- op12, on 07/14/2009, -3/+17The article on one page:
http://www.maximumpc.com/print/6992 - ameilaearhart, on 07/14/2009, -2/+11Great Article. I didn't realize that Live Sync can let you turn your PC into a file server, good stuff.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -2/+10Get your gay ***** blog spam off this ***** and stop copying people's articles, ass.
- Beatmiser, on 07/14/2009, -6/+13I'm going to get dugg down for this I have a feeling, but I just use MobileMe at this point, it costs a bit but between 3 machines and an iPhone I couldn't be happier.

- justinbkerr, on 07/14/2009, -1/+7If the article belongs to Gadgetpaper, then why is my name (Justin Kerr) shown in many of the screen shots?
I wrote the article for MaxPC, and our legal team is dealing with Gadgetpaper, accept no substitutes. - StuartGibson, on 07/14/2009, -4/+9Yeah, if you don't mind being tied into the Apple ecosystem (which I don't) it really is one of the most seamless solutions out there. After the initial bumpy start I never even think about where I enter contacts or calendar entries anymore.
- darkzealot89, on 07/14/2009, -2/+6RTFA, it is about trying to avoid having to lug around a Hard Drive or USB Drive. But thanks for playing!
Seamless and immediate sync across computers and devices > All External Hard Drives - infamousacid, on 07/14/2009, -2/+6Hmmm, Some good sync options here for Mac's and PCs. Kinda strange seeing Mac tips on Maximum PC, but I like it!
- explodingzebras, on 07/15/2009, -0/+3no it isn't Mesh doin the work, Dropbox syncs files/folders between all machines that have it installed. This occurs over the net but also may soon sync over LAN if the files syncing over computers on a LAN.
- Obamaminator, on 07/14/2009, -5/+8Very pro article, full of useful info.
- pitdog, on 07/14/2009, -3/+5Live Mesh is pretty useful.
- backwardscompat, on 07/26/2009, -2/+4Some how he's the ignorant one? Hmm, let's see, the one you posted was done so... Today! Fancy that? Boy, I must say, your case for a stolen article is airtight.
- miketowninc, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2I just switched from dropbox to syncplicity. ;) Much happier!
- digitaldivinci, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2I love Dropbox. It also have a very easy way to create a shared folder and share it with other dropbox users for collaboration.
- Brak710101, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2Sorry, I couldn't read your comment because my eyes were bombarded with retardation around the same time.
Funny, isn't it? - jmvallejo, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Good stuff, i also recommend dropbox (www.getdropbox.com). Still it's mostly useful for computers, not all kinds of gadgets. It'd be nice if there were something more multimedia related, compatible with iphone and ipod, but i guess it's difficult because of the exclusive access to the device by one single itunes.
- yocouchdigga, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2there is much win here.
- glinsvad, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1What's so hard about "rsync --archive --delete --delete-delay --stats --hard-links --executability --itemize-changes /src /dst" ? Well, I'm more a script-it-once kinda guy. I'll bet somebody has ported grsyc to windows though
- Barackalypse, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1What's up with the arbitrary data size and file count limits in these applications, specifically Live Mesh and Live Sync?
- przemeklach, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2I've been using this for about 6 months now and it's been solid. At home I work on my desktop and on the road I'm on my laptop. I don't even have to think about syncing anything once mesh is setup. I just do my work and save it and it's all done automatically. It's also very easy to share folders with other people. Definately recommend it.
- Beatmiser, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3The best way I've found to do this is to *add* your google calendar to your Calendar using the built in subscription tools. Then mobileme just syncs with your calendar.
Trick is though you have to remember to share your Google Calendar. - Nobiting, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3Do you know how to integrate Google Calendar with MobileMe?
- AWBoy666, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3I've been using Live Sync since a long time before MS bought Foldershare. AMAZING software. I can't understand how MS doesn't invest more into it.
Heck, I remember when there was a Linux Foldershare client! That was awesome. - inactive, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2What's up with Dropbox having "no automated sync tool"? It uploads to Dropbox's server and downloads to all your linked computers. That seems automatic to me.
- explodingzebras, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1Well with dropbox you can work around that by using symlinks/shortcuts to other folders.
- bardo, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2Check out SuperSync for merging multiple iTunes/iPod libraries.
http://supersync.com - Mudcrutch, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3Read the article. It explains multiple options (some free.) It also shows MobileMe.
- Jaymoon, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1I love SugarSync. Being able to just sync any folder is great. I have at least 5 different machines syncing different folders to and from.
I liked Dropbox for Linux support, but having everything in one directory annoyed me. With a shared folder, SugarSync can easily be useful with a Windows + Linux environment, and a linux client for SugarSync is supposedly in the works anyway.
I know having a price tag is what might keep people away or even trying it. But I am very satisfied, and it's something that I feel is worth paying for after the trial ends. - Jaymoon, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1For those using Google's own Mobile Sync, I would suggest you try Nuevasync instead. Google apparently keeps renaming my contacts (Last, First) which is the format I can't stand.
Last time I tried Google's Mobile Sync it would only sync my default calendar. Well Nuevasync supports multiple calendars, even with a free account. The pro version is nice too if you want Push Gmail to your phone.
http://www.nuevasync.com/ - trebol, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1two words: rsync & jungledisk
- se7envii, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2pwned!
- glinsvad, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1You can't beat rsync and openssh in terms of flexibility and scripting possibilities though. It comes for windows in cwrsync, which is a packaging of cygwin and rsync. Great for syncing devices over wifi or for maintaining network drives.
- Nobiting, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2I'll try that out, thanks!
- inactive, on 07/29/2009, -0/+1conduit and funambol (or nuevasync) works for me . i've been kinda curious to try out system7 ( http://community.seven.com/forum/main.php )
- magnet14, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Synchronize pr0n across ALL your devices!
- unrealmp3, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1For files, I go with DropBox. For Firefox settings, Weave is my choice.
http://labs.mozilla.com/projects/weave/ - belfastbiker2, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Agreed. Whether it's syncing or uploading, iphone, web, PC or Mac, it's sublime. Got i for the instant email, loved all the other features after that.
It's worth every cent. - cyberskier, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1I prefer Lastpass for passwod sync.
- magnet14, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Mesh uses a cloud (another server), so it must have some limits ;)
- AWBoy666, on 07/14/2009, -2/+2Until you lose it or it corrupts. Live means I have my home desktop, laptop, and work desktop all continuously syncing my pictures, documents, and music. I open iTunes on any of them and instantly have all my playlists (just sync your music folder). Not to mention I could have two hard drives fail and not lose a single file.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -1/+1I was eating a cherry dilly bar typing with one hand. I think the guy who wrote this article was typing with one hand, too.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -2/+2You've got to be ***** me. There wee more typos in that article than in my 2nd grader's latest story about butterflies and rainbows.
- DarkShroud, on 07/14/2009, -1/+1That's Live Mesh doing the work not Dropbox.
- DangerCollie, on 07/14/2009, -2/+2Those are good suggestions, although I'd add Google Voice to the Google Apps tools. I just got in on the beta, it's the neatest app they offer. Integrate your telephony and mobile messages with Gmail. Sweet.
- jdames1980, on 07/14/2009, -3/+3Likewise. The syncing is the main reason I use it. With 2 macs at home, one at work and an iPhone it is indispensible.
- explodingzebras, on 07/15/2009, -1/+1You can get more storage on Dropbox when you accept referrals:)
https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTExNDA2NjY5
..and for referring others, I have 2250mb atm. - XTomTomX, on 07/15/2009, -0/+0Stop following me, please.
