- berlancoboy, on 08/19/2008, -1/+13Google leaves Digg at the alter... and chooses "self-gratification" on social bookmarking.
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -3/+14Yes more big brother Google watching me that's what I want! I don' t like privacy @ all!
- bstory, on 08/19/2008, -2/+11Google won't be happy until it controls everything.
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -0/+7Really, everything you do is already seen, Google indexes everything we do here in seconds. Just search the title of any of your Digg posts and it is on Google is seconds.
It is a good thing for our profiles. - inactive, on 08/19/2008, -0/+7Build vs Buy. Digg at $200M was way overpriced. It's not like Google needs a customer list.
- Wulffy, on 08/19/2008, -1/+7Most interesting part: "But what the heck is Google doing with this?" - Read it carefully.
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -2/+7This is huge news, the beginning of Google social bookmarking. Really good news for Digg since it integrates nicely with our friends feeds and every time we favorite or share a Digg post Google reader will create a back link to our profile when we share the item in Google Reader.
My friends and I have been watching this closely and it even integrates into MyBlogLog. Every time I share an item in Google Reader MyBlogLog picks it up and shares it with my MyBlogLog contacts, creating another link into my Digg profile. Just makes it easier to follow friends and ups or profiles power and PR.
This is an easy way to share with friends and not have to shout stuff:] - tsitneics, on 08/20/2008, -2/+7So when will Google get me a girlfriend?
- merlin484, on 08/19/2008, -1/+5how deliciously useful!
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -1/+4Anything that creates links to our Diggs is cool with me
- brickmarketing, on 08/19/2008, -1/+4This is only the start, it should be interesting to see if Google uses this information their search ranking algorithm...
- borez, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3It will never control my pear tree... I am the master of that
- homesqua, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3I'm afraid that Google Date is still in Alpha...
- Diggopolis, on 08/21/2008, -0/+2This isn't just a Google Social Bookmarking system, it looks more like a Total Social Experience. Take a good look at it, what is being reported is only a part of what Google is doing. You have Gmail and it's IM client, you have a chat client, Google tested a Digglike interface for voting and commenting, you have the bookmarking aspects, and you even have a blogging service and webpage service. If Google puts this all together, they cover just about everything the Social Networker needs and want.
- SimplyD, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3I'm most interested in the effect it will have on rankings and authority sites. Great article.
- SethsSource, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Google wants it all but you have to admit they are pretty darned smart.
- synystar, on 08/19/2008, -2/+4It won't be long before the generic term "Internet" is replaced with "Google".
"Whatcha doing man?" "Nada ... just browsing the Google." "Searching for something?" "Uh, no...I'm just browsing it." - stutimandal, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Just tried google reader after a year. It is awesome. Thanks for reminding me that this service exists and has improved.
One thing worth noting, the speed of google reader far surpasses the speed of Digg. There is a definite wait time of few seconds at Digg. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Great site, don't stop with just reading this article.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2I hope that doesn't make the handful of intelligent people left on digg leave :(
- dinxcarin, on 08/20/2008, -1/+2try googling my life
- borez, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1@sockpuppets: Ducked and covered
- synystar, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Up to a minute at times. I have to check other sites to make sure I'm still connected. Every other site comes up immediately... but I'm still waiting for Digg to load a page. But I love Digg and I understand growing pains. One day I'll realize that I was so used to doing other things while waiting that I hadn't noticed it got faster. This is the way technology works.
- nachase, on 08/19/2008, -2/+3Very interesting development! We'll be watching closely to see how this unfolds. Whenever Google does anything like this the pot gets stirred up... Respectfully, Nicholas www.donotreadthisblogunless.blogspot.com
- sockpuppets, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Apple just released the iPartridge. You're doomed.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1how do you know it's overpriced or is that a FEELING you have somewhere?
- drivinryan, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Wow so many choices to use with Google. What is a person to do? How many ways can someone come up with to search? I have to say I am impressed.
- brangan, on 08/20/2008, -1/+2I like the hunger in Google. It is so inspiring.
- tourbeau, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1:)very useful
- mikedub1219, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1hooray for corporate masturbation
- Valeriu, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Good article, let's see what is happening in the near future. Google always surprise me...
- guruette, on 08/20/2008, -1/+2I think in some instances it will really HELP some of us! I love the MyBlogLog connection and the DIGG connection. If we all use it to our own advantage...more power to it...or should I say more power to Google?
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -2/+2Kevin Rose is sending in his bury squad... QUICK NERDS...ATTACK ...I mean CLICK CLICK CLICK
- roxgod666, on 08/20/2008, -1/+1ohh google how you spoil me
- twoofmyfriends, on 08/19/2008, -3/+2Google is pretty desperate for complete internet monopoly.
- mrcuseman, on 08/19/2008, -2/+1wow this was definitely the first i heard of this...Google does not want you to use anybody's products except for theirs!
- sockpuppets, on 08/20/2008, -2/+1I put on my robe and wizard hat.

What is Digg?
