- akinbanjo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13> Look at all these losers modding us down. What a bunch of bitches.
No no, you don't understand. If the majority of people here are digging you down, it's cos YOU'RE the losers. And by your definition, a bitch. So good luck with that. :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Try PodStrike! Podcast Manager. http://www.podstrike.com You can sign up for free and no bandwith restrictions.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Their prices are okay, but yes, trying to actually do anything at their site is an excecise in total frustration.
- Funkly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5HTTP://libsyn.com there is no better... limit is on the upload, not on the download.. unlimitied bandwidth good stats, free RSS.. beats all other hands down.
- SilentSpyder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Godaddy is offering an easy podcasting solution. That in itself is news.
- kazzyD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Well let's see. It's new, it's news, it's technology software... Sounds digg worthy to me!"
Amen... I'm always amazed at the diggers who take the time to make the oft repeated this-isn't-my-thing comment. Great. Thanks for sharing. Why not use that same energy and digg what you like... - Funkly, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6a month or year for the terabyte? My podcast goes thru terabyteS of bandwidth a month...
i think libsyn still has the best deal in town - joshfraz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6godaddy sucks. i've been forced to use their hosting for a couple projects at work and i swear they have the most convoluted user interface I have ever seen!
- kyote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's an ICANN thing, not a godaddy policy. they're just following the rules. know what your talking about before you start bashing.
- saska, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4In self-defense, I dugg this simply to keep track of the links in the comments. :P
- striker1211, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Careful, if you have more than 100 listeners they will probably tell you to use bittorrent when your downloads start dying..
http://digg.com/tech_news/The_Truth_About_GoDaddy_s_Economy_(5GB_250GB)_Plan - stevesbones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the fact is that everyone has different hosting needs and preferences, find the one that is good for you and once your needs expand or change then switch to someone who fits those needs. No reason to argue over the best services. Be cool everyone.
- Minos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Heh, posted this under the wrong comment. Here we go again.
Very true. Conformity is a big part of Digg. Either go with the niche flow, or be the community's bitch. God forbid you have a differing opinion. And watch your corn-hole if you even think of defending your opinion, else someone's gonna call you a loser. - podsafegear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use Godaddy for my domains, for their pricing, then transfer them to my mwsmedia site. I store my files on Libsyn for the unlimited bandwidth. I use wordpress as my front end, and Podpress for my podcast. Works great! I have had problems with various services, so nobody is perfect.
- mrsharkattack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1libsyn is still the best!
- AlmostaGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats not a very good deal!! They need to give a lot more bandwidth!!
- findhostcoupons, on 03/15/2009, -0/+1Go Daddy is my favourite domain name company! Good story man!
- brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yup, i agree. libsyn is the best.(how do they pay for all the bandwidth!)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@citrusfizz
No, you can't. DreamHost doesn't use dedicated servers, which SHOUTcast requires. I was kinda bummed about that, too. - kman2k1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's the link to the GoDaddy page:
https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/pod/landing.asp?se=%2B&ci=6644
No mention of video podcasts. - Rott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder if they are going to force the podcasters they pay to advertise for them to switch from libsyn to their new service. Should be interesting to see.
- geardosdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2One of my friends was charged 200$ and they refused to transfer his domain because they claimed a user spammed through his site (false). He had to threaten legal action to get the domain transfered to a another host. This was a business, so it was essential that it work. I don't trust Godaddy after this.
- Nation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1not a smart trick ... once you comment in the article it shows up in your comment history.
saska, you made a mistake, now go undigg it.
nutcase, you need to listen to more tricks. - haltse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You may find that the no transfer in 60 days is a registry requirement and not that of the registrar.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41) The code is super777. Takes $97 off your bill.
2) This is stupid. Why pay extra money for GoDaddy to give you podcasting services? It's just toying with some RSS. It's not like podcasting is some magnificant form of media. It's simply having an RSS reader check a specific feed and downloading updates. - neoform, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Does godaddy suspend your account and charge you a $199 'clean up fee' if you say bad things about bob parsons ?
- vishusdelishus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Godaddy is too cheap, beware the catch...like not being able to transfer domains for 60 days after updating the frickin whois info. No foolin.
- rkuchiki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11) Why can't articles like this ever link to the damn product or service they are talking about?
2) GoDaddy's site does not mention anything about licensing, so their "Podcasting" service is just like standard web hosting. If I was to join a "Podcasting" service, I would like ASCAP/BMI licensing included, especially if you are going to advertise it as "everything you need to podcast!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yep... that's why this one is pretty cool. No bandwith restrictions. I have a free account for some rinky dinky stuff but then I got the profesional account for all my video. Pretty slick.
http://www.digg.com/tech_news/Discover_the_All_New_PodStrike_Podcast_Manager - damndj, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Well let's see. It's new, it's news, it's technology software... Sounds digg worthy to me! Dugg.
- Himself, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"backed" by GoDaddy's HIDDEOUS tech "support" "service"
- Himself, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0because its NON-passive, pre-recorded, LOW bitrate internet-ized audio "broadcasting"?
Gee, why wouldn't something like that catch on? - citrusfizz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1do you know if you can set up a shoutcast server with dreamhost?
- nutcase, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1smartist trick I have heard on DIGG, thanks.
- mrpta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0To me, pod casting is a bit of a short-term fad. Even the Apple fan in me finds it hard to get hooked. Mainly because there are very few quality ones out there.
- bobgb4, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4indeed it does suck... i prefer 1and1.com
- gmillerd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Maybe in Tech Deals, but I dont see the software story here unless they have some integrated app or what not.
- Vizin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0The TB is monthly for Dreamhost.
They oversell though... - Minos, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Very true. Conformity is a big part of Digg. Either go with the niche flow, or be the community's bitch. God forbid you have a differing opinion. And watch your corn-hole if you even think of defending your opinion, else someone's gonna call you a loser.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2Uh...dreamhost code 777. 1 year of hosting , a terabyte of bandwidth and 20 gigs or so of space, for 10 bucks. Oh..and a free domain. woot.
- bobgb4, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1yup
- ReadMeTXT, on 10/12/2007, -18/+6Not digg worthy
- krivetsky, on 10/12/2007, -14/+0True
