- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -24/+65What is this? You used proper capitalization, and you even used a period, but you somehow managed to spell 'Your' wrong?!

Also, in before Firefox shills. - Eldoo77, on 10/12/2007, -11/+31Yeah, they only have about 85% of the market! Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -20/+36Look, we don't need to hear your pro-firefox comments. Okay, you use a different browser. Good for you. But you're not contributing to the conversation. So stop it.
- bluephoenix, on 10/12/2007, -11/+26Clearly you are not in the IT or webdesign field....despite the complications and security flaws you just can't get by these days without considering IE as the standard and most popular web browser used today.
- NoMoreNicksLeft, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Damn. And here I was hoping that they'd fix DOM or CSS, or maybe even get rid of obnoxious VML and give us SVG. I mean, I can't hope for application/xml+xhtml or anything, but couldn't they get rid of the internal padding on the object tag?
But at least we have re-arrangeable tabs. - pabster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13And Opera could do it in 50MB or less. Your point?
- Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Opera is where most of the NEW browser features come from. Even firefox has played catchup to them.
Still it is nice to see the most widely used browser improving. - bluephoenix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Note to people installing over IE public beta 2....the install can be a nightmare if you don't have complete admin priviledges in the registry..(also make sure you uninstall the old version first with "Show Updates" checked in the ADD/REMOVE dialogue)..I spent a good 20 minutes running regmon and pouring over the log to find access denied registry error messages...not to mention the constant reboots during this process. Make sure you're familar with your registry before installing this
- yathosho, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14to download WITHOUT VALIDATION, try this link http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Internet-Explorer--Beta-Download-25028.html
however, on installation IE7 tries to validate your windows, but disabling your network will continue installation. of course i can't guarantee it won't check again later, but then again.. i'm a firefox user anyway :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What's funny is the whole "it doesn't happen to me so it must be a lie" attitude Firefox users have re. issues with Firefox.
- bluehouse, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12linking directly to source > blog spam
- IQ70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+81. Safari is not free on OS7.
2. Had MS continued to made advances in IE, the EU would rip the company apart. It had to stop so that there would be some other software as a competitor. The same reason Vista doesn't have a CD/DVD burner. Look what happened when they included WMP in XP. Apple can get away with a lot more because it has 3% market share. OSX comes with iTunes software that allows you to buy only from their online store and works only on iPods. It also has Quicktime which cannot be uninstalled from the OS.
3. Think about it. - Hortnon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That's ok. We can manage without you, I bet.
- bonzooznob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7no, not super lame... anyone that does web design, knows that there is a heck of a lot of reality in the chart.
check all the blogs, IE Feedback site, CSS discussion lists, JavaScript & DOM sites... PPK, etc.
Coding for MSIE is a huge pain. There are so many things that the "web" could be, if only MSIE caught up. - byronm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@ Tyrel
Vista is IE 7+ which is a different branch all toget her. IE 7+ gets updated with each release thus build 5456 is the latest version of vista / ie7+ - Hortnon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Why does anyone that doesn't agree with you have to be an 'ignorant mass'?
I'm a software developer / database admin, and I use IE7 and am perfectly happy with it. - Hortnon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@manitoba98xp
I'm pretty sure that was disproven, because the leak still happens when the caching is turned off, and when the browser sits idle doing nothing at all. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16Bwaaaaaahahahahahhaah @ complaining about bloat and citing Firefox as an example of not-bloat. Please tell me you're just being silly and aren't actually retarded.
- chandrasonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What's new in Beta 3 : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/about/whatsnew/default.mspx
- dickeytk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9@Ilyanep
it was just a bug they fixed, not a feature - yokat, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15Check out how much web designers like IE.
http://blog.alsacreations.com/images/camembert.png - snownskate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Oh, gotcha. Most definately, I believe it does still hold the majority for browsers.
One thing IE does have over FF is the group policy control as well....makes it way easier to administrate. - markellus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9just for anyone that cares firefox STILL has memory management problems ... right now my firefox browser is using almost 300 MB of RAM and that's with only three tabs open. However, IE7 runs the same tabs while only using 92 MB of RAM.
- bluephoenix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I also use firefox exclusively, I was referring to the fact that you still need to design for IE compatibility as a designer (which is what I am) and I would imagine IT have to deal with all kinds of headaches from people using IE..so you'd have to know the software inside and out. Trust me, I wish that everyone would just use firefox...although IE is definitely improving with each new release.
- TheEditor1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12The two biggest problems on digg, the dupe police and the grammar police. Both need to get real jobs and submit something cpnstructive instead of the ***** they always seem to submit.
- ArmchairAthlete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That's great, people who'd try ie7 beta don't care what browser you use.
- Wolfbeta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Shame I still can't manage to uninstall Beta 1.
- Punisher2K, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8And a pirate apparently.
- bosewicht, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7"Your Forgetting one Huge thing....HUGE....IE 7 is based on Firefox....lmao"
But without the memory leak??? :)
When are they ever gonna fix that?? Regardless, competition is good for the users. I think it's about time MS puts a little effort into IE. - idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Then don't.
- msjgriffiths, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4IE7 is a combination security and catch-up release.
That said, they're improving on most features to the extent that Firefox 2.0 is basically a graft of the features in the IE7 Beta 1/2/3.
Security, however, is the biggest "fix." - scanman20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Anyone else have beta 2 running fine, remove it, and have beta 3 refuse to go on? Microsoft's help steps are worthless.
- csb92376, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I agree. Whatnot was the most useful feature to come out in Firefox. Now, every time I use Internet Explorer, I keep wishing it had more Whatnot. "This definitely needs some Whatnot... and maybe a few tabs".
Well, at least the they got the tabs now, even if they're going to give the impression that they invented the idea, and whatnot. - tehsuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Any info on the ability to install BETA 7 + 6 on the same machine? Last time I checked (BETA 2, I think) there was no way to easily install and run both on the same machine. I love how they do this to developers.
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Let me add that this new version shows URLs of (some) buttons when they are hovered over with the cursor.
Hopefully the RC will add it to buttons when tabbed to also. - wbsmith89, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7firefox has had draggable tabs since 1.5.....
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I had to uninstall Beta 2 first. The Beta 3 installer exited with "Internet Explorer 7 is already installed" or similar text.
- sragzorz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Thanks for adding that crucial bit of information. The community was unaware.
- pabster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Um, Opera has had draggable tabs for years.
- zedj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You must be a lousy IT admin if you encourage people to use a memory leaking, bloated software that doesn't adhire to web standards. You should encourage the use of Opera instead :)
- nighthwk1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That IE7-like RSS page is actually taken from Safari...
( http://media.arstechnica.com/images/tiger/safari-rss-big.jpg ) - blingfinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know about anyone else, but every time I try to view a buried comment, the comment disappears when the box is finished sliding out. IE7 still is funky with some sites I've been visiting. It's too bad not enough people take opera into consideration when designing sites. I just tried Opera 9 and I really enjoyed it, unfortunately the only developer bar paled in comparison to FF's and quite a few sites were out of wack.
- chandrasonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3diggnationdevon : You are supposed to read the comments.

"This beta does not install on Windows Vista Beta 2; a new version of IE7+ in Windows Vista will be available with the next public Windows Vista release soon." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You have to go to control panel/add remove programs/ then check the little box at the top that says "show updates"/ THEN uninstall it.
