  • inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Im a leecher and I dont care who knows it. Why shouldnt I?. Most of the times my upload speeds are at 40+k while I download at 8-20K. As I speak the only file I have is uploading at43kb/s but downloading at 10kb/s. My sharing is done 10 minutes after I finish getting the file and thats it.

  • dexp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a leecher, I don't want to be a leecher. Unfortunately my (Australian) Cable provider allows me a 10GB combined upload/download limit, after which my speed is slowed to 64kbps for the remainder of the month.

    Until my contract runs out (in 2006), and I can switch to ADSL 2, I stuck as a leecher. Sorry
  • Chimichanga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My problem with keeping ratio's high is insightbb's poor upload speed. Set to unlimited the highest I can get is around 44kbs but at that point it becomes a drag to do any sort of work on the internet, so it's halved during the day.
  • ryan00davis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1while i dont like that i have to do it, but i often do have to leech, and there is a real excuse.... cox cable (san diego) limits my upload to 6 gigs per month, and if you break it three times, you get kicked off for good. ive broken it twice. but still i try to do my best with getting as close as possible to that number. i cant wait to move and get off of cox

  • FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to limit my upload or else it kills my download, im on a fairly limited upload for my cable, but being a leecher sucks. I think there should be one massive service that makes it so you have to at least have a high ratio or some downloads wont go for you. iknow there are alot of those communities around.

    One of my Gummi Bears season torrents is at a ratio of 25:1 right now. It was at 12:1 before I had to reformat. So, I've shared at nearly a 40:1 ratio with a multi-gig file (and I'm sharing 10 other old TV torrents like that right now :)

    Down/Up: 2.47GB/8.01GB
    Granted, I'm sharing old TV shows and not warez or current shows, I have a desire to spread the nostalgia, so I keep sharing a while. Shows like Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Family Guy (Guy Family) I share to about 1:1 and then take it off, so that I'm not increasing my suability ;)

As an evolutionary psychologist / zoologist I find this article fascinating. I will probably use it in one of my classes in the fall.
