- Lorian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why do you say that? Deleteing a file from the disk simply erases it from file allocation table (hence FAT), but leaves the actual data on the disk
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Freeware? What's the catch? Any spyware? Anybody has tried this?"
lol, it was written by the CIA and sends a image of your HD to the Department of Homeland Security - mattyG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/welcome.htm
- motorbikematt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Old Floppys, I should say:

FAT12 is what's on Floppys. - republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Freeware? What's the catch? Any spyware? Anybody has tried this?"
"lol, it was written by the CIA and sends a image of your HD to the Department of Homeland Security"
That was funny stuff! Thanks for a laugh. And to the guy that wrote it, it is the same as any other freeware program. Read the license agreement(yes, I do read those if I am suspicious). - TrippleZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*agrees*
I have a security pack I bought a few years ago (VCOM Security Suite) even has a file undeleter. It's not new or even fantastically advanced tech.
Diggs anyway for finding a freeware app. - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well if the hacker was smart as his data was being deleted the program would be writting junk data over it. That would make it a lot harder to get the data off if you could at all.
- blkjak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't used this program but I have used their e-maxx and clone maxx programs. No catch...no spyware. They are dos based utilities running on FreeDos. Not bad programs if you are in a pinch and don't want to fork out $$ for more featured programs.
SpookyET - care to elaborate on your review? - RandyRants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What the heck is "FAT12"? FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, sure... FAT12? Never heard o'it, even after other things like HPFS, HFS+, BFS, etc...
- IceKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0has anyone ever used this. ive used recover my files a few times and it worked even after full destructive restore. if anyone knows of some good recovery software let me know...thanks
- Mocib, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0[nerdmode]Someone actually uses the recycle bin?[/nerdmode]
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0not a bad program, doesn't have the power of easy rec, but you get what you pay for!
- freonchill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ya know, i deleted a doc file to test and see how well this program works...
it couldnt find it.
and it was just something i was testing
i'd hate to use it for something that "really mattered" - a1programmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0SpookyET, you have no idea what you're saying. Aparently, you have no idea what goes on with your file system. Lorian was basically right on track.
- motorbikematt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Any real hacker would have used PGP to wipe the files.

- matt0baba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well its great to have this program ....tried it in my office ...but @ home i got a mac....does anyone know anything simmilar for macs? ...otherwise good stuff ...
digg - IceKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maybe we can use this as a forum to get a good piece of software
- Ares, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You know FAT12 is like MSER ( Comes right before NTFS )
- odsae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Boot and Nuke. Try to recover those files after running that bad boy.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0but does it "Magically" send my files to a computer and/or have a virus?
- snapcase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Eh, I prefer Restoration.
- Penmaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used the older version of this software and it worked great! My friend had a floppy that was unrecognizable on any PC. We popped the floppy in, ran this program and he got his files back. I personally believe this is a good program. Haven't used the new one yet, but if it is as good as the old one, I would recommend it.

http://www.ptdd.com - ting, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm so sick of this kind of attitude ala google/yahoo/etc. Like I'm a dumbass who doesn't know 1+1.
Yeah, I'm aware that there are lots of netizens that are not savvy enough, but common let us evolve this marketing a little.
BTW, now even standard file managers like Directory Opus come with a "shredder" feature. Click with left button - delete, click with right - shred files. Not to mention all others. - Ares, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I stand corrected, thanks for teaching me something. I guess I should do some research before pretending I know everything about computers ;)
- t35t0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no *****? remember "undelete" command from MSDOS 5.0 ..kiddies these days and their "freeware"
- defubar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I also have used Restoration. I undeleted quite a few files a couple months back with it. Works quite well. I will give this program a try.
- Ares, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I also like the app that recovers Memory/Flash card data.
http://www.pcinspector.de/smart_media_recovery/uk/welcome.htm - JonDyer, on 12/10/2007, -0/+0This does work really well, and it is free. It was one of the apps that I featured in my 35 Essential Software Tools List.
- Clp727, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes this software works great and can make the life of a PC repair person quite fun. Install it and search for deleted "*.jpg" files. This software will pull up every cached .jpg file that has ever been viewed on your PC. Its amazing when you discover how much pornographic material yo can find on someones computer.

- iamtheshow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i personally like restoration ( http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html ). lots of great freeware at snapfiles, in addition to it.
- Nuknuk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Freeware? What's the catch? Any spyware? Anybody has tried this?
- jimohagan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I work for the GeekSquad and I tried using this program for the first time yesterday. I was using it on a 512MB CompactFlash drive. It was very slow and crashed a couple of times. Not sure if it is the media, but I was unimpressed. I then used Active UnDelete and it was much much faster at pulling the data. As I have found in the past though, some programs are better than others at undeleting data. Sort of like spyware removal programs. Sometimes SpyBot is better than AdAware...
- MannaPC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ha! pwned
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yes, it works fine. Old but good.
Its been on my page for a year. http://www.ramsinks.com/software.asp
(along with every other piece of software people will Digg about 1 by 1..) - Locu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ontrack Easy Recovery Professional has saved my arse many times
- SpookyET, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0What I meant by "*****" is that the program is a piece of junk. This digg story is nothing more than spam. I know how the file system works. If you really want to recover your files, get what professional use. If you haven't created files nor defragmented your drive since the file in question was deleted, you'll recover it. Otherwise, you'll only recover a partial or nothing at all, and many programs don't read partials.
- SpookyET, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0*****.
