- ZogDog, on 01/28/2009, -15/+62Wow, email while offline... who the crap is offline?!
- dekuscrub, on 01/28/2009, -0/+34Maybe you're using your laptop on the bus or something on the way to work... lots of possibilities.
Jus sayin'. - TyrannousDotNet, on 01/28/2009, -3/+21for when your not online.
- daengbo, on 01/28/2009, -1/+13The quote about GMail being in beta for business users is FUD. It's not. The Premier Edition ToS is completely different from the Free Edition ToS.

At the time of posting...CNET DIGG pointer shows 171 DIGGS, DIGG.com shows 114 DIGGS... - DarkredDragon, on 07/07/2009, -4/+13Gmail rocks 7289 MBs of online email storage for FREE how can you beat that and now we can view our emails offline makes it a 20/10 ;)
- MrGaw, on 01/28/2009, -3/+12Flaky Connection Mode, useful for "poaching a neighbor's weak-signal wireless network".
I guess this could be helpful to get past your ISP's bandwidth limits if you have A LOT of emails to download. - spraveenitpro, on 01/28/2009, -0/+7Great for taking Gmail to work where it is banned!!!
- gladding, on 01/28/2009, -0/+7you've never wanted to check your email on the plane?
- Jisan, on 01/28/2009, -2/+7Big boost to gmail feature list. Although, i would still prefer IMAP for the offline support.
- jmill987, on 01/28/2009, -1/+6Laptops when not at home, people with dial-up...
- P1um, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5really, no
- bigdoof, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5Gmail will sync once you get back online, so you can draft emails, apply labels, delete, etc. and it'll all get updated when you find an internet connection again. I can't even count how many times I've wanted to refer to a specific email on my Gmail account, but couldn't reach it because I've been traveling and away from a public wifi location. Same goes for drafting emails on a plane while wishing I had the ability to view previous correspondence and attachments.
But judging by your posts, you're just trying to be snarky and not really looking for a real answer. - fabio1, on 01/28/2009, -2/+7and crappy advertising on the bottom of every message you send. yay!
- rakeshishere, on 01/28/2009, -1/+5This was in outlook since ages... Nothing new but its right now available in your browser
- pw378, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4blasphemy! Trash! Yak crap!
- gbhall, on 01/28/2009, -1/+4No. It's Digg, what do you expect? It's an almost perfect dupe:
http://digg.com/tech_news/Gmail_grows_up_with_offl ... - inactive, on 01/28/2009, -1/+4for some reason, my laptop get CRAP wifi reception so i think it might be good, but don't we need to be online when signing in?
- WickEd101, on 01/28/2009, -1/+4Offline e-mail has been popular before, but as people adopted an always-on connection to the Internet, the requirements for it changed. So Google isn't really innovating in this regard, more adding cool features.
But thankyou for spamming your blog to us :D - kr3mliyn, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3You already CAN use IMAP with any email client that supports it. Check your settings!
- colonelxc, on 01/28/2009, -1/+4How is babby formed?
- theRed, on 01/28/2009, -2/+5Sucks that it's not in Canada at the moment. I could use this a lot in those classrooms where I don't get a great signal.
- df95171, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3Great, already use Docs and Reader offline. Now I'm only waiting for Calendar as well.
Hope you get an option to go offline, downloading just some emails so that you wont need to download your complete archive. - natenovs, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2yes. theyre called categories and you can group and sort by them
- spraveenitpro, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2by unplugging from the network.
- rakeshishere, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2you mean Folders?
- vdogg89, on 01/28/2009, -1/+3lemme take a wild guess....maybe when your away from your connection?
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2People must have downs.
Opera and Thunderbird have been able to do this for awhile now.
With multiple e-mail accounts. Not just GMAIL. - 2Six119, on 09/10/2009, -1/+3Sweet.
- colonelxc, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2Well... It'll probably only be a subset of emails... unless you want to cache 7GB of emails on your hard drive.
- moothemagiccow, on 01/28/2009, -1/+3oh mang your work sucks
- stockjones, on 01/28/2009, -1/+3What's the big deal so they have a local client piece that lets you look at your email like a client email app. I can just use something like thunderbird and do the same thing.
- Rememberthe0511, on 01/28/2009, -2/+3How is this growing up again?
- natenovs, on 01/28/2009, -1/+2@fabio1 if you use the offline client there are no ads appended to your outgoing mail.
@soave compelling argument. - Elranzer, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1Hmm, that one has the "2" at the end of it...
- norz, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1Explanation here: http://groups.google.com/group/gmail-labs-help-off ...
- DjArcadian, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1Not really. I have years of email and it has never slowed down Gmail. The only time I've seen Gmail run slowly is when I'll expand an entire email conversation which contains a lot of picture attachments. It generates thumbnails which slows it down.
- ACiDGRiM, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1It jumps for me too in FX 305
- vdogg89, on 01/28/2009, -5/+6I love google
- pw378, on 01/28/2009, -1/+2outlook has labels?
- pw378, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1No. You can have a gmail interface, gmail search capabilities, and your gmail labels with a POP client.
- vdogg89, on 01/28/2009, -2/+3really? you can't spare a whopping 7 gigs IF that?
- Soave, on 01/28/2009, -4/+5Hotmail's pretty gay. Yahoo sucks. Gmail owns.
- chetanthaker, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1So when will the rest of the folks get access ? I know of some email addicts who still haven't got the Labs feature in their GMail yet
- tomgc, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1Now, that's a tricky question. Offline people can't answer ;)
- specialK16, on 01/28/2009, -1/+2ooooohhhh Apple! It's shiny!!!!
