- PatrickA, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37Glad to see Squidoo made the list. That 12 cents really helped me last year.
- str3ama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4lol ..you could always donate it to a charity, maybe get a tax writeoff for those 12 cents lol
Mashable is just churning out digg bait..they haven't posted an actual review or article in a while, it's all "Top 100+ X resource"
- str3ama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4lol ..you could always donate it to a charity, maybe get a tax writeoff for those 12 cents lol
- mdjohnson1, on 10/10/2007, -8/+12Now I really feel like I'm the only loser who hasn't made a penny from the internet.
PS ... I'm willing to publicly call myself a loser on Digg for money. - Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37Thanks for the link! I've made millions!!!
- thesoprano, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10I bet your results were not typical.
- Oniony, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I'll bet it was a joke.
- schlidel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0No... He probably has now made millions.
- schlidel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Ooops.... double

- Darkhacker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+27Why not just use email and help out a Nigerian prince? It worked for my grandparents.
- raynar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Greeting and thank you. I am BoobliBoobli, from Nigiria. I am a prince. Even though I cannot spell Nigiriia
- torched, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Seems like the best way to make money online, is by selling people courses on how to make money online... butterfly marketing was a pretty good example of that.
- DefaultGen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Or you can get a job.
- 4815162342, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Or you can have a job, and play poker online. I've made more than my salary from online poker this year.
- 4815162342, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2haha. hahaaha. hahahahahahhaa.
- xero9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah I tried that. I've broken even but that's it. As much as I'd like to make thousands off online poker, the sad truth is 7 out of those 8 people at the table are going to lose. Chances are I'll be one of those 7.
- StudsTurkel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wrong. You have to know when to hold them and when to fold them. When to walk away, and when to run.
- LegendarySock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2***** that, we're living in the 21st century man! Get with the plan!
- 4815162342, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Or you can have a job, and play poker online. I've made more than my salary from online poker this year.
- ahammett, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Buried as lame... If you want to make money online you could always just get a job at McDonalds and make more income than most aspiring web entrepreneurs do...
- darnit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I actually make a good amount of money online, granted it's peddling porn.
- chrismartens26, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7We are all thankful for your contributions to society.
- darnit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I actually make a good amount of money online, granted it's peddling porn.
- Monstradamus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17err... or you could make money by opening a blog with a lot of ads and submit your blog entries to Digg =P
- tyywebb, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19Thanks to this article, I've already made $305,400 and now you can too!
- xlar54, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Ive signed up for just about all of them.
Now, if you all wouldnt mind, come and read my blog while I go and fill out some surveys. I get my free iPod once Ive finished only 6 more sponsor ads.... - SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23I'm not even going to bother reading this before i comment, since i already know what many people seem to think will make them a ***** of money:
Load up your blog with ads, then try to trick people on Digg, Stumbleupon and ***** knows how many other sites, into browsing to your blog with the promise of an interesting article only to have a blog come up so hideously perverted with ads that it's hard to determine where the ads stop and the content starts.
One can also look at the front page of just about every major website out there. The major news sites for instance, cnn.com, msnbc.com, the abc, cbs, FOX news sites... all of them have more advertising on their pages than news. In my opinion, if you are a news agency you should be required to at least have more news on your site than anything else. Otherwise you should be declared an ad agency.
I still am amazed that people are totally unable to see what makes sites like Digg, Youtube, Google, Myspace so popular. Launching a site exactly like them is not going to make you rich. These sites got this way because they were original ideas or they implemented the idea in a really good way. You are not going to get rich quick on the web by finding out how other people make money and then doing that. This is article is mislabled:
It should read "100+ Things you should avoid if you don't want to get stuck in the ***** internet rat race".- vonskippy, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Feel better now?
- SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4YES!
especially now that i've read the article and found that it is exactly what i figured it would be. Links to a ***** of places where you, the consumer, are give the chance to personally hock the wares of companies (why they even bother with marketing teams in today's economy i'll never understand), and further add to the annoyance of the internet. Yes, friend, you too can be given the opportunity to lie about how wonderful a product is for a measly few pennies!
Do you think i was off base?
- SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4YES!
- vonskippy, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Feel better now?
- headswine, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2We should all go to as many sites as possible and click on as many ads as possible just to totally invalidate the internet advertising model.
- Aokami, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2"Blog bloggy blog blogger Adsense!" is unfortunately the current language of the web. It's only temporary as this is only the awkward teenage stage of such a great tool. The key part of this awkward development is that there are people stirred to consider and implement the web as an income generator that may fall through initially but for a true entrepreneur the passion will remain to conquer. This, fostering a drive to learn and grow as a content provider, will build the face of the next generation of the accessible web. Right now we are just running through the walmart version of a gold rush, but at least the people are engaged.
- voitenko, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1well , actually it is possible to make money online
just the matter of skills - contradictator, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I'm broke, but honestly, I'm also too ashamed to Digg this.
- KingLeo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Wow you guys are funny. Being a full-time online entrepreneur since Jan. 06, I am amazed at how online marketing is viewed by "outsiders". Ever heard of Mike Filsaime? Perry Marshall? I mean, let's face it... everyone buys stuff online... someone IS making money off of these sales going on... do a search on Google about anything and a good percentage of ads shown are affiliate marketers, but you'd never know that because they're affiliates of big names such as Amazon.com, ebay, GoDaddy, etc.
- SquigglyP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I'm sure you are able to make a good deal of money doing it. My issue is that it's pretty much completely unnecessary. People will buy things regardless of how many ads are out there for the product, or out there for competing products. Marketing used to be about convincing people that your product is better. Now it's devolved into simply saying the name as much as possible so that your shoddy worthless pile of crap is the first thing they think of when they think of type of product.
Add to that the sad truth that well over half of the bandwidth used on the internet is most likely used for advertising, and you can see that essentially these companies are throwing away money. It clutters the web, it annoys everyone, it doesn't generate any more income... it's totally worthless and the surge in bandwidth is probably costing customers more as increased ISP charges to deal with the bandwidth issues.
Have fun making money while it lasts, tho.

- Apoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1somehow i get the idea on how free websites work
- iJump, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Am I the the only one that thinks this looks like something you would see in your spam folder?
- JamesBond, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I made $1,367 in my first week! It's like easy...
- 1337diggster, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7Here is the problems I've run into when trying to make money online.
1) Theres millions of Chinese and Indians who are willing to work much harder to get even the smallest amount of money. (IE. farming in MMORPGS)
2) The electricity you burn in your computer tends to be worth more than the money you produce from said activity.
3) Your Internet connection costs more the the total amount of money you will make in one month.
4) Theres millions of other people all trying to do the same thing (see #1).
5) Even minimum wage jobs will most likely pay more.
So I've come to this conclusion. If you want to make money on the Internet then turn off the computer and cancel your Internet service!!! You will probably make around 500 USD just by doing that! Then all the time you spent on the Internet trying to make money you instead go out and find a job that pays.
However, in my quest for treasures online I have found a different way to make money and it is not by trying to earn money but instead by investing it! I've managed to yield about 10% through prosper.com loans (All to very safe borrowers might I add). Also I've managed to make a nice return by investing in one MMORPG I play (which shall remain nameless - I don't want any competition.). This MMORPG allows the players to literally buy stocks from income producing NPCs in the game (for example, vender's that tax transactions). So you are basically buying an income stream in the game. Likewise, the stocks you purchase are limited in supply so they usually go up in value as the money supply increases. So far I've manged to yield 23% return by doing this (I sell all the gold collected from the income streams for RL money)! Another venture I've been looking to is investing in the second life game. I've been looking around and it seems very promising.- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I usually hire Indians or Chinese to do my footwork spamming for me to get my pages high in the SERPs...
In certain niches, being on the front page of Google search results for 24 hours is a solid 100k$+
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I usually hire Indians or Chinese to do my footwork spamming for me to get my pages high in the SERPs...
- thewebdev, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0The best way to make good amounts of money is to sell high price goods. Like for example http://www.wealthymarketer.com (not my link).
- csapdani, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You cannot get rich by blogging. Well, a few people can, actually, but most bloggers don't. Especially if you are writing only to earn a few bucks. Whoever wants to make money (MONEY I say, not a few dollars), should get a JOB.
- ForbesBingley, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2@SquigglyP: normally, I would agree with you, because that's usually the case with get-rich-quick schemes. However, in this instance, paying a visit to the article first might have helped.
So I marked you down.
Also, not everyone is an idiot, but I can see why & I might think that at times... - nick1123, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2How to make money online - it's simple:
1) Create ebook on how to make money online
2) Recruit affiliates to sell your ebook
3) Every customer that buys from you will likely buy stuff again. Put them in an email list and offer them other ebooks.
No training, skills or ethics required.- LegendarySock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14) ???
5) PROFIT!!!
- LegendarySock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14) ???
- patcarling, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Only idiots claim that it's impossible to make money online. If they had half a brain they'd check business for sale and site for sale forums where thousands of profit making internet businesses change hands every month. Many of them have years of proper Chartered Accountant audited final accounts showing piles and piles of profit. You don't have to be an Amazon or Ebay. Here's one article that made front page on Digg some months ago: http://www.experienced-people.co.uk/1042-top-ways-of-making-money-online/ It's about finding what works for YOU.
- GreedKills, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I guess Mashable is becoming like SmashingMagazine, millions of good links you dont have time to visit
- beefandy1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I Have tried all sorts, I have got a Squidoo lens ranked at 200 and odd, listed high in search engines, still don't make anything, its a waste of time
- buetforasif, on 11/04/2007, -0/+0Here's a better one, you get paid DAILY.
http://www.dollarpays.com/?refid=27375 - webmagpie, on 11/18/2007, -0/+0That's a brilliant compilation as always from mashable.
