- ROFLance, on 10/12/2007, -6/+58Uh, people who want to play xbox 360 games?
- roblabanca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21If you are reading this and never tried XBMC, go and learn how to get it on your old XBOX.
It is hands down the best media center device out there. Once you have it setup the way you want, its fantastic. Everyone who visits my house loves it. - Greif, on 10/12/2007, -14/+28Who needs an xbox 360 when my "old" xbox with mc 360 does everything and more!
booy! Thanks to team blackbolt!! - Drewcool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Do'h . . . few seconds too late.

This actually came up a while back. Oddly enough, MS was fine with the skin as long as Team Blackbolt removed the official Xbox 360 logo (There might have been a few other things, but I can't remember.)
I guess they're not all heartless, mercantile bastards after all. ;p - ZimShady, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11im surprised you even managed to make a comment...
- greenmountain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The Blackbolt 360 skin is very well done, but I still prefer the black PMIII.
I actually did not buy an Xbox until I read about XBMC.
Then I built a second one. Took me weeks to get up to speed and figure it out. I just kept digging through forums. It is the thing that makes it light years better than the PS2, in many ways more functional than the current generation. This is not mindless fangrrrl horseploppings. It is true.
I still go into Gameslut and start raving about it. Those guys are not even allowed to Talk about this masterpiece. The experience has permanently made me a believer in Open Source. The results are undeniable. Damn DRM and proprietary BS and Pay Per View, frickitall. XBMC shows what these machines could be.
I love the scripts. Drop in the folder, it works. Delete it's gone, the OS does not care. Play the file, any file.
It really is a rock solid OS. I imagine a variation of that tiny tough bulletproof secure thing on a PC and my mind glazes over. I really respect the old school aspect of having limited resources, making it efficient, making it just work. I cannot say enough about it. Masterpiece is the word.
thanks for the rantspace.
later - ckohler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8To see version 1.0 in action, check out our podcast:

Here's a (blurry) YouTube version of the video also:

While the XBox is too underpowered to playback native 720p videos, with XBMC it can upconvert any 480p vid to 720p/1080i/1080p. And it does a *damn* good job of it. - Vision77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Hell of a job! Lots of improvements! I like the XBMC Live Place feature the best.
- deweyhewson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Actually, if my memory serves me right, Microsoft did "ask" them to remove actual 360 images from the first editions of the skin, but have since given their blessing to it.
- buckdog05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Here is an article on how do put the Xbox Media Center on your XBOX.
http://www.productwiki.com/microsoft_xbox/article/how_to_go_from_xbox_to_xbox_media_center_in_30_minutes.html - ptcfast2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Let us not hope Microsoft pulls an Apple and makes them pull the skin because it infringes on the Xbox 360's interface. Digg me down if you want Mac fanboys, but both you and I both know Apple, and they would be having their lawyers working on this as we speak.
- Juntistik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Microsoft doesn't care about XBMC, they've dropped everything for the original xbox and moved on to the 360. Part of me wonders if Microsoft got their media center inspiration from XBMC. The differance between XBMC/MC360 and the 360 is it can play pretty much any video format you can throw at it(such as Divx). The 360 has VERY limited video playback. I like MC360 and I love what team blackbolt is doing with the XBMC skinning/themes. Long live XBMC!
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6They do! http://www.team-mediaportal.com/
This project is based off the XBMC code but it includes many more options and features including the ability to do basic DVR stuff (live TV, recording, time shifting) with a TV tuner card. There's also a great selection of plugins including a web browser, RSS feed reader, etc. You can even get the MC360 theme for it. (warning: It IS beta software. It's a little buggy right now so have patience. This is am ambitious project and they're working hard on it. Every release is leaps and bounds better than the last) - graemee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@straxus
True, but h264 files are not playable, too many frames dropped or freezes. - joeykilluv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4there is a x86 xbmc, you CAN use MC360 on your pc if you'd like to.
- columbusgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Old Xbox does HD quite well BTW. You just need the right adapter. I have been enjoying mine for over 2 years.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I finally got around to upgrading the XBMC on my old Xbox and *love* it. My friends are Xbox360 Junkies, but honestly the only thing it does is play 360 games, and uhh... I can't think of one I want to play. GOW is so straight forward, small maps, and 4 player teams, plus no clan support? Talk about polished! lol.
Honestly if you gave me the choice of my current xbox with xbmc and/or a brand new 360, I'd take my old xbox every time. Think: Streaming xvid's from your PC without extracting, burning, or transferring. The beauty! - bentheo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i'm still a bigger fan of project mayhem iii
- Krakn3Dfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3OMG, someone is making an XBMC skin based on the PSP/PS3 T-Bar design!
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=556232
"I'd like to torture myself with the worst ***** skin design ever, thanks!"
"Before, I could see all my options on the same screen, now I can only see 2 or 3 in each direction, this is sweet!" - brayan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Here is an appletv skin for xbmc
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=583541&st=0 - QuiescentWonder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why don't you just download the rev7841-MC360 release from: http://t3ch.xil.us/
That should solve your problems. - kruykaze, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No torrent needed for the skin it's a free download.
You can either get the skin here: http://blackbolt.x-scene.com/
or you can get the latest t3ch including mc360 1.0 here: http://mkrit.blogspot.com/2007/02/t3ch-has-his-own-site.html - xhotardx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone else having trouble loading this? I am getting a "Your xbox only supports skins of ver 2 and up" error message!
- Wienkes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3To their website.
http://blackbolt.x-scene.com/index.php?p=skins&cat=mc360 - QuiescentWonder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You mean the skin just hit version 1.0, the program (XBMC) is actually at 2.0.1
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7you mean here... http://t3ch.xil.us/
cut out the middle man... - sachmul, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Yea, I was about to say - People who want to play Gears...
- kennyc20xe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Check out MediaPortal, it's made by the team behind xbmc and it can only get better with the power of a pc. TV cards add a whole new dimension with PVR functions etc...
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"@maximumsteve1: Actually, you're stupid. These things are compiled with the leaked XBOX SDK which means that they can't be distributed officially on sites."
Only the Xbox Media Center binaries are compiled with the SDK, the skins are just images/XML files
- Ben - EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is only for the original Xbox.
- Krakn3Dfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MS would make more friends if they just let you play DiVX on the 360 already. They're not keeping anyone from doing it through 3rd party methods, they might as well just give up and allow it already.
- theGrue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn, somewhere in the combo of this and the latest T3CH SVN build things are quite buggy. Play a widescreen video -> Exit to menus (X/Display button) -> Go to top menus -> CRASH!
- Cimlite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@jaymoon
It says right on XBMC's homepage that the PC build included is only for testing scripts/skins and that's all it's planned to be as well. So don't expect that to get any better than it is in terms of being a media player. - Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Like joeykilluv said...
If you download a decent build of XBMC, it includes a .exe that runs XBMC on your PC... Very limited right now, as it is mainly for testing scripts/skins, but it will only get better over time. :) - generalnewbie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Its actually 1.01 i just posted some news on this... http://dltv.wordpress.com Enjoy
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I love how they do this stuff, but why don't they do it for the PC so we can get watch HD stuff with a sweet UI and stuff.
- crossers, on 07/22/2008, -0/+0and what news in this one. I think I can do everything with my old box.

http://www.chasr.org/ - playedalive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Great program and now finaly at version 1, some amazing new features included.
- EerFoolWVU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a great skin!
This got me to finally update my version of XBMC (previous version was more than 3 years old) and I had no idea how much I'd been missing out on.
Not only does this skin look great, but I'm thrilled that I can now experience the "live" experience using my modded XBox on an alternative server.
Thanks to everybody who put their time and effort into this project, I wish I was capable of doing things like this. - hmvh1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3anyone have a torrent link?
- deweyhewson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3If you knew about XBMC at all for the last year you'd already know about MC360.
- jcaino, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2i hope not, because i have been holding off on a 360 purchase for this reason.
now that its out, ver 1., i can get my 360 - EasY_TargeT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1where is it on xbins?
- lolhax, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@maximumsteve1: Actually, you're stupid. These things are compiled with the leaked XBOX SDK which means that they can't be distributed officially on sites.
@Parent poster: Get it off xbins. - Sonizel, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2hd?
- maximumsteve1, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1no, you're stupid
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+0So this may sound stupid as i am a new owner of Xbox360 as of last week. What does this do for me ? Or is this only for the 1st Xbox
And how do i get that cool little avater about 3 inches long i see people having on forums with their name , pic and points system - TheADOGuy, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1So this is a skin for XBox Media Center (The Media Player for the original XBox) to make it look like a 360? Kinda lame I think.
