done. - Louis11, on 04/30/2008, -9/+40Or . . . just install firefox.
- intrktevo, on 04/30/2008, -2/+32If you're required to use IE, you most likely don't have the ability to install anything mentioned in this article.
- NyteStarNyne, on 04/30/2008, -2/+24*6.) Make Firefox Default Browser
done. - inactive, on 04/30/2008, -10/+28Why does this remind me of the Microsoft article titled: "How to uninstall Linux and install Windows"?
- kenok, on 04/30/2008, -1/+167.) Delete all IE icons from the desktop and quick launch toolbar.
- aywwts4, on 04/30/2008, -4/+16Open source = code that you can read and recompile.
If I were wanting pure stability I would go for opera, that is a closed source and very stable browser, more stable than any modern Firefox distribution out there. Personaly I prefer Firefox for non-stability reasons and it is my primary browser. - Murdats, on 04/30/2008, -8/+19Run Firefox
Install IE Tab
I do web development, IE tab is awesome. - Dustmuffins, on 04/30/2008, -1/+12I hear they both render web pages.
- estvir, on 04/30/2008, -4/+13Security? Does FF have a Protected Mode equivalent yet? Cross-domain checking? Always visible address bar? International character alert? Parental Controls? And so on.'
By the way, I'm not saying FF isn't secure or IE7 is more secure. I'm saying IE7 to some degree is secure/safe and even has prominent security features FF - gettarat, on 04/30/2008, -6/+15I doubt if IE would ever become even slightly similar to FF.
- Makaveli604, on 04/30/2008, -1/+9they both have tabs
slightly similar, gg - shankarganesh, on 04/30/2008, -1/+8who uses IE anyway?
- marksmayo, on 04/30/2008, -10/+17Just so long as it can still open and download from http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/products/firefox/ I'll be happy :)
- GregFD3S, on 04/30/2008, -2/+9FireFox's best feature is the fact that its not IE.
- bejayel, on 04/30/2008, -0/+7You try that and let me how it goes. Oh just a small tip, i would keep a windows XP disk at hand if i were you. You might want to back up too.
- OfNumbers, on 04/30/2008, -9/+15You have died of dysentery.
- samuelcotterall, on 04/30/2008, -4/+10In comparison, it's best feature is it's rendering engine.
- WhipTail, on 04/30/2008, -0/+6All of the above are what i did around a year ago =D
Twas a momentous day. I shall remember it always. - Forky, on 04/30/2008, -1/+7Voicevontrolled surfing is awesome.
- robthom, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Voicevontrolling rules.
- saisumimen, on 04/30/2008, -2/+7Uninformed troll is uninformed.
- Strokemouth, on 04/30/2008, -5/+10You can put bluetooth, gps, and leather seats in your Plymouth Reliant, but you still drive a *****.
- supermanred, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6Backwards compatabilty? Dude if you arent just trolling for flames then your system is probably some Russian hacker's bitch right now. Enjoy IE.
- IllBeBack, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4Proofreading can do nothing if the person doing the proofreading does not actually know which "its/it's" is the correct one.
- samuelcotterall, on 04/30/2008, -1/+5I don't know, I was using Safari.
- supermanred, on 04/30/2008, -1/+5Amen. I use Firefox and Safari. Even though I have switched to Mac, I cant bring myself to use IE just from the memories of it cocking up my system in the past.
- smeaty, on 04/30/2008, -1/+5Yeah, it's all good until you have to create specialized CSS files to reconcile the BS between IE6 and 7... I can't even fathom how much fun it'll be to reconcile IE8 with the other two on top of the other browsers...
- kenok, on 04/30/2008, -3/+7Why bother to emulate Firefox items on IE and download 3rd party items along with it, when you could've just install Firefox and you're on your way.
- santaliqueur, on 04/30/2008, -5/+8Too bad Firefox's spell checker can't remove unnecessary apostrophes.
- bejayel, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Opera is my favorite browser, but lots of Java server pages websites dont like it very much for some reason. Either that or they are specifically blocking Opera from working. My current tech school and my previous universities web portals both failed to work in opera with no real errors except a blank white screen.
- supermanred, on 04/30/2008, -7/+10Uh, I use Firefox. But....open source does not always equal that... are you new to open source perhaps? Ive been using open source software since 1980s.
- iofthestorm, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Also, IE for mac is hopelessly outdated.
- SSUK, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3Fortunately, proof-reading solves that issue.
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4tor almost never works for me and it is so fcking slow.
- bejayel, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3The way i see it, if it gets the correct point across then spelling doesnt matter much. I still know what you meant.
- iofthestorm, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4By the way, when companies block Firefox is it usually just a restriction on installing programs, or does PortableFirefox not work either?
- robthom, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Actually your example is reversed crackerboy. If those two browsers where countries IE would be the corporate American war machine and firefox would be the terrorists.
- Giga, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4I would like to see an IT department running Windows that doesn't have IE...
- estvir, on 04/30/2008, -3/+6All the work? Just install IE7Pro. It's easier than clicking "Add to Firefox" and waiting 3 seconds for a bunch of extensions.
- astrosmash, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Some people like to listen to their Zune while they hacking IE to work more like Firefox. There's nothing wrong with that.
- garionw, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3unless your IT Department has a Software Restriction Policy
- GregFD3S, on 04/30/2008, -2/+5FireFox's best feature is the fact that its not IE.
- robthom, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3For the thrill and fun of it I reckon. Like hacking.
- JoeSpaceTime, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3He knows we don't need a link; we can search for ourselves. He does web development. He's just awesome compared to you. QQ
- bluechips23, on 04/30/2008, -2/+4Your mom
- Caled85, on 04/30/2008, -1/+3try the Firefox 3 beta it's very fast and has fewer memory leaks, there not all gone, that's not realistic. Here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html ...
- bjornski, on 04/30/2008, -1/+3You sound just as elitist, lighten up. I use them both.
I use Firefox for my daily stuff, due to some of the add-ons I have installed. But I do stuff with Hotmail/Live services and MSN messenger and junk, and being that I do use IE on some of those, I have IEpro installed. It's very handy. I use it a lot.
I'm not an "ologist" in any sense here. I use both browsers. Upgrades to either of them are of interest to me. - melat0nin, on 04/30/2008, -2/+4God almighty, you are like a broken record. You admit yourself that 3.0 fixes a lot of things, so why the need to go on about 2.0? Yes, it was a flawed piece of software, but christ, do you expect the developers to be omnipotent gods with endless resources to see where the problems are and fix them when you want them fixed?
The fact is 3 does fix a lot of things, and moreover, it pushes others into new territory. Just give it up man, your bleatings are getting really old. For all your sarcasm about F/OSS freedom, you do an awful lot to try and stop people exercising that freedom. -
