- jenel, on 10/10/2007, -7/+140#11 - IMAP?
- RevJonathan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+67More like #1 IMAP
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -2/+47Oh la-dee-dah. Not all of us have the cash for COLOR monitors, OK? Next thing, you'll be suggesting that there be sound cues for incoming mail, as if we all have DSP cards with speaker output.
- NyteStarNyne, on 10/10/2007, -1/+451. Turn On/Off the Threaded View
2. Archive Function
3. Multiple Account Options
4. Make Attachments Quicker
5. Option to View Message from Inbox
6. Sorting Options
7. To-Do List
8. More Emails in Search Results
9. More Emails in Inbox
10. A “Never Spam” Option - Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -4/+36***** list. IMAP should be #1, and nearly all the features listed are available with a basic e-mail client logging into Gmail (like Thunderbird).
Bring IMAP, Google, like you've been 'considering' for so long! - vollmus, on 10/10/2007, -8/+402. Archive Function
It's called POP, moron. - hrtattx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30like someone said in the comments on that page, COLOR. themes. something.
- stalefries, on 10/10/2007, -1/+29You can get email from other accounts via POP3, and then set up Gmail to pretend it's emailing from those accounts. Is that what you wanted? You can even select which account to send from.
- stalefries, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31Some comments:
#3: as I said in my comment above in reply to jkharris07 (#c9371503), you actually can access multiple accounts from one Gmail account (even non-Gmail accounts). Look around in your settings (I can't remember exactly where it is).
#6: why don't you try searching by sender AND whether it has an attachment?
#7: a Todo, while a nice feature, would better fit in gcal. - jkharris07, on 10/10/2007, -9/+35I would like to see multiple accounts incorporated into Gmail.
- DMDekoth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20The blurry screenshots really help get the point across.
- Chaostician, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17It's really easy to get your gmail account to forward all your emails to another address. Just go to "settings" and then "forwarding and POP." I have three gmail addresses that all forward to the same inbox. It's unnecessary to sign out and back in each time you want to check a different email address.
- masterthiefster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18#4: I may be wrong, but I think that's technologically impossible. The way I understand it, the upload input type only allows one path at a time.
High on my list would be support for tabbed browsers' middle-click functionality so I can open multiple conversations at once. Right now it just performs whatever task is associated with the wheel. - RonAcierno, on 02/07/2008, -0/+14Gears
- Billiam627, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16I'm not sure if its a Gmail thing or an Apple thing, but I REALLY want push gmail for my iphone. Hopefully if it is a gmail thing it will be forthcoming.
- Raiku, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13#0 IMAP
#11 Auto Delete Spam
#12 Note-To-Self - pastasauce, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10The biggest problem I have with GMail in it's current state is the attachment system. I don't really care about how long it takes in adding the files. The most annoying thing is when you attach a file, click send, wait for it to upload to the server, and find out it's too large. They should check the file size before it uploads, eliminating pointless load times.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10If they put IMAP on I wouldn't care about anything else.
- tliu9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Once you add other email accounts, you can even reply/compose from the other email addresses. I have it set up so that by default, I reply using the same address that the email was sent to.
- spynovel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Because you're clicking on them. Don't.
- nathanwalker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9A keyboard shortcut for "mark all selected as read"? i hate having to click twice...once on more optionsm then mark as read...
- cybe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8export picture attachments to picasa webalbums
- Jrr6415sun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I was in a research group last month at google, and they showed me a gmail iphone application that looked amazing... now if it's actually going to come to the iphone, or some type of google like phone, I don't know...
- resplence, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Yeah but when you receive email sent under a redirected account, in Outlook you get a header saying something like "[redirected account] in the name of [real account]", or something. And that's very undesirable sometimes.
- Frost9999, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Spam is auto-deleted after a certain amount of days.
Note-to-self is as simple as writing yourself an email.
I want IMAP too. - kelpdip, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Google has a great translation service, and a great email service. Am I the only one that wishes they were integrated?
- elyobelyob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I want the contacts app to be inmproved. That could do with some serious work.
- lifenstein, on 05/30/2009, -0/+7To auto-delete spam, so that the spam count is always zero (no bold 'Spam' label), create a filter and use 'is:spam' in the 'containing words' section (You'll get a warning, saying that the condition will never be met; just click OK) and set the action to 'delete'. Then on, all spams will automatically be sent to Trash.
- Ozeki, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7For the geeks out there:
Infinity + 1 = Aleph One - ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8gPine?
- trowduk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8that's what the "Labels" do, basically. I sort my e-mail in that way. create a label for emails from a particular mailing list and then use a filter to apply the label and skip the inbox...voila, it's in a "folder". and you can always move other emails to a given label by just using the "apply label" feature
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7For all you I-want-notez people: do you really think there could be any fewer clicks involved in an integrated notes function than with the current obvious solution: sending yourself an email?
- mucnix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6No, he's saying you fail at sarcasm.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Give each user their own log in account to the pc.
- BenWang, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Has Google even officially considered IMAP? I get the impression they don't want to. Neither are there any rumblings of IMAP on any of the unofficial blogs reporting on Google.
So far this seems to be the official word:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en ... - etandrib, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Select All > Mark as Read.
Do I need to write anything else? - george2gfm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5search by attachment size
- flickerbrain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Damn, you beat me to the reply. And the really easy way to do this is with Thunderbird, all you do is click add account, click _Gmail_ and enter your email address and password, then Presto!, Your Gmail is on your hard drive....after a few minutes of downloading from that massive inbox.
- alwaysnomadic, on 11/18/2008, -0/+5Integration & Synchronisation
Contacts, Calendar - over the air sync with mobile (priority)
Contacts, Calendar & Docs - PC/Mac sync (should be)
Better integration between between Mail/Contacts & Calendar/Docs - TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5That would make sense ONLY if they didn't support POP access.
- CzarDominus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Damn you.
- toggo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Using the better Gmail extension for Firefox allows you to upload as many files as you want, at the same time, by dragging them onto the upload link.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4and create a notes filter for emails from yourself ;)
- disc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Where the hell is the 'mark as read' action in the filters already?
- adooga, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I like the old gmail, not this new gmale.
- saifatlast, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4If I send an e-mail from my g-mail account as my work account, it appears as "[saifatlast]@gmail.com on behalf of [saifatlast]@work.com", which is bad, because then my boss gripes at me.
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4He's saying that you're an uncouth moron.
- hotlunch, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9I know Google says "Search not Sort", but I still like to sort. A Create Folders option for organization would be nice.
- d3faultnet, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8my response:
1. i don't mind it. compose a new message if you want to break off
2. access your email from a pop3 client (outlook?) and save it that way
3. have all your other ones forward to the same gmail address; set up filters to label them accordingly. finally, go to Settings -> Accounts -> Add Another Email Address... do that for each of your other accounts.
4. name 1 site that does it differently. it's most likely a restriction in firefox / ie.
5. now you're just crying... it's possible but who cares. open a new damn window with another copy of gmail running.
6. see above, but opening another copy of gmail won't help
7. Google Calendar.... and yes, it will even send you email reminders
8. meh. don't care. crybaby
9. see above
10. why are you reading spam? loser. also, you can press "Not Spam" on the emails... though i don't think that will cover future ones... add the email address to your contacts list and it will NEVER go to your spam folder - edzilla, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Unfortunately, they don't have a retard->english translation engine.
