- Stonekeeper, on 11/13/2008, -0/+141) Type your friend's phone number
Start with a country code and press CALL button.
2) Ask your friend to call you back
Tell them to call the number shown on their phone screen. It will be a number local to them.
3) Stay on the line
Don't hang up! In a few seconds your friend will join you back on the call.
So much for free calls!
- LaPingvino, on 11/12/2008, -1/+10GTalk2Voip is doing great pioneer work for some time already, and this is just as great as they did already. A heck of a mashup, so to say.
- DorothyLaudie, on 11/13/2008, -1/+9free calling to US and Canada only. And for first 1500 users only....
- starsky51, on 11/13/2008, -0/+7Good idea.. what's her number?
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+7Pity, No Asian country is listed!
- birdadderley, on 11/13/2008, -2/+7Those steps are ridiculous...
They missed a ton of sub-steps in step 5...
5a) Purchase a monkey and train him to jump through a hula-hoop in 37sec
5b) Disarm the bomb by cutting the blue wire in less than 3sec
5c) Stand on one foot, jump up-and-down, tap your head and rub your stomach for 15sec
5d) Repeat step 5c except rub your head and tap your stomach
5e) Give the monkey a banana because he worked hard and deserves a treat - Stonekeeper, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5The reason I say no is because not everywhere has free local calls!
- neutronphaser, on 11/13/2008, -2/+6Dug for ULTIMATE CHEESE
- markovski, on 11/12/2008, -2/+6Huge saving on international calls. Especially during these volatile times is kind of important.
- Brii, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4Every time my cell phone breaks, I look for something like this for hours.
Thanks to Digg, my looking is over. - megamod, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3true. I don't think my relatives in Brazil get free local calls.
- davecachia, on 11/13/2008, -3/+6Damn that sucks.
Looks like im sticking to skype out. - RuslanZ, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3http://www.freeringer.biz/faq.shtml#q9a
Q10: Why do you ask for my personal data on registration?
FreeRinger is ad-supported service. To target the ads we need to know who our users are for a better match. I.e. if you are a first year college student it's hardly possible that you would like to watch ads of new household products (detergents, vacuum cleaners, etc). So, please be accurate with the data you provide during registration. - megamod, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4close enough, no?
- RuslanZ, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2yes!
- buddamus, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3This is awesome, makes life easy calling people who don't have internet connections.
- Satorikin, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2Very cool!
- sniffer, on 11/13/2008, -2/+4I agree with stonekeeper. This sucks.
I'm staying with voipcheap for now. - enigmaticsoul, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3Extremely unreliable. I was not able to get a single connection. They seem more like a personal data warehousing company than a phone provider. Marital status, occupation, and number of children are all mandatory questions? Seems pretty fishy. Also, the article linked to at marketwatch.com is not actually journalistic news coverage associated with the Wall Street Journal, but rather just a press release from the company themselves (see http://www.freeringer.biz/news.shtml).
- RuslanZ, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2This is not true. Your friend calls to local number, which is in many cases free of charge!
- RuslanZ, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2No, it does not! Recepient calls to regular local phone number in their area.
- wyatt23, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1yea, i have tons of out of country girlfriends.
- creaturecool, on 11/13/2008, -1/+2FTA:
Making calls:
1. Enter your friend's phone number in international format: country code followed by area code followed by local number. Examples: 16502345678 is for USA/California, 442012345678 is for UK/London.
2. Press Call button. If this phone number is not yet listed on your roster, a subscription process will be initiated and new contact created.
3. Upon success a new Talkster number will be allocated for your friend to reach you back on the web. A phone call will be placed to your friend's phone number and you will hear a voice prompt informing you on call progress.
+++++++++++++++++++++
4. Once connected, you will have 10 seconds to tell your friend to call you right back to their Talkster number, while you are staying on hold and waiting. Your friend will learn their Talkster number from: a) SMS message sent during subscription, b) CallerID displayed to them, c) you can tell them their Talkster number.
+++++++++++++++++++++
5. After your friend calls you back, the system will connect you both again and you may talk as much as you want.
there's always a catch. - RuslanZ, on 11/12/2008, -2/+3Yeah.. works from my MacBook
- Coventrian, on 11/13/2008, -1/+2Load of old crap, I'd expect nothing else in the usa, the country where it costs me money when people phone my cell phone.
I'll stick with SKYPE for now.
Quality is the worst I have ever experienced, couldn't ever connect, wanted all sorts of irrelevant information. - contradictator, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Neato! Thanks!
- contradictator, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1So if I'm calling someone who has free local calls, it won't cost either of us a cent, right?
- julieBi, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Watch out Skype, Google marked you also (take a number and stand in line) .
If you are having trouble, like I did, this is where you will find salvation for your Gtalk problems

How you'll have an easier time then I did to get it working. - Zippo, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1Damn, no calls to Japan... ah well.
- smahato, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1unreliable... tried 3 times, got connected only once.... suxs
- devnullDood, on 11/13/2008, -3/+3This is a waist of time. All their doing is pushing the cost of a long distance call onto your friend.
- pyccki, on 11/15/2008, -0/+0Where is Pyccki????????????
- BobCFC, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1The recipient pays the cost of the call?
This is like that american ***** where they pay to receive SMS messages lol. - spvn, on 11/13/2008, -2/+2As per usual, most of Asia misses out. ARGH
