- utch, on 01/22/2008, -2/+7This software has saved many a hours at my work. (Especially Texter!)
- kevyn, on 01/22/2008, -1/+5by you guys, I assume you mean the internet minions?
- MWeather, on 01/22/2008, -1/+5Being a dick is going to help that how, exactly?
- FlopticalBob, on 01/22/2008, -1/+4ugh.. I logged in just to digg you down =/
- Autofac, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2Dropcloth is a great tool for anyone like myself that struggles with doing only one thing on the computer at a time.
- Murdats, on 01/22/2008, -1/+3wow. I mean I am a windows user but that is just arrogant.
all he was asking is if someone with the skills could do it, is there any harm in that? - chan0429, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2or Adam Pash Senior Editor for Lifehacker; adam at lifehacker.com
http://www.adampash.org/ - MWeather, on 01/22/2008, -0/+2So you don't use all those nifty scripts you can use on Mac? Seems like a waste of a perfectly good OS.
- MWeather, on 01/22/2008, -0/+1It's basically a copy of the Compiz ADD Helper, one of my most used plugins.
- MWeather, on 01/22/2008, -0/+1Same here, only I'm making one that will move the window to another desktop. Desktop 4 is now my junk pile.
- Eisim, on 01/23/2008, -0/+1The LG-peeps write excellent code, I can't live without my Texter and Better Gmail - and today I've discovered Swept Away, Dropcloth and ClickWhen as well.
Show some love for LH people, how is it possible to not like them? Great site, great software. No complaints. - Murdats, on 01/22/2008, -0/+1You are correct, but they have given me some good ideas, I like the swept away one, I am so scripting that, espec for when I am doing reasearch or coding (which is my job) I tend to end up with too many things open.
- kcap122, on 01/23/2008, -0/+1DropCloth = saved from embarassment during porn time?
- wicked6, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1Dugg for Texter. Now I can type in my funky shorthand and not have to edit it later
- Atomic1fire, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1blogspam is content taken from another blog/news service in order to gain hits
Original content from a blog is not blogspam
You blog haters think if its a blog
it must be blog spam - inactive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Why the hell would I want to install those ***** programs when I have superior alternatives on my Windows machine? Linux sucks.
- inactive, on 01/22/2008, -1/+1Great choice!!! I bet you also don't have to worry about ever having to make a decision on which software to use since Macs' libraries are so limited!
- MWeather, on 01/22/2008, -1/+1Blog spam is where a blog parrots content from the wire or another blog, not unique content created by the blog itself. If I posted an original story from CNN, would that be news spam?
- chan0429, on 01/22/2008, -1/+1Not sure how this even constitutes "blog spam". The utilities are there and the developer is on their staff...
- MWeather, on 01/22/2008, -2/+2"I'll continue to enjoy using whichever program and game I want to natively."
Ok. Install Compiz. Or Rhythmbox. Or Konqueror. Or MythTV, etc. etc. etc.
Linux runs far, far more software than Windows does. I don't care about running natively, since my OS has far less overhead, most Windows programs actually run faster.
Congratulations on not getting any viruses, though. On such an insecure platform, that's quite an accomplishment. - MWeather, on 01/22/2008, -1/+1I'll remember that line next time you get a virus.
- ww2db, on 01/23/2008, -0/+0As long as the utilities are useful, I don't mind the spam, even if this is really considered spam.
- daonlyfreez, on 01/22/2008, -3/+2All mentioned Windows applications can be replaced with AutoHotkey scripts...
- HunkieChan, on 01/22/2008, -3/+2can you guys make texter for linux ?
- inactive, on 01/22/2008, -2/+1I haven't had one in about 6-7 years (if that), but thanks for playing! I'll continue to enjoy using whichever program and game I want to natively.
- inactive, on 01/22/2008, -4/+1Pardon me, I'm just a bit used to the Linux cult taking over on Digg and blasting those with any other OS.
- ww2db, on 01/22/2008, -5/+1I've been a Lifehacker fan for a long time now, and have tried some of the software listed here. I definitely recommend trying out some of these!
- inactive, on 01/22/2008, -8/+3You're the one who chose Linux over Windows. Deal with it or learn to port it yourself.
- vpsingh88, on 01/22/2008, -7/+0 Lifehacker since last year
- bffoley, on 01/22/2008, -10/+2Oh hey, its the daily Lifehacker blog spam!
- Wallstreet, on 01/22/2008, -18/+3I switched to Mac and no longer worried about the hacker and could concentrate on life
