- Tredici, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I'm 18 and I can remove the underline from hyperlinks.
- pbjorge12, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I'm not too impressed that he's 15...I mean I'm 16 and could've written the application...
I don't mean to criticize the guy that wrote movietally or anything but is it really "rare" to have a talented teenage coder? - compaqdrew, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What the hell is this? You can digg slashdot now?
What's next, slashdotting digg? - babakshirazi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3
Web 1.0 = spinning globes and horrible sites.
Web 2.0 = rounded corners, big fonts & gradients and can't handle the Digg effect. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6But I'm just too white & nerdy
- looll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm 11 and I wrote a mission critical mainframe application used by the NOAA for asset tracking. The OpenVMS platform and Ada really makes it simple to put these things together.
- Tredici, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Do you know what, it's not all good news Sirsean. Every time I rent a hotel room damn room service warn me not to throw desktops out of the window.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The days of being a coder implying that you can't get laid are over. Sure, some people are just dorks, but an increasingly attractive set of girls find these skills very appealing.
2 years ago I had to look down at the ground when I said I was a programmer, but now I can say it straight to their faces and end the night in their bed. So to whoever has done all the work to elevate programmers to rock star status, I can only say: Nice work! - shortkid422, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No digg, look at everything the guy has submitted...all stuff pertaining to Movietally.
- codercode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I didn't see any 'beta disclaimer' there.
- alexzizka, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5
I completely agree with pbjorge12, I'm 17 and Ive had a computer in my home since for ever. Teens these days are surrounded by technology. It really is part of our culture and i think were the first generation that's actually completely submerged in electronic technology. - babakshirazi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
Who cares about accessibility? - paulb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a list keeper at the moment.
The recommendations don't seem to bear any relevance to the movies I've added. There's no way of telling it to ignore a movie without adding it to your list and 'not recommending' it, and even that doesn't do much. I 'not recommended' Back to the Future and its top 2 recommendations are now Back to the Future 2 and 3. D'oh.
Worth coming back to in a few months to see if it's moved on, but not much use to me at the moment. - lowerlogic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Link to actual article [blog]: http://opengardensblog.futuretext.com/archives/2006/09/movietally_and_understanding_web_20_design_.html
Link to Movietally website:
http://www.movietally.com/
Looks like the website is getting both slashdotted and ***** right now, so the site it really slow. - Tredici, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And if you go grab your pipe, your brown plaid hat and your magnifying glass, you'll notice that the submitters user name is actually 'Movietally'!!
- xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+115 years olds and their crack these days. Did I mention I was born in '91?
- cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1exactly what i was thinking, next time someone will submit a link to shoutwire.
But anyways, the web, and this site main focus is information so a link to a good source its always appreciated. - bradlyf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not exactly a model of web 2.0. The sites layout is done a nasty mess of nested tables. Also, many of the links are javascript calls which is also an accessibility no-no.
-bradly - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Yeah a 15 year old programmer. But is he GETTIN LAAAAAID?
Just remember, there are a lot of these startup web 2.0 sites. 75% of them fade out from being fairly useless. - sp1nm0nkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm not impressed with the website. I know plenty of talented people younger than him that could write it.
What I am impressed by is his ability to sling *****. "Remixing content"? "Emergent Navigation"? "Social Information"?
It's the .com boom all over again, complete with buzzwords. - antych, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0agrrr... 15 minutes ago I thought about creating something like last.fm for movies...
- codercode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well, he's just 15 and still have a lot more chances. Who knows that could be one of the most popular Web 2.0 site one day..Remember, even Digg took 2 years to get to what it is today.
- Fish5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice site but http://listal.com has been doing the same thing for a while
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -2/+1yeah, i dont see how this isn't encompassed in the "favorite movies" sections of facebook and myspace. it's not a significant difference enough to use both.
- serpentskiss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Typical 2.0. FFS, it even has a "beta" disclaimer. Note to "2.0" developers, if your code is that ***** that you have to slap beta on everything becasue you're not confident in it, don't publish the code.
If you are confident with it, then don't call it beta.
Buzzwords. Pah! - kazzyD, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Well, I'm impressed.
- idig, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Is it true that the kid who wrote this is just 15? Quick, someone offer him a billion dollars...
- m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1good write up
- tiders72, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1it is true! hes a genious!
