this is not "The mother of all IP tools OMGROFLCOPTER!!!!11111".
This can be done in a couple of minutes coding in PHP, ASP etc. Hell, I created something pretty much identical a while back as a test page.
Mother of all IP tools is stuff like nmap, ethereal (now called wireshark) and sam spade. - viciousvex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sorry... This site is not worth mentioning. The info is lame, not very impressive, inaccurate.. It's a shame I only could bury it once.. ;)
Might be that some script kiddy needs infos like these...
Look here for interesting infos about IPs: www.dnsstuff.com www.ripe.net
Use tools like dig, nslookup, etc. Much more useful.
Just my 2 cents. - Malcx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Hmmm I wonder why you said that
oh look it's cause you were paid too!
http://www.dnforum.com/thread176100.html
Lame, any fool with basic knowledge could put this together or at least find one of the other hundreds available (without ads)...
-- - Lorian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Good maybe, but...
Browser (User-Agent) Brand: Netscape Navigator
I use Firefox damnit! - lonewalker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2> Why not just make a php file with
> < ? phpinfo(); ? >
Not every one has PHP installed on their machine - DD32, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Bugger!
Talk about editing things to make it clearer back firing!!
"Your page has NO useful information for people other than the IP, People allready know 99.9995% of whats displayed." - goggleBOX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Bury for spammer... also showmyip.com ismuch better.
- ricky1146, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1www.showip.be Not mine but a friends
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Cool, I like the part where they didn't claim it to be something new but rather a useful IP tool opposed to others.
- jdkelley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0szelij - see if it works now. I have been testing with my proxy but it isnt a true proxy so I have not been able to test it fully.
- Serigei, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You guys are doing it wrong.
" User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060901 Firefox/1.5.0.6
Operating System: Linux

Gentoo GNU/Linux - toomuchgreentea, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Shouldn't you people be spoofing with plausible configurations, rather than something any idoit can spot as a fake? If you really want to spoof headers, put in something that don't stand out in a crowd.
- gross, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Digg parent up, bury this article. Anybody who does web development would know how to get this information from the client browser. Nothing special.
But the real reason to bury this article is that it's a shameless plug; jdkelley (who submitted this site here) actually codes the site, and makes comments here like "Sweet" and "Heh"?!?
Plus the title is horribly wrong. - digger68, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i like www.ip-adress.com . they display the location of the isp
- Meshyf, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2How was this man dugg down? You diggers are from the internets and you know that he is correct.
