- Coultrain, on 12/25/2008, -7/+53They need to get the live streaming compatible with Mac's!!!!
- airwalkery2k, on 10/01/2008, -2/+35And Firefox.
- Ricochetbiscuit, on 10/01/2008, -0/+29FTA - And Mac owners should rejoice that on the official Netflix blog this morning, "Brent" reported the following:
"And, for all of you Mac users (of which I am one) we’ve been busy working getting a solution that will allow you to watch instantly on your Mac. So hang in there - we’ll have something for you by the end of the year." - encrypteduser, on 10/02/2008, -1/+27What about Firefox support?
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -2/+25Finally, they're really starting to beef up their "watch instantly" collection. I mean, it's not that it was terrible before, it's just there really wasn't much in there that was really worth it.
- ohnoerino, on 10/01/2008, -0/+15For real!
- MScrip, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12I've been a Netflix customer for years... but never really looked at the Watch Instantly selection. So I looked today... and there is tons of stuff I'd actually like to watch! From CSI and The Office, to old catalog movies, this is great! I'm actually considering getting a Roku box.
- edicius, on 10/02/2008, -1/+11Can't wait for it to come to the Xbox later this year.
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+8actually today they have added a lot of pretty good some even really good movie from starz
i'm going to be tempted to be up all night ! - demonstealer, on 10/02/2008, -1/+8What about PS3 support?
- Ismation, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6We have the Roku box and have been streaming to our TV for months and we love it. It's not just movies, either. TV shows, (Heros, The Office, Law & Order, etc) kids shows, documentaries, indie flicks - some things I wouldn't waste a DVD rental on, but it's easy to try new things when you are able to view so much instantly. They even have workout videos that I can do for a few days and move on so I don't get bored.
We can stream one show onto the living room TV while someone watches a different show online. We got rid of cable completely. - inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6unfortunately a lot of the movies they add are not very good at all
i can't wait till all media is live streaming - cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+5And the Sega Genesis.
- badassninja, on 10/02/2008, -1/+6Call me when they support Linux and Firefox. Or for you windows guys, at lest FireFox. Get with it netflixs.
- jfg84, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5The Starz movies that were added today is only half of what is coming. I have a feeling Instant Watch is going to have a very deep catalog within a year.
- wastern, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5Excellent news. If they would've had Mac support a couple months ago maybe I wouldn't have let my subscription run out
They may be able to win me back if they do things right with the Mac support. I'll give them and extra 20 points if they can work something out with Apple to get Netflix streaming on the AppleTV - leland1, on 10/02/2008, -1/+4Platf ? Platf ?? What is Platf ?? I must know! :-)
- belebih, on 10/02/2008, -0/+3They first need to make it so I can see the movies online here in Puerto Rico. It's just ridiculous that they're able to send me the movies just fine in the mail through USPS but I can't watch them online cause it says I'm out of the US.
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -1/+4And the original Xbox.
- jjabe, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2We are very happy with our Roku box and the watch instantly content. We really enjoy foreign films and there's a lot of good TV content (e.g. Weeds and Dexter from Showtime). I'm glad to see more content coming though. The Roku is only $100 and it's tiny. I would recommend it over the Xbox unless you want the other Xbox features.
- TheXeno, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2I'll add to that, love PlayOn. Makes the Netflix deal with Microsoft a little less...pungent. With all these streaming capabilities, Netflix, Hulu, youtube, plus blu-ray, plus Sony's PSN video service, I must say, the PS3 has a very solid hold on the media end.
- BrokenVisage, on 10/02/2008, -1/+3Once you go Platf, you never go back.
- Otto, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2If they could get it to stream to my TivoHD, I'd sign up for Netflix in a heartbeat.
But streaming to my computer is lame. I already have devices connected to my TV, get it to stream through those. - trloatis, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2They actually have an RSS feed of new offerings to 'watch instantly'. Good way to keep up with what gets added.
- sombreroman, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2Netflix's Watch Now on my Windows Media Center (via the vmcNetFlix plugin) is the greatest thing to happen to my television/movie watching since cable. I noticed the new stuff yesterday--including this season's Heroes--and it's awesome. Even my most mac-aholic friends have thought about switching back when they play around with it.
- muleskinner, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2They have added some really fabulous movies as of late. You've just got to keep an eye out for them.
The best I've seen on their live streaming was an Ang Lee movie that I watched just a few days ago called Lust,Caution. - koreaski, on 10/02/2008, -1/+3the Roku is great. got that thing and that was it. no more blockbuster online. way too expensive and they are *****.
- Tooch07, on 10/02/2008, -0/+2I would love to get the Roku viewer, but as I understand it, you can't just browse the Watch Instantly area, you have to add them to your queue first. I'd rather just pick something at random and watch than specifically add it to my queue. Is there a possibility of a browsing capability being added in the future to the Roku viewer?
- leland1, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1According to the xbox.com's New Xbox Experience page, Xbox Live Gold Members with Netflix Unlimited subscriptions will be able to instantly stream 10,000 feature films and television shows for free (only in US):
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/nxe/
The page does not mention if this is possible for the Silver Level membership, or if they will have to upgrade to the Gold Level. - Rahzel525, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I'm a little confused, The article seems to indicate if you have an XBL Gold account you get this Netflix streaming for free? Or do you pay a monthly fee for it?
- tbredofsin, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I just noticed the Starz additions today. My wife and I enjoyed a rousing viewing of "Aliens". Great stuff!
- TheDarkLordXenu, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I think you have to have a gold subscription + a netflix subscription. There will be no EXTRA charge for watching through your Xbox.
They seriously have beefed up their Instant selection. Last I checked it was pretty pitiful, but I just got done adding 20 or so movies to my instant queue. "Great success!" - weneedsound, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1I have a silver xbox account and netflix membership. Why do I have to pay more to watch a netflix instant movie that I can already watch for free on my laptop. The only benefit is being able to stream netflix to my TV which I can do with a DVI and audio cable. I guess this is great for someone who already pays for both.. but otherwise there is no incentive.
I feel like they are trying to double charged for the netflix server I already pay for while adding almost no value. It almost makes me want to cancel netflix and sign up for blockbuster. - zdiggler, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I just checked! wow a lot of good newer movies just added today!!
Roku box is extremely good deal. Platform problem solved. - zdiggler, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Roku
Works Great. - mjm65, on 10/02/2008, -1/+2Netflix already commented that they believe physical distribution will peak in 5 years. These new movies are only a small step forwards in their plan to have the majority of movies available online.

The only complaint i still have about the Watch Instantly is it is not compatible with firefox. - Rahzel525, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Sounds good, I use to have a Netflix subscription a while back before all this was announced, maybe I will get an Unlimited subscription again if there is good stuff available for streaming.
- Wisgary, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Oh dear GAWD, Starz! All these movies, streaming???? *cries*
- copypastry, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Good, I was tired of streaming video using only one platf.
- 2Bnor2B, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I loved the older British shows but they are getting to expensive for PBS to air and BBC America is too busy with newer projects. Netflix streaming gives me instant access to a lot these older shows. As people have mentioned before, the instant selection is growing daily. I canceled my cable months ago and don't miss it a bit.
The cable companies forever fought "À la carte" programming. Now cable companies are becoming obsolete. - nirav72, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1I agree. PlayOn rocks. http://www.themediamall.com/playon
Its still in beta, so there are some rough edges. But it does Hulu, netflix, youtube , espn, cnn and cbs right now. I've been watching hulu on the ps3. - Otto, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Tried PlayOn, couldn't get it to stream Hulu properly.
- DeadOhioSky, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1PlayOn beta. Just came out today, works AMAZING.
- inactive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1content
- zerock, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1i agree man... Playstation Store gives me rentals, itunes does it too... how come they can't?
- gamben0, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1You can use the IE tab plug in, works like a charm.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/141 ... - spectre_25gt, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1In a way it was a blessing for me. I ended up watching a lot of things I might have missed otherwise. I'm certainly not going to complain about the expanded selection, though.
- Vektuz, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1... while at the same time major ISPs start applying download caps. I see a collision ahead.
.. wait, aren't many major american ISPs also part of the television networks that netflix would essentially compete with? haha... - sliksta, on 10/02/2008, -1/+1Netflix on XBMC. Be perfect for SD on a modded xbox.
