* {display: none !important} - davidwasman, on 03/15/2008, -3/+19As stated by the presenter in the video, some of us have jackass moron friends who insist on using it for blogging or whatever.

The plug in he speaks of... I love it - pjfcpan, on 03/15/2008, -0/+12Wow. It looks like I've just been dugg, and the response has been overwhelming! I'm glad you all like the talk.
To give you a bit of background, this talk was given at the lightning talk session at linux.conf.au 2008, where it won "best lightning talk". I took the audio of my talk, edited in the slides, and posted it to youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hghpuxCHTc (as well as my blog). It looks like it's been distributed a fair bit since then. ;)
Given the response has been so favourable, I'll try to get some more of my material on-line. When that happens it will almost certainly be posted at http://pjf.id.au/blog/ .
Thanks again for all the feedback,
Paul - TheKrillr, on 03/15/2008, -4/+15Um.,... *****? I love firefox under Mac OS X. Especially Firefox 3...
What's your problem with it? - seanthebond, on 03/15/2008, -5/+14I'm going to take a shot in the dark and presume you're new here?
- davidwasman, on 03/15/2008, -2/+11I use greasemonkey combined with Stylish and I don't even have the bars on top or bottom of MySpaz.
And Digg is all Dark grey. - hyankov, on 03/15/2008, -1/+10Learn to AdBlockPlus...

- soden240, on 03/15/2008, -0/+8Hmm maybe he was trying to impress the Leggy Blonde from tech support.
- davidwasman, on 03/15/2008, -1/+9Stylish does.. I have nested comments, cool effects, and more. Plus i can designate any color I want them to be.,
- TheKrillr, on 03/15/2008, -3/+10im unsure how a rickroll can fix the web.
is there a way to get greasemonkey to auto-identify rickrolls? ;-) - jackyyll, on 03/15/2008, -0/+7MORE DOTS!!
Haha, he kind of does sound like that guy..
But seriously, i really enjoyed his speech. Funny and informative. - inactive, on 03/15/2008, -2/+9where is the "stupid comment" remover plugin?
- Whaines, on 03/15/2008, -1/+7Tinyurl doesn't count, sir, try again.

- ilikesboobs, on 03/15/2008, -0/+5Pretty awesome! I've been using WebDeveloper tool bar and AdBlock Plus to do the same thing. Very useful for text ads and such !
For anyone wondering, the AdBlock filter for elements is:
#*(elementname) - use * for any element name
#div(elementname) - or you can specify
google.com#div(elementname) - to restrict to certain sites
If you want more options here you will find the rules for writing filters:
http://adblockplus.org/en/filters - davidwasman, on 03/15/2008, -2/+6http://myspacide.ytmnd.com/
- Johnnyp1231, on 03/15/2008, -0/+4Flight of the Conchords is amazing.
- Silentnite85, on 03/15/2008, -0/+4So. Bunch of stuff. Thanks.
- Jenadae, on 03/15/2008, -1/+5did i ever mention i hate digg?
- fixty, on 03/15/2008, -1/+4!!shameless plug(in) warning!!
I wrote a greasemonkey script to fully maximize google calendar for my EEE pc:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/21376
(works on non-eee pc's too) - wright3279, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3An easier extension to use to get rid of unwanted content that regularly shows on a page is the Firefox extension called Remove It Permanently.
- HonoredMule, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3Likewise.
When I check back at my comments, seeing a 2 on my rating doesn't mean a whole lot. Seeing -12 +13 tells me I've been noticed and my comment was (apparently) controversial. For those of us who treat Digg as a social experiment, that's invaluable information. - einfeldt, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3Dugg because I got belly laughs out of this video. Even if you are not a geek, you should watch this video. You will get it. He amazingly manages to both be really funny and really entertaining in only 3 minutes.
- castleking, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3mmmmm copy pasta.
- wilf_brim, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3Who is this guy? He is ***** brilliant! "MySpace for antisocial fascist bastards." Clearly, my kind of person.
- PixelD, on 03/15/2008, -2/+5I was thinking more of the 50 DKP MINUS! guy
- pjfcpan, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3These are the slides used for the presentation at linux.conf.au 2008 synchronised and attached to the audio of the same event. You can get a video of the real presentation from http://lca2008.linux.org.au/programme/presentation ... (see "Lightning talks" on Friday), but the greasemonkey talk is right at the end (after many other talks), and the file is both large (about 200MB) and in Ogg Theora format.

I wouldn't use digg with out this grease monkey gem
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/11578 - mab0111, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3i figured this was on youtube somewhere. the video this story links was uploaded yesterday, and nearly immediately picked up to submit to digg. This is at least the second 5min.com video today too with the same problem.
- mikesbaker, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3what he is talking about:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/11578
and yes it is the greatest - Verdanic, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2It's funny, I was talking about that the other day with somebody and came to the conclusion that *even if* MySpace dove into the most drastic redevelopment ever, basically turning it into a whole new website, I would probably still resist even though I loved the new site. It's unrecoverable. Just a matter of straining out the last of the intelligent people on there that have small reasons for doing so, leaving it to be the ***** that it is.
