- Barackalypse, on 10/23/2009, -1/+61Dugg for making setting up new computers less work.
- Yatti420, on 10/22/2009, -1/+23Use to be Volery.. New released today under the name Ninite...
- MrBrotato, on 10/22/2009, -2/+21This is pretty cool. I like to format my PC about once a year or so and this makes reinstalling most of my software nice and easy. I was using it a while ago when it was in beta, no issues with it at all.
- daveerickson, on 10/23/2009, -0/+16Wow, I am actually impressed with a tool like this. Package management where you check a box and apply is something I love very much about Ubuntu, and other linux distributions have similar package management. It is probably not feasible to integrate such a feature into windows by Microsoft, so a 3rd party option is excellent.
- innonano, on 10/23/2009, -0/+12Great Idea!
- Sirlolalot, on 10/23/2009, -0/+11Perfect timing, after reformatting to win7 yesterday :)
- TnTBass, on 10/23/2009, -1/+11Cool, but is there a setting where we can differentiate between 64bit and 32bit apps?
7zip for example as a 64bit version, yet the site just has a checkmark for 7zip. - ziffel, on 10/23/2009, -0/+8good point. itunes also has a 64-bit installer, as do several others.
- crappish, on 10/23/2009, -2/+9As long as it's not deleting my data when guest logs in, I'm fine with that.
- vperez, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7Apparently no one at Apple uses 'em.
- fjaguero, on 10/22/2009, -0/+6I love it! :D
- ENkOde, on 10/22/2009, -0/+5works like a charm.
- Camaroman, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6Kinda like google pack but much more software. I format a lot of computers so this should come in handy.
- palehorse864, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4I'll use this once Microsoft fixes the Digital River Unboxing Error (Unspecified error) or provides an alternative solution.
- sleeplesson, on 10/23/2009, -2/+6As a friend of mine said about Windows 7.
"well, if it's not fellating me out of the box, then there is room for improvement." - KMartSheriff, on 10/23/2009, -1/+5It looks pretty awesome. Almost too good to be true. I feel like there's some catch involved somewhere.
- Clodhopper, on 10/23/2009, -4/+8cool story bro. maybe you can go share it with the 3 other people who use linux.
- badtzmartin, on 10/24/2009, -0/+4I just wish it would create an offline installer bundle, so that you could create the installer for use on an offline machine...
- SirCosper, on 10/24/2009, -1/+5Like a wimpy version of the ubuntu repository :O
- vperez, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3My first thought is "Why would I trust these people to install programs on my machine?". It seems pretty useful if legit though.
- 1awesomeguy, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3I'm all for it, but this would not be in the interest of software developers who charge for their software. The easier it is for people to notice similar and sometimes better open source versions, the less sales they would make. Microsoft is one of these big software developers...and it's their operating system...
- RodgerE1, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Very Nice!!
- quantumstatejim, on 10/24/2009, -0/+3Woah this is not true. Now just one other remaining Linux user to find and I'll have met all 3 in my clique. Slightly more on topic I install my programs using a pretty similar application, though i call it a package manager and it has a few more programs built into it.
- areber04, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3There's no option to choose what drive to install the files on... that's kind of disappointing. I use 1 drive for the OS, and 1 drive for other programs. Unfortunately, when I change the registry key for the program files default directory a lot of things stop working properly.
- Selkies, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2It makes me want to install windows again to try it....
I hope they'll add Media Player Classic Home Cinema in the next version (yes I suggested the app in the form below). - Yatti420, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Don't Forget Filehippo.com and their updater tool..
- Drizzit, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2I got this error because it was sitting on my NAS, I copied it back over to C:\win7\ and ran it and it worked fine.
- at465, on 11/01/2009, -0/+2weirdly the iTunes 64-bit installer is just the installer, the one I installed on my Windows 7 64 bit is running in 32 bit mode.
Why would I want to use the 64 bit installer if it doesn't bother to install a 64 bit version? :) - cyclefiend2000, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2wish i had known about this when i bought a computer a couple of months ago!
- Kajaah117, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2It's a Window based installer, so why would you need to install IE? And even if Windows didn't pre-install IE... why would you need to install IE?
- AtHack, on 10/23/2009, -3/+5It's lightweight, fast, easy to use and free. What more could we want! :) ( - No, don't reply to that "statement")
- 5urr3al5am, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2how can you guarantee that this program doesn't install a virus, trojan, or worm?
- ultrafez, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2That's the idea.
- Fmunkey, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2It took me seven hours to download this, (128kbps, I'm so poor) and then i got the error. I'm gonna call today and see what they can do.
- limdpick, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2But Steam is on the list.
- wizardfingers, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Very useful!
- Alaerus, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Dugg. I've been doing a great deal of new computer setups with the holidays coming up. Some of my peers don't install baseline software for home users, but I like to give them a system that is ready to go. This is a tool that will save me some time. Probably would not use it for myself, but definitely a way to load a machine with some great software and not eat all my free time. Many thanks to the good folks at Ninite!
- geoken, on 10/23/2009, -1/+2Can anyone vouch for the crapware blocking? Has anyone used this app and seen any additional toolbars or anything?
- ldavid, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1I'm suprised with the software that they offer to bundle in- pretty decent list. Pretty much contains all my essential apps that I use. Wil definitely use in the future.
- lepoglava20, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1this is great, but i would like to see more software added.
- yifanlu94, on 10/24/2009, -2/+3You know you're a nerd when you have 99% of these apps already installed.
- Kajaah117, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1Really, really cool. Closest thing to a Windows version of the Linux package managers I've seen.
But one question: Are the installations mandatory? Can I just have it download all the setup executables and install them all myself later? - ErikWestrup, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1Best! I've submitted all apps that make my standard windows installation. Not that I like to use Windows but from time to time you have to set up a Windows system.
- rock99rock, on 10/23/2009, -1/+2This is probably one of the best applications of all time. Once a 32/64 bit option is available, it'll be solid. Accepting suggestions is a no brainer, but very nice to see none--the-less. It just makes so much sense, thank you for this app!
- Langford, on 10/27/2009, -1/+2Someone really should come up with a full package system to sit on top of Windows, it's something every modern OS should have before it calls it's self modern. Something that would handle scheduled updates, installs, and could have configurable source lists. Maybe large download places like file-hippo and sourceforge would host repositories for it.
- Agret, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Mind you, fellatio isn't the best thing it could be doing out of the box. I certainly wouldn't parade about something known to contract thousands of viruses giving me head.
- Langford, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1That looks pretty darn nice, though I can think of a few alternatives to a couple of software items I'd rather see listed.
- Crimsoneer, on 10/23/2009, -1/+2Awesomess
- ultrafez, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1That would either need some serious file-crunching on their server or some file-crunching on your PC. However, I assume it just downloads the installers and executes them with some predefined settings, so I wonder if they could download them but *not* execute them?
