- Minor changes and improvements - OmegaOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2>How much spyware is included with this?
the last packs had none AFAIK. i wouldn't guess this will be any different. - M3wThr33, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4For those of you who use codecs for more than just playback, this is good. I record in Mpeg-2, so this pack is quite useful.
Anybody who actually does video work needs more than just VLC, you ignorant elitist pricks. - jp10558, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've found Codec Packs to be a godsend, first Nimo IIRC and now K-Lite. Plus one of these came with BS Player which for some not understood reason I really like.
And of course MPC is awesome.
I tried VLC, and just hated it's UI. Can't stand to use it.
I really can't understand all the "don't use codec packs" posts - never had a problem with one. - vide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do yourself a favor and check out http://www.cccp-project.net/ instead of this mix of incompatible settings and whatnot.
- Casedot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what's wrong with installing quicktime? I would rather have a nice working player than a jumbled mess of codecs...
quicktime is good IMO. - Revo_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Like the guy said over here a bunch of you are a bunch of elitest pricks, first VLC doesnt always decode that well second ever heard of configuring what you install? Ive never had a single problem with klite and every video and audio file ive thrown at it has worked perfectly, for over a year now. you dont need any other pack with this one
- BKDotCom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I haven't had a single problem with K-Lite mega and would recommend it to anyone. It just works.
real and quicktime work in the browser
every audio/video combination file play embeded in my browser just like they're supposed to, they play in media player, media player classic, winamp, or whatever. - beached, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1or you could just use VLC.. . . .
- vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey guys, VLC doesn't use codecs? All video is encoded somehow... How does it decode encoded video without a coder/decoder (AKA a codec)?
Answer: It doesn't! VLC USES A CODEC! SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE! VLC USES A CODEC! - gookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and...
Klite is the cleanest of all codec packs. You are prolly too dumb to download a copy from a malicious site. - cuby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mark me down for another CCCP vote. i had probs with K-Lite, but since installing CCCP, no glitches, no hiccups, everything works.
- Casedot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ahh, i guess i shouldn't say a thing of the past, just not as necessary for those in the know. ;-)
- jbrocket99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Never liked all in one codec packs, always seem to cause problems on my computers...
- nextsteposx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can I play Quicktime in Windows media player?
- -neon-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, another vote for VLC ere.
- M3wThr33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have a choice of recording with my TV Tuner in mpeg 1 or 2. After a lot of testing, I had to choose mpeg 2. Some have called it crazy, but it works.
- fragmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Be warned, installing all those codecs tends to make some conflicting entries to the registry and can be a big pain to uninstall completely.
- whitesanjuro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1um er VLC/mplayer? codecs are for suckers.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why all the trash-talking about codec packs? I use K-Lite Mega, and it works flawlessly for MPC and Firefox embedded media, including Quicktime and Real files.
In fact, after using MPC, it makes it hard to use ANYTHING else, which sucks since MPC doesn't have a Linux port. - Ponch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0defilerpack for the win
- Cheeze_Head, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Crap, Crap, and more Crap. I had installed this at one time, and then only about half of my movies worked.
One full format and a VLC later I couldn't be happier. - rebootjac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To all of those VLC users, okay I admit it is a good player but even VLC fails to play some movies that media player classic plays just fine. My solution? get both.
- mattyfu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not a windows user but if you can't get mp3's working on it chances are pretty good there is something wrong with you as well as the OS
- latinchulovip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Conflicts??????? if you havent use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack plz shut the ***** up. K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is the reason I don't have to install real media player and quicktime on my pc.
- gookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0VLC is blocky *****. I hate it. And it is incomplete. no browser integration. wudnt play ALL files.
Klite is all you'll ever need. MPC + FFDShow + QT & Real Alternative. - weirdal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using this for the past year and a half and have had no problems at all. that might just be luck though...
- nextsteposx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want to be able to play Quicktime movies in Media Center Edition which uses Windows Media Player 10.
Will this pack enable Windows media player 10 (not classic) to play quicktime? - jjk5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Codec packs are a waste of time, they install more things than you probably need and can cause needless problems for people. Just install codecs as you find yourself needing them.
- Kvad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Your PC isnt going to exactly like you after installing a million codecs. Just use VLC http://www.videolan.org/
- EvanWasHere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes. Quicktime and Real files play in Media Player Classic. This is by far the BEST codec pack out there.
- wingo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Just use g-spot to find out what codec you need and d/l the 1 file... no need to plaster down everything.... makes no sense. These are usually spyware/malware ridden."
1. what about the ppl without or with poor internet connection? i'd rather bring my mega pack and select & install the codecs i want. that way i get the job done.
2 if you download codecs which usually contain hidden spyware/malware you're at the wrong place to begin with. a firewall will tell you that.
3 to everyone else, you are NOT forced to install every codec in this mega pack. - miniblitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is there a codec to play .H264 and .M4V videos on the XBOX?
- alfoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Recording in Mpeg2? You're kiddin, right?
- Gaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0crap, try ffdshow on a clean computer, it will read almost anything
- flipper5311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this codec pack runs perfect on my system and i don`t understand those who say "don`t use k-lite codec packs" or whatever.got no problem with playing media after installing this codec pack.
- dustjacket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man, there should be some kinda WIN/PC only warning flag on these headlines.
I've only ever used mac, which is good 'cause I'd have killed so many pcs by now; downloading and trying to uninstall about 47 different media players. My boss brought his (really nice lookin) sony vaio into the studio the other day, spent 20 minutes getting it to pick up the wireless, 10 minutes on google images lookin for the biggest ***** to show off the (really nice lookin) screen and promptly got hijacked!
Hah!
It's always the porn with you pc users! I don't believe in worms! It's just spyware and you'all
went to the same porn site! (another reason why I'd have a wake of ruined pcs behind me..)
I got your media center- your girlfriends Victoria Secret catalogs and an ol' vcr! - kingprad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dustjacket: the solution is to have a separate browser/profile for the porn browsing. On that one, turn off cookies, java, javascript, everything else. Should have no problems after that :)
- rookworm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is there some way to use Media player classic as a fromtend to vlc? That would give MPC features with VLC convience.
- tranix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is the best media solution for Ubuntu Linux? Can VLC completely replace (or integrate with) Totem player?
- klitecodec, on 06/18/2009, -0/+0It is very old package, please download latest 4.9 from here:
http://www.video-codec-pack.com - teitoku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ooooh, exactly what I need. Mystery processes and system tray icons. Crap on this.
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just use g-spot to find out what codec you need and d/l the 1 file... no need to plaster down everything.... makes no sense. These are usually spyware/malware ridden.
- HecknJive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0klite codec pack has worked flawless for me for years now. only codec related setting i've ever had a problem with was divx audio decoding having to be set from digital to analog for the rare rip with fast audio, and that was unrelated to the klite pack itself.
- Mocib, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No codec packs (or fddshow, for that matter) for me, thank you. I install all the needed codecs separately. Has worked for me always and without any problems or worries about spyware etc..
- stolenpass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"These are usually spyware/malware ridden."
If you read any of the other comments you probably wouldn't have bothered posting that. - oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"you ignorant elitist" such and such. by mostly 3s...
I assume youth has reared it's immature head. I see no reason, in an otherwise reasonable exchange of ideas, for this Kind of abuse and language. Please keep your poorly phrased feelings to yourself, until you actually know what they are. And they WILL change....
Cyborg - BKDotCom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+06 hours to download?!?!
why bother, it'll take you days to download a media file
And if you noticed (which you didn't) there is also a 6MB (standard) and 12MB (full) version of K-Lite avail. Not many actually need the MEGA. - toliman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well, how do i broach this one delicately ... who wants to now dig 'k-lite mega codec pack 1.45', 6 hours after downloading 1.44 ... not fun. at least they should provide some kind of delta or upgrade for previous installs, 30mb+ for a 500kb update for some minute patch to get the latest version is silly. if it want all bundled into one release, i wouldnt mind so much, but i dont really know if the difference between 1.42,43,44 and 1.45 is, to be honest
- veter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0VLC uses plug-ins...it doesnt install a bunch of codecs on your computer...the problem with that is you can't watch embedded videos. so, there's the trade-off.
