- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+138Friends don't let friends use IE.
- dougvfr750, on 11/04/2008, -8/+132A user from the first version
- echo2501, on 11/04/2008, -6/+114Kill
IE6 - kuyman, on 11/04/2008, -0/+88I was using it before it was called Firefox.
- dezweber, on 11/03/2008, -2/+83I really would have thought that Firefox has more than 20% of the market share. My dork friends have had me on it for years and I love it!
- PeterNorton, on 11/03/2008, -2/+61I am beginning to have some doubt whether IE8 is really going to help Microsoft. I mean, isn't IE8 Beta 2 out already and shouldn't we have seen IE share at least leveling out somehow? Firefox looks really strong. Good job, Mozilla!
- dse78759, on 11/04/2008, -0/+57Now diggers, if we ALL go to our girlfriends and whine until they try out firefox, that will be FIVE NEW USERS!
- dse78759, on 11/04/2008, -0/+51My wife bitched up a storm when I first installed Firefox and it took over as 'default browser'.
Then I showed her tabs, and when I came home from work the other day, she had installed 10+ extensions.
She's not going back to IE. - Darkaged, on 11/04/2008, -4/+49Oh yeah? Well I was using it before the Internet, bitches
- cesclaveria, on 11/04/2008, -0/+45Phoenix FTW!
- RedRummy, on 11/04/2008, -3/+42Record share FOR FIREFOX
IE ~ 70%
FF ~ 20%
Safari ~ 7%
Opera ~ 0.7%
Chrome ~ 0.7%
NS ~ 0.5%
can't beleive I just typed all those out.. WTF. - ch40sBr1ng3r, on 11/04/2008, -2/+36Been using since Version 1, and will never let it go. Firefox is an amazing browser, and thanks to its user base, we have the ability to make it into anything we want it to with addons. Firefox will reign supreme.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+32Every time I look at the browser market share I scream
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP USING IE6!!
and when I wake up from being passed out I get back to googling "IE6 workaround" - gerrylazlo, on 11/04/2008, -0/+30I've been deleting ie off of the desktops that I've been setting up for non-internet savvy friends and family and replacing it with a Firefox icon that says 'Internet'.
I've never heard a single complaint. - inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+30Even my parents use it and they are idiots when it comes to the tubes.
- MWeather, on 11/04/2008, -0/+25Well, I could think of worse times for it to crash.
- ff1959, on 11/04/2008, -0/+24In my day we had to gather the bits by hand, uphill both ways.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+220 X 0 = 0
- Jaydamis, on 11/04/2008, -3/+25My E PEEN is ***** HUGE!
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+21cant believe people still use NS
- Shananra, on 11/04/2008, -0/+21Looks like he's being ridiculously generous in the assumption that five diggers have girlfriends.
- d03boy, on 11/04/2008, -0/+21cant believe you bothered with NS
- SSUK, on 11/04/2008, -0/+20Thank you IE, but your marketshare is in another browser.
- BXRWXR, on 11/04/2008, -1/+20Yay! Keep up the good work.
I couldn't imagine using anything else. - secrity, on 11/04/2008, -2/+20Stop optimizing web servers for IE
- ArchAngel21x, on 11/04/2008, -1/+19Wives are going to bitch up a storm no matter what men do. Get used to it.
- MarkusX, on 11/04/2008, -2/+18Firefox' market share is constantly growing. That's the most important thing for loyal users like us.
Look at Chrome, even Google's massively hyped browser is declining - to my surprise.
A (maybe slowly but) constantly growing market share will ensure that the Mozilla team is able to keep developping and improving the browser for the years to come. - Mudcrutch, on 11/04/2008, -4/+19Chrome was not hyped at all. What are you talking about?
- thealsir, on 11/04/2008, -1/+16I've been using it since it was called Phoenix.
- orangester, on 11/04/2008, -0/+15All of the University of Iowa computers have Firefox installed on them. It just goes to show you how many people are starting to realize how much better their internet experience would be without it.
- dabura, on 11/04/2008, -1/+14yeah diggas.
- aenima987, on 11/04/2008, -0/+13Probably four.
- RuthlessPirate, on 11/04/2008, -0/+12I would definitely vote for that before McCain/Palin
- NexusV2, on 11/04/2008, -0/+12Notepad.
- AppleMacStud, on 11/04/2008, -3/+14Sorry but you must mean McCain/IE7 as both are old and worthless.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+12LOL, I SEE WHAT U DID THAR.
Nope, wait, actually I don't. - inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+12what?! no.
- YouAreDead, on 11/04/2008, -1/+11Why 5?
- drgruney, on 11/04/2008, -0/+10I don't know what your problem is. I regularly have dozens of tabs with um... multimedia webpages.. open with no problem.
- ac2u, on 11/04/2008, -1/+11Browsers copying good features from other browsers is what drives the web forward. Even the IE has had stuff copied from it into other browsers.
Sorry to burst your bubble Kate1240 but all that AJAX magic on webpages thesedays may not be there if MS didn't release XMLHTTP in IE5. - inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+10As long as they finally obey web standards I couldn't give a flying ***** who they copy.
- latrosicarius, on 11/04/2008, -0/+9Mozilla should really consider implementing active directory interop module. i don't know if most of you know this, but many businesses use IE because it works with their Active Directory servers to allow their employees to log onto their Intranet website automatically--just by logging onto their windows workstation with their domain username.
(no need to log into the intranet--it automatically looks up their username, matches it to their entry in the AD server, and logs them right in. this allows them an easy "single-sign-on" system and a portal to many web apps that otherwise they would need to sign into each manually through the browser)
there is no reason FF couldn't do this as well, but it would likely need an interop .dll. It would seriously help a lot of businesses change browsers imho. - BinaryFragger, on 11/04/2008, -0/+9It's actually still on Mozilla's servers.. they seem to keep everything:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/phoenix/releases/0.1/
release notes: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/releases/0.1. ... - defected07, on 11/04/2008, -4/+13Sounds like a problem with your PC
- Induane, on 11/04/2008, -0/+9Maybe you have a bad extension or something? I frequently browse with many more than 10 tabs open because I'm always going back to look at stuff or working on my games wiki so I have tons of pages open for reference... sometimes 30+ tabs. It doesn't crash or freak out for me.
- domness, on 11/04/2008, -3/+12The only reason IE has a high percentage is due to the fact Microsoft have it implemented automatically in their OS. Also, due to the fact that some sites from MS make you NEED IE to view certain pages, "Please have the latest version of IE installed" (Tried using Firefox and failure due to MS). I'd uninstalled IE but I have to keep it for this.
Firefox however, is being advertised on more and more sites, "For best viewing, use Firefox." which is good on their part (and ours, for us who use it). With more and more people using it and the user base increasing, it just means that more features and added and more people are becoming Firefox developers with endless amounts of add-ons, themes and plugins. There are even sites which turn the Firefox Browser to look and feel exactly like Google Chrome. However, with better functionality from Mozilla ;)
For Google Chrome however, they had a big release over the papers.. JUST because it was from GOOGLE. However, the hype is now dying down as more and more people who have only changed from IE to Chrome have realized that there is this amazing browser called Firefox :)
Hopefully the percentage will just keep on increasing for Mozilla and bring a larger open source community base with it. - ELSHIMI, on 11/04/2008, -1/+10I am really impressed with Firefox 3.1 Beta 1. It feels much faster compared to earlier versions. I tried using Chrome for a while, however I found myself going back to Firefox. It just feels more complete as a browser.
- starsky51, on 11/04/2008, -1/+10"He was literally pissed as ***** "
You just broke my brain. - Zippo, on 11/04/2008, -0/+9That means nearly 1 in 5 users are using Firefox. Sweet.
Keep it coming... free the web from IE! -
