- kmanb182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I used to use it but I took it off...

Google Earth didn't even _come_ from Google... - goat2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I found that a PowerMac G5 with OSX Tiger works much better. "
good luck playing battlefield 2 - zenghost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow!! there's actually a free, reliable piece of software from microsoft?? lol
- theantidote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it's the best. But I always use it with Spybot and Ad-Aware
- r3neGaDe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now that its number one... watch them start charging for it...
- TheTrueSora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, that's what happens when you BUY OUT a really good product and OWN THE SOFTWARE THAT IT SCANS.
- CoolSilver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Giant Antispyware was ok. I'll stick to my spybot, adware, hijack this and only on rare cases spysweeper.
I'm never going to use their version of a once great product. - bigred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!
Microsoft + anti-spyware? #1?
HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
WHY do people always bash microsoft when THEY are the ones installing the spyware. How about you bash the software company that puts spyware in their software...
Or...
How about you get a freaking brain and don't install the spyware. It doesn't install itself. YOU are the one doing it. You are the idiot. - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WRONG!
Counter-Spy = #1
Microsoft AntiSpyware = #2 - lordelric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0zenghost is right, I don't htink I could trust a "reliable" piece of software from Microsoft
- ja318, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They didn't even *test* Spyware Doctor???
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sweet!
- dyserq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I must say that this is quite a good boost for Microsoft, seeing as though its Windows XP has often been criticised by those in the computing field for its unstability
It is a place which is deserved in some places but not in others, but there is quite a good firewall and computer scanners included - BxBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll disagree, althought MAS is nice, I use something else!
- wintermute0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Kashey - I really hope you saw the circular logic in your comment; if I were to say that "X is the best car because so many people drive an X. So many people drive X's because they're the best car" you'd call ***** on me.
@azrichard - the only reason winXP still has a lease on a partition on my computers is for adobe programs & the occasional game. I'm still a lightweight in nix, but at least I feel like I have the _right_ to bitch about MS. - IronChef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another Microsoft payoff.......Counterspy is the best!!!
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've used spyware doctor, webroot spy sweeper, sunbelt counterspy and microsoft antispyware fromerly giant antispyware is the bes. the guy with the hahahahaha probably has not even tried it let alone read about it before making a ignorant comment like that.
- cptshamrock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea, I think its the best for the general IE user, it runs itself everynight, and updates itself for free
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have ff, what is spyware?
- mercury81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using multiple spyware programs for a while, I just added MAS to the mix cause it pretty much does its thing without me having to mess with it. I also use Ad-Aware and Spybot, that trio pretty much nails everything.
- phore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is almost... ALMOST ironic
- wintermute0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This program didn't even come from Microsoft. They just stuck their logo on it"
Not to mention most likely adding a feature that reports 'anonymous usage statics' .... - skippy2057, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"How about you get a freaking brain and don't install the spyware. It doesn't install itself. YOU are the one doing it. You are the idiot."
Not always true, bigred. With the default settings and patches Windows XP SP2 *can* be infected with spyware with *no* user intervention. Of course, most of the time the spyware come from people downloading the cute little smiley faces thingamabobs from the sites with the bright, friendly colors... - Dracos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The few times I read about anything in consumer reports, there's always one critical detail that's just wrong. I'm not going to RTFA, because their conclusion is simply stupid. I bet there's no mention of Claria getting downgraded to ignore. Spybot+AdAware for me. Not that I need those much, tho... I don't use IE to look at any site I didn't write.
- bleutuna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't surprise me - it works better than ANY OTHER software I've tried. It's really phenomenal.
- La_Chops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I see they didn't test it against CounterSpy, which is currently my top anti-spyware program.
- dv8or70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a pretty good program. Still, it is far from perfect. I still use Spyware Blaster, Spybot, and Ad-Aware. In fact, Ad-Aware has been updating their definitions lately to catch quite a few items that Microsoft's product misses or ignores. I'd also recommend reading Spyware Warrior's thorough comparison on the topic:
http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-features.htm - bryan8m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It has WGA so it's no use for me...
- rideaurocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's #1 for now, but what happens when, in December '05, the beta trial expires and they expect us to cough up?
- Standaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love how it allows you to block startup programs.
- ja318, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0PcMag did a much better review...
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1829242,00.asp
Here's their scorecard:
http://www.pcmag.com/image_popup/0,1871,s=26689&iid=107698,00.asp - Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0counter spy #4 Microsoft antispyware #1
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I actually have 3 antispyware prodcuts running to make sure I get all spyware gone. the 3 I have are Micrsoft antispyware, Webroot spysweeper and etrust pest patrol
- frontbrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe next time Microsoft can build their new-found spyware know-how into preventing security holes that spyware exploits in the first place.
I am a Linux user now, MS won't get me back, except maybe for games, but I really don't play too many games. I usually buy games and get addicted for a couple weeks and lose interest, but that is how I am with a lot of stuff. - nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i cant wait for the google antispyware. what? u know google is probably gonna come out wit somethin like that.
- theantidote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Interesting to hear about, but I still won't use it. My spybot S&D + AdAware + a² (rarely) + Spywareblaster is more than good enough."
So your willing to pay for programs that aren't as good because they don't have the Microsoft name? Yet you still use that Windows operating system right....last I checked Microsoft has there name somewhere on there....
Look, people. You shouldn't have to pay for this stuff, stop being skeptical and just use it! If it ever has a price later on, just download a crack!
MS Antispy + Spybot + Ad-Aware will remove 99.9% of infections. And MS Antispyware will block a lot of them in the first place. And the total cost of these three programs plus Firefox is a whopping $0! Only $0 for a spyware free Windows (unless you are retarded and download a 1.5mb file from Kazaa called "The Sims 2" and think you're installing that. In that case, you really don't deserve that computer, give it to me.) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0u microsoft haters!
I love microsoft. Microsoft also has the best anti-spyware. - oxigen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hate to admit that microsoft made a good program, but they did. MS Anti-Spyware is by far and wide the best anti-spyware app for windows.
- skyshark88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0malavalla, I have the same problem i just can't seem to find any spyware on this damn Suse box????
- Acill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I also prefer the OS X Tiger method I use over MS's
- ashembers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm with you almostamanda - I trust Microsoft AS as much as I'd trust a skinhead in a peacekeeper uniform. When they demoted the threat level of Claria software, I lost all my trust for them, which is why I will NEVER BUY VISTA, no matter how good people say it is.
- almostmanda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, it's great now, but with Microsoft lowering Giant's ratings of certain spyware (the Gator default is now "ignore" since Microsoft and Claria had a little talk), I won't trust MS Anti-Spyware for much longer. Are they going to keep making deals with the big name spyware corps until nothing gets detected?
Ad-aware and Spybot aren't working like they used to for me, but I can't really tell because I don't get any spyware. I used to like MS Anti-Spyware, but now that Microsoft is mucking with it to reflect their corporate interests, I don't think I can use it any longer. - MikeHinds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0CounterSpy is best. Microsoft has actually caved to a few malware vendors that SunBelt (CounterSpy) is standing up to, against lawsuit threats.
I also use Spybot and Ad-Aware, "just in case". - IronChef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use Counterspy and XSOFTSPY 4.15 (was the only one for me to remove abetternet trojan). CS is in current beta status 1.5.77 and it rocks. Sunbelt is really devoted to antispyware and it shows.
- fulmaya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Trust or not to trust is not even relevant. My Spybot finds more than my ad-ware so do they suck??? no i have both and they compliment each other. MAS will add another layer. Also I always put soft firewall along with the hardware ones so i know what is going on just in case.
- snapcase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting to hear about, but I still won't use it. My spybot S&D + AdAware + a² (rarely) + Spywareblaster is more than good enough. Besides, I now trust MS less than ever with their more recent actions.
- Kashey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How people can rate a program which installs by itself. Of cuz it's the most used program. Of cuz it's the best cuz many people are using it.
- Cheirdal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The morons come out of the wood work if you mention "Microsoft" in a post. Antispyware was the best thing out there when it was owned by Giant and it's still the best now that Microsoft owns it.
- clancywiggum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that might be the dumbest thing i have heard in a while, i had that installed it was getting nothing, i get ad-aware, bam 64 pieces of garbage. MICROSOFT YOU SMELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
