Since they don't control content on their site, they should not be responsible for peoples stories. Also, A RESPONSIBLE way to go about it, is to let the __IA send a request to remove, EACH and EVERY instance of it. Let them send a take down request for EVERY individual story. Instead, they seem to be actively and proactively removing stories and banning accounts. That is BS. So much for Kevin Rose being some sort of 1337 hacker or internet badass or whatever.

  • Arrakistor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5A C&D order is not required before you file suit, and a flagrant reposting argument isn't going to hold weight in a court. I think both Digg and the media industry know this. So using that as a cushion is only a polite formality and not a strategy. If Digg feels it has to censor the usage of that string, that it their prerogative. And I don't think that the anti-intellectual privacy movement on Digg is the whole of Digg itself, nor even a majority, so I don't think it really poses any risk to Digg. Now for all of you who demand that these things not be taken down, I suggest you first go and post it on your own personal website that has a gazillion page hits per day. Let's be fair.
